Amanda Mackey, Casting Director on ‘A League of Their Own,’ ‘The Fugitive’ and ‘The Normal Heart,’ Dies at 70
August 31, 2022
Amanda Mackey, the busy casting director who worked on The Fugitive and four other films for director Andrew Davis and shared an Emmy nomination for populating Larry Kramer‘s The Normal Heart, has died. She was 70. Mackey died Saturday at Calvary Hospital in Brooklyn after a battle with myelodysplastic syndrome, a form of blood cancer, longtime business partner Cathy Sandrich Gelfond told The Hollywood Reporter.
She received one Artios Award for her work on A League of Their Own (1993) and shared another one with Sandrich Gelfond for Smokin’ Aces (2006) — she collected 15 Artios nominations in all — and the pair were featured in the eye-opening 2012 documentary Casting By. Mackey was “an unwaveringly steadfast friend and champion in a time when women weren’t as supportive to other women as they are now,” Sandrich Gelfond said in a statement. “She believed in me, lifted me up and gave me a career. She was the sister I never had and changed my life in countless ways.”
This one hits close to home: Marc, a former student of mine at Penn, became a close friend for many years; I was able to get him hired at JHU, where he taught film and screenwriting. We lost touch thereafter, and I always meant to get in touch with him again, but now I can’t.
(He was a healthy person, full of energy, throughout the time I knew him. Recent correspondence with a mutual acquaintance leads me to believe that Marc was “vaccinated.”)

Wes Freed—the visual artist whose work was synonymous with Southern rock group Drive-By Truckers—has died, Rolling Stone reports. The band’s publicist confirmed the news of Freed’s death to Rolling Stone. Earlier this year, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to help Freed cover medical expenses related to his colorectal cancer diagnosis, which he received in January. Freed was 58 years old.
Freed studied art at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, where he settled after an upbringing in the Shenandoah Valley. “I think initially when I was in high school I always wanted to be in New York and be an artist,” he once recalled in a local news interview (below). “And then I came to Richmond and said, ‘I don’t know, Richmond seems like it might be big enough.’ Then I went to New York and it was like, ‘Yeah, Richmond’s definitely big enough.’”

A look back at eight sudden deaths in Bloomington, Indiana, within a two-month period in 2021. Three of those who “died suddenly” were students, and a fourth was a trustee, at Indiana University, while two paramedics, and two students attending other local schools, “died suddenly” as well:
Sudden deaths in a college town
September 4, 2022
Three Indiana University students died suddenly about a year ago. So did a member of the Indiana University Board of Trustees. So did two paramedics in the area and a couple of college students who attended other universities nearby.
Two of the deaths of Indiana University students were so close together, and so baffling, that the county coroner, Joanie Stalcup, says she turned to law enforcement and asked if they knew what could be happening.
One was IU undergraduate student Mia Roy, age 20, whose roommate found her dead on the couch in their apartment on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
In Bloomington, home to Indiana University, Mia Roy lived in an apartment at Stadium Crossing, a multi-building complex on Dunn Street, across from IU’s football stadium on the north side of campus. She was from Crown Point, Indiana. News reports of her death like this one stressed that there was “no evidence of foul play or self-harm.” An autopsy was done, and the cause of death was found to be related to a cold she’d had the week before, Stalcup said.
But she said that because this was such a rare occurrence — that a healthy young woman should die from such a mild illness — she still had questions, and so had a tissue sample sent to the CDC for testing in the fall of 2021. She said this week that she hasn’t yet heard anything back from the CDC.
A second death of an IU student of about the same age occurred within a few weeks, Stalcup said.
“In my opinion it was unusual because they were around the same age and had similar stories that surrounded their deaths,” she said. “However, there was nothing suspicious found in autopsies. There was nothing in their cause of death that was suspicious. It’s just odd.”

Former MLB pitcher Mark Littell dead at 69
September 7, 2022
Royals and Cardinals pitcher Mark Littell, who spent nine seasons in the big leagues, died earlier in the week at 69, following heart surgery. Littell is best remembered for giving up a home run to Chris Chambliss to end Game 5 of the 1976 ALCS, which gave the Yankees their first American League pennant in 12 years. But it was Littell’s pitching which helped the Royals edge out the A’s for the AL West title in the first place, going 8-4 with a 2.08 ERA out of the bullpen and even earning some MVP votes. The Royals held a moment of silence for Littell before Tuesday’s game against the Guardians.

Whidbey Island float plane crash: ’10 presumed dead’ with 1 body found after Friday Harbor aircraft ‘nosedived’ into sea
September 5, 2022
Ten people are presumed dead after witnesses described seeing a plane "nosedive" into the water in Washington on Sunday. The float plane was carrying a child and nine other people during the horror crash on Whidbey Island north of Seattle. One body has been recovered after a plane with 10 people onboard crashed into the water north of Seattle, Washington. The Coast Guard launched an urgent search after the float plane went down in Mutiny Bay west of Whidbey Island at 3.11 pm local time. It left Friday Harbor and was headed toward Seattle Tacoma International Airport at the time of the wreck. The remaining nine passengers are still missing and are presumed to have died in the crash, fire officials told local media.
At least one child was onboard the plane, though no further details about the pilot or passengers have been released. Witnesses described seeing the plane "nosedive" into the water, Lieutenant Jon Gabelein of South Whidbey Fire said. "The darkness right around the corner will be our next challenge...We’ll continue to search the debris in the area, following the tide and the currents. As time goes on, we’ll have the lights and the helicopter has night capabilities as well."
Update: The remaining bodies were recovered on September 6:
Man who was killed in Waterville crash identified as owner of new Iraqi market and deli
September 4, 2022
Waterville, Maine - A man killed in a motorcycle crash on College Avenue this week was an Iraqi immigrant and father of two young children who, with his wife, had just opened an Iraqi market and deli on the avenue last week, a family friend said Friday. Akram Mohammad, 30, had come to the U.S. a few years ago and owned a towing company before opening Iraqi Kabab Market at 174 College Ave. on Aug. 24, according to Jennifer Johnson, who knows the family. Jennifer Johnson said the crash occurred just outside the market, and Mohammad’s wife was the first person at the scene.
The wreck occurred just after 10 a.m. Thursday when the motorcycle Mohammad was driving collided with a passenger van owned by Kennebec Valley Community Action Program, according to Deputy Police Chief William Bonney. Bonney said Friday that Mohammad was driving north on College Avenue when he lost control of the motorcycle before crossing the center line and colliding with the van, which was traveling south. Mohammad was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene. Johnson said the Muslim community is devastated at the death of Mohammad, whose body will be sent to Iraq for burial.
Saco man dies in Route 5 crash Aug. 30
August 31, 2022
Investigators are looking into what may have caused a two-vehicle crash on New County Road in Saco, Maine late Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 30, that claimed the life of a 33-year-old Saco man. Brandon Sheehan was found deceased at the scene, Saco Police said in a statement. Saco Police were called to the area of 178 New County Road for reports of a vehicle crash just before 4:40 p.m. on Aug. 30.
“Officers upon arrival found a white Ford F-250 pickup truck off the roadway on the lawn of a residence and a black Toyota Camry partially still in the roadway, both having been involved in the crash,” Deputy Police Chief Corey Huntress said in a statement issued the evening of Aug. 30. He said the investigation showed the 2008 Ford F-250, operated by Cole Mariner, 48, of Saco, was heading eastbound on New County Road and Sheehan was heading west in a 2022 black Toyota Camry. “The initial investigation shows the Toyota Camry crossed the center line and struck the Ford pickup truck head-on in the crash,” said Huntress. Mariner sustained minor injuries, police said. The crash remains under investigation.

A follow-up to the August 6 report about the nurse who blew through an L.A. intersection at 90 mph:
Nurse in LA horror crash claims she had a 'mental collapse' at the wheel of her speeding Mercedes and Facetimed her sister completely naked just hours before killing six in 90 mph smash
August 31, 2022
The ICU nurse who killed six people in a horrific fiery crash in LA earlier this month when she blew through a red light at 90 mph suffered a 'frightening' mental collapse in the days leading up to the incident, it has been revealed. The revelation concerning the murder charges currently leveled at Nicole Linton, 37, came in the form of a filing from the LA nurse's defense attorneys, who insist their client suffered an 'apparent lapse of consciousness' at the time of the crash.
Obtained by The LA Times, the filing offers a detailed narrative of the suspect's diminishing mental state in the buildup to the incident, which claimed the lives of a pregnant mother, her unborn child and one-year-old son, and four others. Linton, who is from Texas, is currently in custody on the six murder charges, which pertain to the five people as well as the unborn child. She is being held without bail, due to prosecutors belief that she is a flight risk and a danger to the community. The filing argues that Linton has 'no recollection of the events that led to her collision' - and paints a picture of a mentally ill woman who has rapidly lost her sanity over the past four years. [And probably “vaccinated.”]

My dear friends,
It is with deep sadness that I write to inform you of the sudden passing of Father John Skehan, 66, pastor of St. Michael Parish [Augusta, ME]. Father Skehan died Wednesday in the late afternoon, unexpectedly, of natural causes at the home of friends while visiting them on his day off. As you can all imagine, this comes as a shock to all who know and love Father Skehan. Please pray for the repose of his soul, and the consolation of his brother and sister, and all his family and friends. The loss of Father Skehan is a great sorrow for all who have known him. His family, his brother priests, as well as you, his parishioners, are all saddened by his sudden death. In this moment we rely on our faith to strengthen us. It is a time for us to remember that Jesus’ coming among us was, and continues to be, God’s assurance that he is with us in all things, and especially moments of difficulty such as this. Let us pray for each other, then, that we will know that Jesus walks with us in this time of loss.

Family organizing Motocross event in honor of local girl’s sudden death
August 25, 2022
Dubois, Idaho – After the sudden death of their 10-year-old girl, Brock and Kodi Egan are hosting a benefit at the Dubois Rodeo grounds in her memory this weekend. Kylee Egan passed away August 3 from a veinous stroke (a blood clot in the brain) after spending 20 days at Primary Children’s Hospital. Kodi tells EastIdahoNews.com their daughter was completely healthy a month ago and the reason for this unexpected medical issue remains a mystery.
It all began on July 5. Kodi says Kylee woke up with a mild headache. By the end of the day, she had a high fever and “felt terrible.” Her symptoms subsided at the end of the week and Kylee was back to her normal self.
Then on July 14, the headaches returned. Kodi says they were in Dillon, Montana and Kylee got progressively worse after throwing up several times. During a trip to the emergency room, doctors determined Kylee “had a bleed in her brain and had had a stroke.” “They called LifeFlight and were on their way to come get her to take her to Primary Children’s,” says Kodi. By the time Kodi and Brock arrived, a CT scan revealed that Kylee’s brain bleed had doubled in size. Pressure continued to build and doctors ended up removing the left side of her skull due to massive swelling. “Her first full night in the ICU, they put her in a medically-induced coma. The pressure was getting too high and they were hoping that lowering her brain activity would help,” Kodi recalls.
A week later, Kodi says she started having seizures. Doctors kept Kylee heavily sedated for the next five days, which didn’t help the swelling go down like they’d hoped. On July 26, Kylee was not showing any signs of voluntary movement during a reflex test, which meant Kylee was nearly brain dead. Five days later, the Egans were faced with the hardest decision of their life. “We made the difficult decision to take her off of life support,” Kodi says, tearing up. “She passed away at 2 a.m. on August 3.” Kylee’s funeral was held on August 9.

Death row killer who strangled cellmate because he talked too much suddenly dies
August 31, 2022
A killer who was waiting to die on Alabama's Death Row after strangling his 'talkative' cell mate has died before his execution date, authorities say. Patrick Schroeder, 45, died on Monday (August 29) inside Tecumseh state prison and officials do not yet know why. Schroeder had originally been imprisoned for life after being convicted of killing a farmer in southeast Nebraska in 2006. However, in a violent episode n 2017, Schroeder attacked his fellow inmate Terry Berry,22 and strangled him to death. After admitting his crime, Schroeder said he had been pushed to the evil act because Berry was too talkative.
Speaking to the media at the time, Schroeder said he believed he deserved to die for his crimes. Following Berry's murder, the state of Alabama paid his family $479,000 to settle a lawsuit surrounding his death. They argued that as Berry was only in prison for forgery and nearing is own parole he should not have been housed with a dangerous convicted murderer like Schroeder.
The circumstances around Schroeder's death will be the subject of an investigation which will be heard by a grand jury.

He participated in several mission trips to Nicaragua, where he shared the gospel of Jesus Christ and sponsored kids to attend school.

While there is no “vaccine” mandate for the residents of Austin, TX, Austin Public Health (APH), strongly encourages residents to get the “vaccine.” In a statement from APH, they announced in July 2021 they " exceeded its goal of protecting [sic] 70% of residents 12 years and older with at least one dose of vaccine." In the same statement APH reiterated, “Our advice remains the same: Get vaccinated. It’s the best way to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your neighborhood as a whole,” said Interim APH Director Adrienne Sturrup.

Natalie Noel Hodgdon, 43, of Gorham, ME, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 28, 2022. Natalie worked with All Med, as a home care aide, and was a waitress at Rustlers. She took pride in her job and cared deeply for the families she worked with, and with the people she met through the restaurant. Natalie will be remembered for her big heart, beautiful smile and her contagious laugh. She was a free spirit and was loyal to everyone in her life. Her family and friends were very important to her, especially her daughter, Allie Jane. Natalie had a green thumb, enjoyed painting, knitting, and trusted in the protection that the Evil Eye symbol gave her, often wearing it as jewelry.
No cause of death given.

Stalepie, regarding cancer being tied to the vaccine, look up Dr. Ryan Cole online. He is a pathologist who can give solid information regarding this.
Personally, I have a father in law who is radically pro-vaccine, with all the C19 shots allowed. Within 6 months of shots 1 and 2, he was found with 4 different cancers. Skin, bone, lymph and stage 4 stomach. He had battled cancer about 8 years prior.
The vaccine destroys the immune system. My theory is that if you previously battled cancer, if you get the vaccine, it will reoccur with a vengeance.
Seems like that Indiana college town definitely got a "hot lot" of the Covid injections.....
