In memory of those who 'died suddenly,' in Canada, September 5-September 12
Former UFC fighter Elias Theodorou (34), died after "a secret battle with cancer"; Global News reporter Matthew Rodrigopulle (died in his 20s, no cause reported); and 145 others died throughout Canada
CANADA
A note from our lead Canada researcher:
As high as it is—higher even than the toll in Italy, although Canada has a much smaller population—the weekly toll that we have been recording in these compilations is much lower than it ought to be, due to the terseness of obituaries from some large populations.
Specifically, we have had trouble finding data on the “sudden deaths” of Asians, East Indians and Jews throughout the country (three large minorities), and of the Filipinos in Alberta. The death notices from those communities are less detailed than those from the general population.
There is a similar void of information in the Territories—especially about the large indigenous community, whom Trudeau’s police have sought to “vaccinate” by force. It is extremely difficult to find death notices of any kind for that community, whose rate of “sudden deaths” may well be hidden.
What all this means, in short, is that the true rate of “sudden deaths” in Canada is probably much higher than the quite high rate that we’ve recorded here.
Former UFC fighter Elias Theodorou dies at 34
September 11, 2022
According to sources, Elias Theodorou has died following a secret battle with cancer. Out of respect for his family, FanSided will not reveal specific details at this time. Theodorou, of Canada, competed in the UFC's middleweight division and was ranked No. 13 in that division at one time. He exited the UFC in 2019 and competed three more times after that under the Colorado Combat Club, Rise FC, and Prospect Fighting Championships banners. All three were wins. Theodorou was known by fans for his infamous long hair and good looks and was even a male ring card boy for the all-female MMA promotion Invicta. He fought hard to allow cannabis to be legalized for fighters and was the first professional athlete to receive a Therapeutic Use Exemption for cannabis in North America in January 2020.

A heart of gold spread the riches of her warmth to everyone she loved, while being adament in avoiding compliments or the spotlight she more than deserved - but never needed it to shine. Bailey Hannah Louise Mingo, 33
September 9, 2022
Fort McMurray - It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Bailey Hannah Louise Mingo on August 30, 2022, in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Born in Nova Scotia on November 27, 1988, at 33 years old she was far too young for us to say our final goodbye to her. She moved to Alberta to be closer to her sons, with hopes to have regular parenting time with them; unfortunately, that goal was never met. Bailey’s love for her sons and strong determination were what gave her strength each and every day to reach for her goal of being in their lives on a daily basis. While you or I might get discouraged facing similar adversity, Bailey held her head high and powered through any situation life fired in her direction. She never felt sorry for herself and always just put one foot in front of the other. A quote that she wrote on a picture of her holding her son was, “the world stops spinning and fades away the moment I look into your eyes and for that moment I can feel what true love is.” Her desire to be with her sons was immeasurable.

Lloydminster - Georgina “George” Marie Humphrey was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She left this world unexpectedly on September 3, 2022 at the age of 64 years. Her battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed her courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, George came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. George’s family was everything to her and there was no place she’d rather be than in the kitchen preparing delicious food for her loved ones. She loved baking muffins and cookies with her grand babies, with flour covering their noses and countertops. All the best adventures happened at Grandma’s House. She would spend her summers carefully caring for and tending to her garden and flowers and searching garden centers for just the right plants. Canning with her sister, and their many mischievous adventures always brought a smile to her face. Having coffee with her dear friends, volunteering with the Lions Club of Lloydminster and spoiling her dogs, were high on her list of favourite things to do. George put up an incredible fight against cancer… three wins…none of us saw this coming.

I am in my mid-sixties. All these sudden deaths of 30 and 40 year olds really bothers me. I’ve lived a long life it seems but theirs are cut so short. So much death and dying. And the babies. From what I’ve read, it only touches on the fringes of the baby deaths. Most of those are not reported in the media. It is all so very tragic.
Died "after a short battle with aggressive cancer" is another new "norm".
