A 36-year-old man was found dead in his apartment in Cergy (Val-d'Oise) on Wednesday around 3 a.m. When help arrived, the victim was in cardiorespiratory arrest, reports La Gazette du Val-d’Oise. Present at the scene, the police tried to resuscitate him using cardiac massage. Firefighters then took over. In vain. Despite their efforts, the 36-year-old could not be revived. For the time being, the precise circumstances of the events have not yet been determined. According to our colleagues, the man did not suffer from any health problem. His son Luca shared this on Facebook and FuPa Luxembourg was confirmed by a good friend Theis'. He succumbed to the consequences of a heart attack and a subsequent fall that he suffered during a bicycle tour in the summer. Dan Theis lived for football every day, played 279 times for "his" record champion Jeunesse Esch, and scored a total of 122 goals in the former national division for the club from the "border". Theis became Luxembourg champion seven times with Jeunesse and won the cup three times. Born in Escher, he played 34 times for the Luxembourg national team between 1991 and 2001. Michael Hohmann shaped literary life in Frankfurt for 30 years. Now the head of the novel factory has died unexpectedly. When he came down the stairs with his guests, the reading could begin. Or the concert. Or the lively discussion. The program of events that Michael Hohmann put together over three decades in the Romanfabrik on Hanauer Landstrasse contained all of his interests, was based on his entire ability, his joy in the arts, his trust in them. He often asked the poets and writers who were his guests the questions that the audience at the small tables in front of the stage wanted to know answered. Hohmann loved conversation, exchanging ideas and arguments, encountering new things, combining thoughtfulness with wit, jokes and laughter. He was born in Darmstadt on September 13, 1954. He studied Romance languages and philosophy in Mainz, worked as a teacher and received his doctorate with a thesis on Alexandre Dumas the Elder. He taught literature and trained as an actor before taking over the facility in 1992, which allowed him to ask whatever was close to his heart, to the delight of the Frankfurt audience.

Boxing prodigy Vassilis Topalos, 16, dies after catastrophic incident

Young boxing prodigy Vassilis Topalos – tipped to be a future professional world champion - died after a series of tragic circumstances left him in an intensive care unit. Topalos, just 16 years old and with European Youth honors to his name, suffered a catastrophic incident in mid-December. The Greek boxer was sparring at Tavros Gym when he became unwell, as reported by Proto Thema. The training session was immediately stopped, and Topalos returned to the locker room to try and gather himself. However, he fainted and hit his head on the floor, adding to already suspected injuries to his skull. Those present called medical services, and Topalos was subsequently rushed to Tzanios Hospital. Doctors fought hard to save Topalos and placed the teenager in ICU. He remained there for more than two weeks but sadly succumbed to his injuries. Whether it was the sparring, the fall, or a combination of both is yet to be ascertained. Nikos Yidakos, a trainer in the gym, spoke to Proto Thema to give his first-hand account. He said Topalos was found by another young fighter, Alik Lagazashvili, who heard the fall and went to the locker room to check on his gym mate. Lagazashvili informed the father and owner of the establishment, and they called the emergency services. Sadly, despite surgery to remove a hematoma, Topalos couldn’t be saved.
