British boxing champion Cam Shaw has drowned aged 25 while snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. York-born Shaw was on holiday in Cairns with his girlfriend and was on an organised expedition at the time of his death on Monday. The boxer was described as "a strong swimmer" by dad Rod, with the family awaiting the outcome of an investigation. Rod said, as quoted in the York Press: "We don't know exactly what has happened, but we know that Cam has drowned and the investigation is still on-going. He was a strong swimmer - I taught him to swim at Water World in York when he was aged two and a half and he reached up to nine out of a possible eleven levels." Shaw's dad continued: "He was a fit lad. He was a professional boxer and fought four fights. He won them all, but then Covid struck and he had to put it to one side. He went on to become a fully qualified ski instructor in Switzerland and he had just spent a season in New Zealand and he wanted to see one of the seven wonders of the world - the Great Barrier Reef. Cam excelled at everything he did and we didn't realise just how popular he was until now. We have been blown away. We just knew he was a gregarious, helpful and convivial guy - he threw his all into everything he did.” A spokesperson for Queensland Police said: "Investigations are underway into the circumstances surrounding his death, however, it is believed non-suspicious.”

Dubstep producer, DJ and Benga-collaborator Walsh has died aged 40, his family have confirmed. The Croydon-born producer passed away suddenly last week, though a cause of death has yet to be confirmed. “It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son and brother Darren Walsh,” said a statement from Walsh’s family. “He died suddenly on Sunday 16th October 2022 at the age of 40 years old. Walsh was known for his bi-weekly radio shows on London’s Delight 103FM, which he curated alongside fellow-DJ N-Type. The shows explored the “darker side of UK garage”.

The father of a 25-year-old who suddenly died in her sleep from an undiagnosed heart condition is set to row across the Atlantic in her memory. He is aiming to support a charity that helped his family after his daughter Amy died in 2018. Mr Osborne aims to raise £100,000 for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) to provide free heart scans for under 35s. She died from arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, the same heart condition that affected former England, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire cricketer James Taylor. According to CRY, about 12 people under the age of 35 die a week in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions. He said: "Amy died in her sleep - she literally just didn't wake up. She was 25 years old and reasonably fit. It was a tragedy. It isn't a heart attack, it's that the electrics in the heart just stop working."

At a conference for medical professionals in Sedona, Arizona this past weekend, several speakers – all physicians – commented on a disturbing trend: an increase in otherwise healthy people dying in their sleep. Sudden unexplained age-inappropriate deaths seem to be happening more than usual, both in the United States, where these medical doctors practice, and in several other countries in the industrialized world.
Excess death “is a phenomenon all over the world at the moment,” said Dr. John Campbell, a nurse educator who has been meticulously following and commenting on the scientific data for his YouTube channel, which has 2.47 million subscribers. The data shows that “deaths are 16 percent higher than we would expect,” Campbell said in a recent video, “and the vast majority of these are not COVID deaths.”
Dr. Peter McCullough, a cardiologist who is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, who presented at the conference, said that when people – especially young people – die in their sleep, the underlying cause is often myocarditis.
After a careful review of the peer-reviewed scientific literature (to which he has also contributed several studies as a lead or co-author), McCullough said that the sudden and unexpected deaths we are seeing in young people are most likely from undiagnosed or asymptomatic vaccine-induced myocarditis.

Gary’s cousin shared the sad new on Facebook on Sunday morning, saying: “Sadly late Friday night 28/10/2022 my fabulous cousin Gary Wilkinson passed away after a short illness. He was with family and will live on in our hearts and memories forever. Gary was my favourite cousin and a friend. It has come as a shock to us all."

A teenage girl died after collapsing at a Halloween music festival in what witnesses described as a ‘horrible’ tragedy. Maya Nager had been enjoying the Terminal V electronic music festival Saturday evening in Edinburgh when the 19-year-old collapsed. She was desperately rushed to the city's Royal infirmary for treatment but despite the best efforts of medics she was sadly pronounced dead on Monday morning, The Daily Record reported. Officers have now launched an investigation into the unknown circumstances around the teen’s death at the event held at the Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston in Edinburgh. A festival source said: “The poor girl collapsed in the venue at around 6 pm. It was a horrible sight and we saw her being rushed away to hospital in an ambulance. We didn’t know what had happened to her but to hear she has passed away is truly shocking.” The Terminal V Halloween 2022 rave event - billed as Scotland’s largest electronic music festival - was given the go-ahead despite police raising concerns after previous events were hit by drug-taking and hospitalisations - like most festivals. The midday to midnight Terminal V festival was first held at the capital’s Royal Highland Centre in 2017 and initially attracted around 5000 people.

A much-loved award-winning teacher has died suddenly while returning from a history trip to Germany and Poland. Colm Murphy, from St John's Catholic Comprehensive School in Gravesend, died this morning whilst heading home from the school trip to Berlin and Krakow. The teacher, who received the Kent Teacher of the Year Award in 2016 as well as numerous other accolades during his career, also led a static bicycle challenge to honour war heroes, where students cycled a distance equivalent to going from Gravesend to Ypres, Belgium.
St John's paid tributes to the beloved teacher with a banner in their website, as well as a statement from the school's headmaster, Mr Matt Barron. He said: "It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the sudden death of Mr Colm Murphy, a highly respected and much loved member of our teaching staff and a long-serving stalwart of the history department. Mr Murphy died suddenly this morning whilst returning from the school’s history trip to Berlin and Krakow.”

It's understood Mick, who was from the east end of the city, was a freelance electrician for the BBC and worked backstage on a number of shows including River City. The dad-of-one was a Celtic supporter and fans erupted into a round of applause in tribute to him during the 28th minute of their 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk at Celtic Park on Tuesday night. Loved ones also released green, white and orange balloons and let off fireworks in his memory at a local park on what would have been his 28th birthday last Thursday.

A traveller family is heartbroken following the sudden death of a father-of-nine who was "well-respected" in Wyre Forest. Stourport builder Roody Smith, aged 40, died within two days of developing sepsis on October 4. Gelly Da Barr Smith, his wife of 21 years, said he was admitted to the intensive care unit at Worcester Royal Hospital and died within 48 hours at the beginning of the month. "He got poorly with sepsis. He died within 48 hours. Infection overtook his blood and there was nothing we could do. It was a very heartbreaking tragedy what happened to Roody. He had nine kids".

Martin Cleaver, 43, was visiting the gym after work one summer's evening with his brother when he suddenly had a heart attack and collapsed, in front of his brother Phil and other gymgoers. A heartbroken man fought to save the life of his brother after he suffered huge heart attack while working out in the gym. The two of them were taking turns weightlifting when Martin experienced chest pain, reports the Liverpool Echo. Phil turned around and saw his brother collapse from the bench he was sitting on, and onto the floor. Phil said: "It was mad because we were having a laugh one minute and the next minute he was dead." Martin was then taken to Whiston Hospital by paramedics, and was pronounced dead, with doctors telling the family he had a heart attack.
Phil said his family were "devastated" by the loss of Martin, who would "do anything for anyone". He said: "He was only 43 and I think the worst thing is that there were no symptoms and nothing wrong with him before he died. He was just a normal lad with a 25-year-old son and he loved going to the gym.

A Surrey mum-of-three suddenly died after she was helping one of her children get ready for school. Michaela Bateman, 34, lived in Frimley and was taken to hospital after feeling ill on the morning of September 29, but later died from a pulmonary embolism. Michaela's mum, Sharon Massingham, said: "We lost my mum on September 19 - Michaela and she were very close - and then 10 days later we lost my daughter. So it's been a double whammy. It's a case of having to cope with it because we have the children." Michaela was preparing her eldest son ready for school and called to her mum from the bedroom, who had been staying, saying she was in pain. The 52-year-old said: "She was in agony and saying it was in her rib cage. She suffered from pancreatitis, which I thought it was." Sharon said the pain "grew worse and worse" and so she called an ambulance for her daughter. Michaela was taken to Frimley Park Hospital where she suffered a cardiac arrest soon after arriving and staff told the devastated, she was "gravely ill". Sharon, who followed the ambulance to the hospital with her son Craig, said the doctors had to "work" Michaela's heart and breathing for her. She added: "They worked on her for about an hour and a half but they had to turn the machine off as there was no more they could do for her. She died from a catastrophic pulmonary embolism. She was a devoted mum and she used to go on date nights with her eldest and go bowling and for a meal."

A British tourist died after getting out of the sea at a popular holiday beach. The 55-year-old man felt unwell after coming out of the water at the beach of Praia dos Alemães in Albufeira, Portugal. Emergency services rushed to the beach shortly after 1.30 pm on Thursday following reports a tourist had gone into cardiac arrest. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, local media reported. The man's body was later transferred to the Legal Medical Office of Portimão by volunteer firefighters.

Police in Scarborough are investigating the sudden and unexplained death of a man at Peasholm Park. Emergency services were called to a wooded area of the park, off Manor Road, at 8.53 pm on Wednesday. The man was found collapsed by members of the public who gave him CPR. He was taken to hospital by ambulance where he sadly died. The man is aged in his mid-30s and lives locally. His family have been informed and are being supported by the police. While there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances, the death is still being treated as unexplained.

Two men have been found dead on the same street just two days apart. Emergency services rushed to Almada Street in Hamilton shortly before 9 pm on Sunday after they were made aware of the sudden death of a man. The incident comes after a 35-year-old man fell from a building on the same street, around 3.35 pm on Friday. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Cops say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding either incidents and reports will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

During the event, RTE broadcaster Joanne Cantwell introduced an 'In Memoriam' video montage tribute. This UK etc list seemed extra lengthy this week. Thanks you all the hard work put into compiling this list and all the others.
Sure wish I knew the vaxx'd and booster status on the these folks. Numerous ones mentioned the pets left behind, quite sad, I hope they all find good homes. It takes time for the animals to adapt and adjust, as well as the new owner.
I wonder if the SPCA's have records of the pets that have been dropped off due to sudden death?
