Hong Kong-born Dr Wilson Chin, who broke down in tears describing the abuse he received running a Covid vaccination clinic on the Gold Coast, passed away shortly before Christmas. Dr Chin made headlines in January, 2022 when he described the impact of a false rumour, spread on social media, that two girls who fainted after treatment at Pacific Pines MedCentres, had in fact died. The rumour claimed two girls collapsed and began screaming. But Dr Chin told 9News at the time the episode was simply 'a fainting episode' unrelated to the vaccine. On Wednesday, Pacific Pines MedCentres director Deon Raju confirmed Dr Chin had passed away. He told the Gold Coast Bulletin the cause was a medical issue and 'not mental health related'.

The 24-year-old woman from Aldinga in South Australia, Hayley Beadman, passed on Thursday, December 27 at an Adelaide hospital after going into a myocarditis-induced cardiac arrest. Ms Beadman and her partner, Ben Moore, unknowingly returned Covid-positive from Bali on November 23 and soon after, she started experiencing chest pains. She went into cardiac arrest soon after reaching emergency, doctors diagnosing her with myocarditis due to a positive Covid test. Just under two weeks later, Ms Beadman would unfortunately suffer a lethal second cardiac arrest.

The department confirmed a 45-year-old Aboriginal man collapsed just after 4.30 pm on Tuesday at Greenough Regional Prison in the state’s Midwest. A spokesperson from WA’s Corrective Services said an ambulance was called but paramedics declared the man dead at the prison. Bianca Antonia Sasha Spence was a mother of a three-year-old boy who had just turned 25 on November 7, 2022. On December 24, she along with her husband and son flew to India for the first time. The trip was a much-anticipated one, her elder sister Juliana Saini told the Herald. “This was the first time she was visiting her husband’s family in India. They were all very excited and happy to have her visit. They had started preparations for a big event to celebrate.” But after just three days of arriving, on December 30, Bianca died unexpectedly. Saini said the news of her sister’s death came as a shock and was “heartbreaking”. “She had no health issues that we know of. The autopsy shows she died of a heart attack." Saini said as an elder sister, she was the closest to Bianca, and the loss for both families was unimaginable. “I was always with her, we worked as early childhood teachers together. She was living with me in Auckland.”

A woman has died after being found in what police said was an “extremely agitated” state on Auckland’s North Shore this morning. Detective Inspector Callum McNeil said police were called to Albany after reports of a woman screaming just after 4 am. “A woman was located in an extremely agitated state outside a commercial premise,” McNeil said. “Police called for assistance as she needed to be transported by medical professionals for an assessment.” When the ambulance arrived, she stopped breathing and could not be revived with CPR, police said.

Timaru, Canterbury - Mark 'slipped the surly bonds of this world' suddenly and unexpectedly doing what he loved best – working on his beloved farm. He was a fun, funny, loyal "good man" (one of his favourite expressions). He loved being outdoors on the farm, his 'wee angel' and family. He was constantly running into old rugby mates and had a passion for the game. I used to joke that he had 'rugby balls' for pupils. His favourite Sunday afternoon pastime was heeding the 'siren's call' of 'Cave Pub' – a place where everyone knew his name. Did I mention he could be frustratingly stubborn? He was a 'non-material guy' who always flew coach and was happiest driving his ancient tractor. He will be sorely missed.
