Tony Dow, the all-American Wally on ‘Leave It to Beaver,’ dies at 77
July 27, 2022
Kind words: 'Tony leaves an empty place in my heart that won’t be filled. He was always the kindest, most generous, gentle, loving, sincere, and humble man, that it was my honor and privilege to be able to share memories together with for 65 years,' Jerry Mathers wrote on Facebook before the announcement had been corrected; seen in 1957
Tony Dow, the actor who endeared himself to millions of TV viewers as Wally Cleaver, the all-American big brother on the wholesome sitcom “Leave It to Beaver,” died July 27 at his home in Topanga, Calif. He was 77. The cause was complications from liver cancer, said his manager, Frank Bilotta. Mr. Dow’s managerial team incorrectly announced his death a day earlier, relying on erroneous family information.
“Leave It to Beaver,” airing from 1957 to 1963, depicted an idyllic suburban postwar American household and became a cultural touchstone of the baby-boom generation. Hugh Beaumont was the handsome, ever-patient father, Ward Cleaver, and Barbara Billingsley played the glamorous and understanding matriarch, June, who vacuumed in high heels and always tucked her boys into their beds.

Jimmy Sohns, Who Sang ‘Gloria’ With Shadows of Knight, Dead at 75
July 29, 2022
Jimmy Sohns, lead singer of the 1960s band Shadows of Knight—best known for the hit “Gloria”—has died at the age of 75 after suffering a stroke earlier in the week.
Shadows of Knight, based in Chicago, put out three albums in five years, and their big single—originally written and recorded by Van Morrison and later by Laura Branigan—hit No. 10 on the Billboard charts. They had a few other lesser hits before the group all but disintegrated, leaving Sohns to re-form it and carry on. They put out one more album in 1970—and then again during a comeback of sorts in 2006.
Sohns was inducted into the Chicago Rock ’n Roll Hall of Fame in 2005 and later told an interviewer he could not believe his dreams had come true.
'Metal missionary' Michael Bloodgood dies after months-long health battle
July 29, 2022
Michael Bloodgood, a heavyweight in the world of Christian rock, has died according to reports from his band. Michael died at 8:15 a.m. CDT on Friday, July 29, 2022, according to a Facebook post from his beloved band, Bloodgood. "After a gallant fight that began with a severe hemorrhagic stroke in February 2022 he's gone home to be with our Heavenly Father," the band says.
Michael suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and subsequent brain bleed on February 21, while over 2,000 miles from his home. He was airlifted to hospital at that time and never fully recovered. "We'll cherish Michael's generous spirit, off-beat sense of humour, and musical soul. His devotion to the Lord and sharing of the Gospel through his ministry as a pastor and musician touched countless lives," Bloodgood says about its founding member.
The band was one of the biggest names in Chrisitian heavy metal in the 1980s. Their image drew criticism from some Christians who didn't appreciate the band's sound or fashion. Michael, however, never shied that the only reason for forming the band was to proclaim the name of Jesus and witness to heavy metal music fans.

Nick Garrison, a theatrical force in Seattle and beyond, dies at 47
July 30, 2022
Like many Seattle theatergoers, I’ll never forget the first time I saw Nick Garrison onstage. It was 1998, at the nightclub and performance venue Re-bar, during the run of “Dirty Little Showtunes!,” a musical revue wherein musical-theater standards were fitted with new and very gay lyrics by writer Tom Orr. Among the cast was baby-faced newcomer Nick Garrison, who appeared onstage in a smoking jacket and ascot to perform “I Am the Very Model of a Modern Homosexual,” a spin on “The Pirates of Penzance”’s Major-General patter song, which the 24-year-old Garrison turned into a showstopper. The sheer talent emanating from the diminutive figure onstage was staggering: While his mouth delivered the tongue-twisting lyrics with a wry smile, his eyes — huge and sparkling — kept him intimately engaged with the audience. His ownership of the song and the stage was total, and it was clear to all present that we were in the presence of a star.
Now, suddenly, this beloved star has shot out of view. On July 22, while hiking on the Burke-Gilman trail, Garrison died of as-yet-undetermined causes, according to his sister Lisa Wooley. He was 47.

Emi Wilkerson, 16 months old
July 30, 2022
Tifton, Ga. - A family in Georgia said their daughter recently died due to a rare neurological disorder, and they are sharing their story to help others. The Wilkerson family said their baby, Emi, got a cold, but her health suddenly turned for the worse.
“I decided to see if she could fight it on her own. We had all the equipment at home. I used the oxygen to keep up with her breathing and we used the suction machine and breathing treatments,” Emi’s mother, Michelle Wilkerson, said. But Emi’s condition reached a point where the family decided to take her to the hospital. “When she got sickest, we called the paramedics and went to the hospital, but then she passed,” Wilkerson said.
Wilkerson said her daughter had a rare disease called KIF1A Associated Neurological Disorder. The family said baby Emi died on July 22 at Wayne Memorial Hospital at 16 months old, with a funeral held on Tuesday. Emi’s mother said several parents who also lost a child to KIF1A have reached out to her in support.
The baby’s mother, Michelle Wilkerson, had been “vaccinated,” as she noted on her Facebook page:
I’m having an autoimmune flare up!
My psoriasis has flared up all over my body and I’m limping from the inflammation pain in my hips.
“Autoimmune” is mentioned in the literature of every vaccine. I’ve had COVID and the vaccine, that’s a huge reason in itself to be as healthy as possible.

A New York fashion designer “died unexpectedly”:
Katie Marie Gallagher, 36
August 1, 2022
Katie was a painter and internationally-recognized fashion designer. She embodied the strong work ethic of a Leo, her star sign, and strived for perfection in all of her designs. Her newest tattoo, completed just weeks before she died, depicted Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows – seven, the biblical reference to completion and perfection.
Katie established her own fashion line, Katie Gallagher, in New York City in 2010. Under this label, she completed 26 collections that premiered during New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. She was working on her 27th collection, which she planned to show this fall.
Like A.A. Milne's Eeyore, she preferred gloomy days and cold rain. As a child, she was drawn to the woods, mixing potions and playing there with her sisters. Animals were drawn to her gentle and calm demeanor. She could talk to them and once even touched a deer in the stillness of the trees. She loved poetry and heavy metal. She felt deeply, though she couldn't always articulate it, and she had an enormous, forgiving heart. When she was younger, she was an obsessive athlete, a gymnast, and a state qualifying long-distance runner. Katie loved Halloween, witches, and ghosts, and had the tattoos to let everyone know it.
She was unique, beautiful, smart, unabashed, and always wanting. She was hardworking and talented, with so many ideas and plans for future projects. We are so proud of who she was and all she achieved in her brief but full and beautiful life. She was Katie, our daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
Katie died unexpectedly at her home in New York City on Saturday, July 23, 2022. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined.
