East Haven, CT - Michael Vincent Parrino, 31, of East Haven died suddenly at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Michael, a lifelong East Haven resident and 2010 EHHS graduate, was known as a hard worker and loving father. He was a self-employed sheet rocker and taper.
He is also survived by his daughter, Ashlinn Elizabeth Parrino, a brother, Joseph A. Parrino, and fiancé Nicole Pechinski, all of East Haven, his maternal grandmother, Helen Silva of New Haven, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Michael A. Verchimak, age 56 of Lincoln, Illinois and formerly of Joliet, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 23, 2022. He was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School with the class of 1983. While at Joliet Catholic High School, Michael won the Religion Award and received a scholarship to play basketball for Augustana College in Rock Island.
Following graduation, Michael pursued and obtained a Bachelor's Degree with a triple major in Accounting, Business and Mathematics from Augustana College. After his achievements in academics, Michael felt the need to proudly serve his country and enlisted in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, Michael became the youngest cadet to earn the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
After his time with the United States Navy, Michael was a successful sports nutritionist and worked with several college athletic programs and young athletes. Outside of his professional interests, Michael loved to travel and excelled in the sport of Kickboxing.

Brian E. Wible, 59, of Baptist Church Road, Three Springs, PA, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 28, 2022, in Jonestown.
Mr. Wible retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission as a materials manager.
During his lifetime, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, riding around on his Polaris Ranger, dirt track racing and going to his brother Larry’s every Sunday to talk about the races from the weekend.

Paul's education led him to a fast paced job as owner of Image Advertising not long after graduation. Alicia Phillip, daughter of late George Phillip, dies, aged 52

Alicia Phillip, elder daughter of Janette and Dr George Phillip, the late industrial relations expert and businessman, died suddenly in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on April 21, 2022. She was 52.
“Alicia was a generous, witty, and dedicated individual who loved painting and was passionate about seeing the world evolve into a place where love and compassion were respected and cherished,” the family said in a tribute to Phillip.
Alicia Phillip hailed from Montego Bay, St James (Jamaica), where she was born on December 24, 1969. She attended Immaculate Conception High School and later graduated from International Fine Arts College, Miami, Florida, with a degree in fashion merchandising.
Her passion for the arts led her down several professional paths including jewellery design, painting, fashion design and other creative and artistic endeavours. Her diverse range of interests also led to a job as a flight attendant with the former Air Jamaica.

Gerald “Jerry” William Miller, 54, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, at the University of Utah following a sudden illness. His wife and children were by his side.
Jerry was born in Sonora, California, on April 7, 1968. He spent time living in California, Colorado, and Utah, before settling in Green River. Jerry attended college at Mesa State University in Grand Junction Colorado.
Jerry loved all things sports, especially football. He loved watching the USC Trojans, LA Rams, LA Lakers and the LA Dodgers, but his absolute favorite athletes were his children.

Clark, NJ – A fundraising initiative has been established for the family of the late David ‘Dave’ Pepe, a Clark resident and member of the Union County Sheriff's Office who passed away unexpectedly last week.
Pepe, 45, died April 27 and, in an effort to help his wife, Elizabeth (nee Zamorski) and their three daughters, Olivia, 9, and Audrianna and Ally, both 7, township resident Christina Gallo launched a GoFundMe that, as of press time, has raised over $91,000.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — Before his sudden death, the joy of Union County Lieutenant David Pepe's life was his three daughters.
Pepe, a lieutenant at the Union County Sheriff's Office, recently died unexpectedly. Christina Gallo, who organized a GoFundMe page on behalf of Lt. Pepe's wife, Elizabeth, said the lieutenant was well-respected by the Clark community.
Gallo wrote on the GoFundMe that Elizabeth's number one focus right now is her three daughters — Olivia, who is nine years old, and seven-year-olds Audrianna and Ally.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue mourns loss of Engineer Garrett A. Opper

Jacksonville, Fla. — The St. Johns County Fire Rescue is mourning one of their own this week. SJFR posted on Twitter that Engineer Garrett A. Opper died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home. "SJCFR is deeply saddened and has extended the Department's heartfelt condolences to his family," the agency said.
Engineer Opper began his career with St. Johns County Fire Rescue in 2016, and in October 2021, he was promoted to the rank of Engineer and assigned to Station 1.

Lisa was an active proud firefighter for the Town of Southborough and served as a call-firefighter for the Towns of Medway and Sherborn previously.

A teacher “died suddenly” while surfing with his son:
Martin Mackey, 47, was a creative teacher who always believed in his students; an avid outdoorsman, he died while surfing with his son off Cape Cod.

When Martin Mackey was a teacher at the REAL School on Mackworth Island and trees fell on the property, he taught his students how to mill the wood and build a tongue-and-groove shed. For physical education class, he took them on adventures kayaking, hiking and rock climbing.
“He was a very out-of-the-box kind of innovative thinker,” said his sister, Marisa Mackey, of Tempe, Arizona. “He loved finding that spark in each child and developing that so they would feel like they had something special to offer the world. He did that for every student. He saw the potential and good in everyone.”
Mackey died April 20 while surfing with his son, Wyeth, off Lecount Hollow Beach in Wellfleet, Massachusetts. He was 47.
He’d been surfing for about 15 minutes when he appeared to lose consciousness, his sister said. Other surfers carried him out of the water and performed CPR, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. An autopsy was performed to determine how he died. The results are pending.
He was known for his creative thinking, positive outlook and adventurous spirit.
Mackey was an extreme endurance athlete, who shared his passion for cycling, canoeing, skiing, climbing, surfing and skateboarding with his family. In the online tribute, he can be seen after a bike ride, covered in sweat and mud and flashing a wide, toothy smile. Photos show him cross-country skiing, on winter hikes, standing atop mountains.
Inmate at St. Louis' City Justice Center jail dies

St. Louis — A 48-year-old inmate whose trial for sodomy charges was about to start Monday died at a hospital after collapsing inside the city’s downtown jail.
Corrections staff took Robert Lee Miller from the City Justice Center to a hospital at 1:42 a.m. Thursday, where he was pronounced dead, according to a police source.
Police didn’t have any additional information about the circumstances of his death, other than calling it a “sudden death,” according to the source.
The Medical Examiner said an autopsy was performed Thursday morning.
“A medical emergency was called for a detainee after midnight early April 28. The detainee arrived on the medical floor, collapsed, and medical staff began resuscitation efforts. EMS was contacted, arrived on scene, and then took over resuscitation efforts. EMS left CJC with the detainee for SSM SLU Hospital. The detainee was pronounced dead at 1:42 am.”

A life well lived! Tom Gehlen unexpectedly joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in his heavenly home on December 8, 2021, from Tom’s home in Sunnyside, WA.
Tom attended Garfield Elementary School, Toppenish and St. Paul’s School and Central Catholic High School in Yakima, being in the last graduating class from there. After graduation he was in the Army and spent the most of his time in Germany.
When Tom returned to civilian life, he attended CWU in Ellensburg. He worked for Del Monte Food Corp for a short time and then for St. Vincent de Paul Stores, 1976-2004, as financial officer and later as Director of the St. Vincent de Paul stores in the Yakima Diocese. He worked at Prestige Care in Sunnyside 2006-2018. Tom enjoyed employment that helped and cared for others.

April worked for the RSSS as a nutrition specialist for Erwin Middle and West Rowan elementary schools and enjoyed every smile and hug from the children and even staff at school. April was a very loving and kind, and looked for the best in people and life. She will be forever missed.

Norwich, VT — Ryder Winslow Sherwin, 47, died suddenly of natural causes at his home in Norwich, VT on March 9, 2022.
Ryder's enthusiasm for life showed in his love of sports. He was a gifted athlete who figure-skated, played hockey, swam on the swim team, sailed and was co-captain of the soccer team in high-school. Ryder found his great love for ski racing at 10, moving quickly up through the ranks of the Ford Sayre Program, into FIS racing where he had considerable success.
At 17 Ryder went on a 3-week Outward Bound sailing course out of Rockland, ME, an experience that made a lasting impression. He was hired by Outward Bound to staff one of their business training seminars, and it seemed a great match for his skills and interests.
In high school Ryder was a National Merit Semifinalist. He was recruited by the Naval Academy, but opted for early-decision at Dartmouth, a school where he was fourth generation, in the class of 1997.

Sam was very talented; from the early age of 4 he could draw, paint, and carve, right down to his designs out of avocado seeds. Sam did many jobs throughout his life. At the age of 18 he went to college in Oneonta, New York to study art. At 23 he went into the Army and trained as a medic. He was honorably discharged in 2016.
He loved to throw his backpack on and just walk, never knowing where he would end up or find along the way. Because of his backpack, his nieces and nephews called him Uncle Hobo. He would carry so many necessities in that bag such as wooden utensils, fire starters, water filter and nonperishable foods. He was fun loving and kind and would lend a helping hand to anyone that may need it. With a heart bigger than anyone knew, Sam believed in the Tibetan religion which he practiced and believed.

Justino was born on April 14th 1969 in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua. At 16 years old, he came to the United States were he met his Wife at 21 years old and began his new life. He was an employee at Alpine Vending for nearly 30 years. He was a mentor to many of those that he worked with, and was very passionate about his job!
Justino was an amazing father/husband/grandfather/brother, who loved being around his family. His grandchildren were his ray of light that brought him so much joy. Justino loved being outdoors in the sun, fishing, cooking carnitas in the sunset, having carne asadas, watering his grass, and most of all, making jokes. He had a joke for any occasion. Justino was a very humble man, always willing to give you the last dollar he had if you needed it. He always worked hard to provide for his family so that his family did not have to go without. Justino will be dearly missed, but forever in our hearts.

Camden, ME – Lynette Jane Dickey O’Hara died unexpectedly of natural causes on April 16, 2022, surrounded by her husband and friends in Nokomis, Fla.
Growing up in Camden she loved spending time with her large extended family and friends at the “camp” on Megunticook Lake. Lyn graduated from Camden Rockport High School in 1975 and attended Husson College in Bangor where she graduated with an associate degree in accounting in 1977. Lyn was proud to be part of the infamous Camden Rockport Cheerleaders who were noted for their half-time performances during their first ever Maine State Basketball Championship.
She raised her three sons at her home in Rockport and later in life spent winters in Nokomis, Fla. She enjoyed the sunsets and boat rides at her Florida home that her grandchildren called the “The Towers”. Lyn, a devoted mother, did anything to support her son’s sports careers, even strapping skates, pads, and hockey gear to drive at 5 a.m. to the homemade ice rink at Maine Sport in below freezing temperatures.

David attended WITC in 1971, taking wood technics for 2 years. Upon graduation, he went to work with his father, forming Jellen Carpentry. Because he was very skilled as a carpenter, he stayed quite busy!
David enjoyed hunting and fishing, taking many trips out West to Colorado and Wyoming to hunt mule deer and elk, some of which were mounted and hung proudly in the living room at his home.

Michael Hopsecker, age 61, of New Bloomfield, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at his home that he shared with his wife of 42 years, Ronda.
He loved his family! He loved to tinker, cut wood and work on the garden. He instilled a love of reading and movies in his sons, mostly for sci-fi and silly comedies. He also loved mystery and trivia books and would have kicked butt on Jeopardy, but he never liked the camera being pointed at him. He loved animals and enjoyed playing with and throwing balls for his adopted mini Aussie, Toasty, and his grandpup, Watson. When he sat down he often had a cat or dog on his lap.

Brian Normand Lizotte, 44, of Hamden, died unexpectedly at home on April 24, 2022.
A graduate of Amity High School in Woodbridge, Brian went on to Yale where he earned B.A. and M.S. degrees in Psychology (Class of 2000) and was awarded the Alpheus Henry Snow Prize for "inspiring in his classmates an admiration and love for the best traditions of high scholarship."
Brian also earned an Ed.M from Boston University and received his J.D. from Yale Law School (Class of 2006). While he was an avid student, his passion was for teaching. Most recently, Brian was an educational consultant/owner of Lizotte Learning Consultants. He previously taught mathematics at Groton High School in Massachusetts, practiced law in the Office of General Counsel at Yale and at a large law firm, and also served as an Associate Provost for Humanities at Yale.
Brian was kind, playful, and compassionate. Brian loved teaching, numbers, sports, music, and theater; he often found ways to blend these passions. He coached Blake's basketball team in North Haven, was an avid bowler, participated in a fantasy football league, played the piano, performed in an undergraduate improv comedy group, loved all board games, could do long division in his head as a party trick, and was a lifelong fan of Boston sports.

Le Mars, IA - Carol K. (Hamann) Taylor, 65, of Le Mars, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at her home in Le Mars.
Carol Kathleen Taylor was born on Jan. 23, 1957, in Le Mars, the daughter of William and Mildred (Hammatt) Hamann. She graduated from Le Mars Community High School. Following high school, Carol attended Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City, where she studied as a dental assistant.
Throughout the years, Carol worked at K-Products and Tyson Foods in Orange City. She finished her working life at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars where she served as the manager of the laundry department. Carol was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She was an avid reader and was very accomplished at embroidery.

Bishop Daniel Dolan dead, 70

It seems that somehow word has gotten out faster than we ourselves could get it out. I regret to confirm/inform everyone that Bp. Dolan has passed away suddenly today, April 26, Mother of Good Counsel. Please pray for his soul and for all of us.
Daniel Lytle Dolan was born on May 28, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, United States. In 1965, he began preparing to serve as a clergyman at the Archbishop’s Little Seminary in Detroit. He went on to study at the Cistercian Order and the Seminary of the Fraternity of Traditionalism of St. Pius X (SSPX) in Eckone, Switzerland.
On June 29, 1976, Dolan was ordained a priest at the Écône by SSPX Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. In 1977, Dolan returned to the United States, where he established more than 35 traditionalist mass centers.

Akron, Ohio - Renee Kathleen Burns, 45, passed away suddenly April 22, 2022 from complications of an illness. Her loving family was by her side. Born in Akron, Ohio to Thomas and Christine (Harmon) Burns, she was a lifelong area resident.
Renee was a very gentle human being, amazingly strong, and hilarious even through tremendous hardships. Her compassion and empathy knew no limits. She always wanted to help people with her full ability. For 15 years she worked as a First Responder for the City of Akron Police Department. After leaving her career, she continued to help as many people as she possibly could. She will continue to aid people even in death by being an organ donor.

Megan A. Nebel, 37, formerly of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Sunday afternoon, April 24, 2022, at her home in Pittsburgh.
A 2002 graduate of Neshannock High School, she attended Penn State University, graduating in 2006. Megan furthered her education at The University of Pittsburgh where she achieved her master's degree in the School of Social Work.
Megan was employed with Springstone Health Inc. where she was director of outpatient quality.
She treasured spending time with her family, friends and especially loved her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed exercising and jogging. She will be missed by her three cats who she loved dearly.
