ABC News producer Dax Tejera died in December from choking on food while intoxicated ― not from a heart attack as originally reported, officials told People on Wednesday. Tejera, 37, was stricken on Dec. 23 from “asphyxia due to obstruction of airway by food bolus complicating acute alcohol intoxication,” the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner told the outlet. ABC News president Kim Godwin informed staff in the immediate aftermath that Tejera, an executive producer on “This Week,” had died of a heart attack. ABC declined to comment on the latest development.

We learned yesterday that one of the group's core members — David Jolicoeur, aka Trugoy the Dove, aka Plug Two — has come to the end of his own journey at the age of 54. As of this time, no cause of death has been announced, but in 2017, Jolicoeur revealed that he was suffering from congestive heart problems. On Feb. 5, when De La Soul was feted as part of this year's Grammy Awards' celebration of hip-hop's 50th anniversary, Trugoy was conspicuously absent from the proceedings.

A niece confirmed the news on Facebook. “Omg no not my uncle Charley Norris 😢 😢 😢 RIP man he always had something to message me I had a chance to go say hi the other day but didn’t SMH man that’s always gonna bug me now,” wrote Shantel Potter Brun. Norris was born October 21, 1963, in Red Lake, Minnesota, and went to Red Lake Senior High School, a part of the Red Lake Indian Reservation. He was close with his family, learning from his elders. Always athletic, he filled out into a 6-foot-6, 298-wrestler by the time Eddie Sharkey had finished training him. By day, Norris had been a youth counselor.

A cause of death has not been revealed, but according to Arroyo's support website, Grayson was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006 — just three days after his sixth birthday. “I’m heart broken to share that my sweet Gray passed away Sunday night. It was very unexpected as last week he had CSF drawn from his shunts and they adjusted the valve setting of his shunt and he was doing much better,” she wrote via Instagram alongside a photo of her son. “We were still struggling with his diarrhea and I was giving him potassium 3 times a day because it was dropping so low. His heart stopped here at home and I performed chest compressions to get it going until the paramedics arrived and took over. When he left for the hospital he looked good and was breathing on his own but his heart gave out again at the hospital.” While Arroyo said that she doesn't “have all the answers now,” she shared that Grayson had been dealing with “fevers, infection and low potassium" for the last few months and that "most likely took a toll on my sweet boys heart."

Steve Sostak, the saxophonist and vocalist for Chicago-based indie/experimental projects such as Sweep The Leg Johnny, Check Engine, and ZZZZ, has died, Stereogum can confirm. He was 49. Originally from Chicago, Sostak’s Facebook page had the performer currently living in Beijing. More recently, he co-founded Inspire Citizens, an organization “empowering diverse teachers and students toward impactful action.” Coming up in the music scene, Sostak attended the University Of Notre Dame, where he met guitarist Chris Daly. The two performed in Check Engine between 1993 and 1994. Later, they relocated to Chicago, where they, drummer Scott Anna, and bassist Matt Alicea formed Sweep The Leg Johnny. The band released five albums (including a live album), beginning with 1997’s 4.9.21.30 and leading up to 2002’s Going Down Swingin’.

A high school student who suffered a cardiac arrest during a basketball game has died, according to Fox2 Detroit. Eighteen-year-old Cartier Woods, from Northwestern High School, had been on life support at Henry Ford Hospital since January 31, when he collapsed on the court during a match against Douglass High School. He died on Monday, a relative told the news outlet. Cartier's family held a vigil for him, where a large number of friends and family members offered prayers for the teenager. After he collapsed, the coach tried to perform CPR to revive him but was unable to do so. The paramedics then used an Automated External Defibrillator on him and rushed him to the hospital, as per the Fox2 report.

Former University of Georgia standout Lilly Kimbell reportedly died on Sunday, according to her family. Kimbell's family says that she had been experiencing kidney issues that led to a heart attack. CPR was performed at her home and she was transported to the hospital, but her family tragically were forced to make the decision to take her off of life support. “We were stunned and heartbroken to learn of Lilly passing away,” said Georgia head coach Jeff Wallace. “I will always remember how she helped create a culture of excellence with her attitude and work ethic. Lilly was a fantastic teammate and was always smiling and laughing during practice and matches. She ranks as one of the most successful doubles players in Georgia tennis history. He was assigned to RGV Sector in Edinburg, Texas. He passed away yesterday of a sudden heart attack. Unit medical personnel began, officials said, as the aircrew made an emergency diversion to Amarillo, Texas. When they landed, Franklin was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

Harrisburg, Pa. — A 30-year-old woman found dead in the area of 3rd and South streets in Harrisburg Wednesday afternoon died of a medical episode, a city spokesperson said Thursday. The woman's body was found shortly before 3 p.m., according to Matt Maisel, Director of Communications for the City of Harrisburg. Her death was initially ruled suspicious, because police and other emergency responders could not immediately determine her cause of death, Maisel said. But an autopsy determined the woman, identified by Dauphin County Press Secretary Brett Hambright as Amber M. Wampler, of Grantville, died of complications of myocardial fibrosis. Her cause of death was ruled natural by the Dauphin County Coroner's Office, Hambright said. No foul play was involved, nor were any drug paraphernalia or other suspicious items found at the scene, according to Maisel.

Per a news release from the O'Fallon Police Department, the body of David Foster was discovered in a retention pond at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon on Monday. Foster apparently drove into the pond after having a medical emergency, the department said. "We do not suspect any foul play as it was previously reported Mr. Foster may have been suffering from some type of medical emergency and was reported to be in route to the hospital the day he went missing," the department said.

He will also be remembered for his love of trains and his fur children Frankie and Michael. Douglas was a true "animal whisperer."
