This Saturday, Marlene Alvarenga, president of the Anti-Corruption Party (PAC), confirmed the death of her 14-year-old son after ingesting an energy drink. “I decided to do this Facebook Live to tell you that my son, at 10:30 pm on February 10, started convulsing, we didn't know why,” Marlene announced. Joel Santos Alvarenga, the eldest son of the lawyer and her husband, Ruben Santos, had consumed an alcoholic drink, secretly from his parents, Marlene detailed. He added that they found the young man convulsing and it was then that he mentioned to them that “he had taken a drink and that the can was hidden under his clothes, I opened his closet and took out the can. At about 1:00 or 12:30 in the midnight he started convulsing and had a cardiac arrest. My 14-year-old boy left me,” the lawyer says in a video posted on her social networks.

An elderly man died over the weekend when he went with three other friends and family to Cerro del Chupón, located south of Monterrey. State authorities such as Civil Protection of Nuevo León reported that they received a mayday call to the 911 emergency number. The report requested the help of paramedics for a man who had fainted at the time of descending from the natural area. Upon arrival of the Civil Protection personnel, they checked the victim, to whom CPR resuscitation maneuvers were applied, however the man no longer showed signs of life. Friends and a family member who were accompanying the victim to the area identified him as Fernando David Garza Garza, who was 62 years old. The people indicated that the deceased suffered from high blood pressure, but at the time of climbing he did not complain of any discomfort, only on the descent he mentioned that he felt unwell. Upon confirming his death, the elements placed a blanket over the victim's body, awaiting the arrival of ministerial agents and experts for the investigation.

After feeling various discomforts and walking a few steps, a man fainted and became lifeless on a sidewalk, this Thursday morning in the northern area of Monterrey. Elements of the State Investigation Agency and the Civil Force were deployed to the site to investigate, and ruled out a violent event. A man identified as Joselito Gomes passed away late this Friday morning, on Avenida Presidente Quaresma in the neighborhood of Alecrim. According to information from Via Certa Natal, Joselito became ill and died in the middle of the street. The suspicion is that he had some kind of sudden illness, like a heart attack. He even hit his head on the ground, but that would not have been the cause of death. The Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) was called, but when it arrived at the scene, Joselito Gomes was already dead.

A young man of 22 years, identified as João Paulo Lucio Neto Correa Arce, died during a football match that took place in the Coophatrabalho neighborhood, on Tuesday night. He had a sudden illness, followed by cardiorespiratory arrest. As stated in the police report, recorded by João Paulo's uncle, his nephew was playing ball on a soccer field when he began to feel tingling in his feet. John reportedly reported it to teammates and then lost consciousness. The Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service) was activated and performed resuscitation maneuvers, but without success. As explained by his uncle, João had no health problems nor did he use medications. In addition, he did not suffer any falls or injuries during the football match. It was on Tuesday night, during the Veterans Tournament round, at the Semel Stadium. The athlete Marcelo Goulart, 47 years old, from the Fátima team, became ill after the end of the match. He had a sudden illness in the locker room, immediately received first aid from doctors Emanuel and Bruno Aquino, and also from the Municipal Guard Evaldo. Around 18:30 hours on Thursday, a taxi driver identified as Miguel Ángel Joaquín Seoane, 68, died of a non-traumatic cardiorespiratory arrest inside his car. At the time of his death, the worker behind the wheel was sitting inside his unit, a Fiat Cronos, on Bolivar and Felix de Azara Street in Posadas.
