In memory of those who “died suddenly” in Canada, February 20- February 27, 2023
Quebec lawyer Susan Valerie Zimmerman (specializing in health law and policy); Ontario paramedic Jordan Gardiner; and 380 others coast to coast
CANADA
A note from our lead Canada researcher:
As high as it is—higher even than the toll in Italy, although Canada has a much smaller population—the weekly toll that we have been recording in these compilations is much lower than it ought to be, due to the terseness of obituaries from some of Canada’s highly multicultural populations. The death notices from those communities are less detailed than those from the general population.
There is a similar void of information in our northern regions. It is extremely difficult to find death notices of any kind for those communities, whose rate of “sudden deaths” may well be hidden. What all this means, in short, is that the true rate of “sudden deaths” in Canada is probably much higher–perhaps five times higher–than the quite high rate that we’ve recorded here.

Lee was an outgoing, chatty and lovable guy who was made for careers that helped him to interact with people. He was a comedian – he told both the best and the worst jokes you’d have ever heard. To say he had a different sense of humor was sort of an understatement. He struggled a lot, but you would never know it because he wasn’t going to show it. Lee was an interesting man to say the least. He’d give you the shirt off his back and was very friendly to everyone. He lived with his son and valued the relationships he had with all of his children and grandchildren. While there is so much that can be said about this wonderful man, the sheer love and adoration that his children and grandchildren have for him and how much they are going to miss him, says it all.

Linda Joyce Bryson (née: McKnight) aged 74 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023. Linda had a compassionate heart which led her first to a career in health care, later turning that spirit toward mental health care and social support services for victims of domestic violence as a founding member of the Moose Jaw Transition House. There, Linda worked for many years as a counselor and advocate for women and children who had escaped abusive situations. Throughout her life she was known as someone people found easy to talk to and was always willing to listen without judgement. When asked, she offered her time and advice freely, any time of day or night to anyone who called or came to her. She became a mentor and “second” mother to many. She cared deeply about people (especially those who needed an advocate) and their treatment by others and by society at large. Linda was involved with many groups and organizations such as the Scottish Society, Moose Jaw Nature Society, Motif, White Hackle Pipe Band, the Saskatchewan NDP, and Hunger in Moose Jaw, to name a few. Linda’s heart was always open to anyone who needed her, she took on other children as her own, bringing them into her family and raising them beside her own children. Donations in Linda’s name can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Charles (Jim) J. Ulch, 63
February 14, 2023
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jim Ulch on February 5th, 2023, in Saskatoon, SK after a short fight with a cancer, at the age of 63. Jim began his exciting career in the oilfield, originally moving full time to Australia. Upon returning his home base to Canada, Jim traveled between McPhee Lake, SK, and countries such as Jordan, Syria, and Yemen for many years. During this time, Jim truly joined the overseas family that would follow him for the rest of his life. At the twilight of his career, Jim consulted in Yemen, Saudi Arabia and finally in Mexico. As if all of that wasn’t enough excitement for a lifetime, Jim also did this while at times raising his children, giving them the opportunity to join him and in some cases, live with him along the way. Being around Jim always meant one thing; good times were about to be had, whether you were ready or not. He was as force to be reckoned with, anywhere he went. Donation in Jim’s name may do so to the Canadian or American Cancer Society.

One thing that blows me away is how many obits suggest donating to cancer research. Years ago, I did some research into who does cancer research. What I found was that 14 percent is done in hospitals, and the remaining 86 percent is done by pharmaceutical companies. Of course, pharma doesn't want to cure anything, especially not cancer. Nonetheless, so many of those that died of cancer ask us to donate to cancer research.
Donations to Heart groups, Cancer groups. Who havent said a word about this mass murder. Complicit
