Aline Kominsky-Crumb, feminist underground cartoonist, dead at 74

Aline Kominsky-Crumb, an underground feminist cartoonist whose dark, raunchy comics in the 1970s made her a heroine to women worldwide, died Wednesday. She was 74. Kominsky-Crumb died at her home in a village near Nimes, France, The Washington Post reported. The cause of death was cancer, Alexander Wood, the manager of the website that sells the cartoonist’s work, told The Associated Press. Her husband, cartoonist Robert Crumb, told the Post that she died of pancreatic cancer. “She was the hub of the wheel within her family and community,” the website wrote in announcing her death. “She had a huge amount of energy which she poured into her artwork, her daughter, her grandchildren and the meals which brought everyone together.” Kominsky-Crumb was a close collaborator of her cartoonist husband, Robert Crumb, but she had her own style of drawing. Her black-and-white cartoons depicted the sexualized counterculture through stories of women who were not glamorous. The women were self-depictions of Kominsky-Crumb, who once said, “I’m not capable of making anything up,” according to the Post.

Finnish Footballer Roni Peiponen Dies at 25

Roni Peiponen was a Finnish footballer born on April 9, 1997. He started playing football at a very young age and played for HJK Helsinki as a defender. He was known for his remarkable footwork and fearless approach to claiming the ball. In November 2015, Peiponen moved from HJK to Norwegian side Molde FK on a three-and-a-half-year contract. He was later loaned to Asane from Molde FK in April 2016. In November 2017, Peiponen returned to HJK Helsinki. The early retirement at the age of 23 came due to persistent injuries and the stress caused by them. However, Peipone returned to playing football this year. He played for Kolmo in Atletico Malmi and also played a number of other games. Roni Peiponen died on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. He was just 25 at the time of his sudden death. The tragic news of Peiponen’s death was announced by his former club HJK Helsinki a day later on December 1st. The news was later confirmed by his family members to the local news outlets. The football world is currently mourning the death of the young player who went away too soon. Tributes have emerged online for the man who once graced the green fields.

Tragic accident in Lanzarote: dies after suffering a heart attack while riding a bicycle

Davor Janjić, one of the great Yugoslav actors, died at the age of 54 in Belgrade. He will be remembered for a series of brilliant roles, among which stand out the roles in the films "Charuga" by Rajko Grlić and "Ovo malo duše" by Ademir Kenović, where he played Nihad Halilović. According to information from Avaz, Janjić died last night in Belgrade at the Military Medical Academy. As his friend Ahmed Burić told the "Avaza" portal, Davor had been breathing hard for several days, he had suffocation. However, it is not yet known what exactly caused his death. Zagreb - Retired Croatian Army General and former Defence Minister Pavao Miljavac died suddenly last night, the Croatian Generals Association (HGZ) said on Tuesday morning. He was 69. Miljavac served as HGZ President for two terms and was later elected Honorary President of the association. During the 1991-1995 Homeland War, he held several positions in the Croatian Armed Forces, including as Assistant and Deputy Chief of the General Staff. In 1996, he was promoted to the rank of General and appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, in which position he remained until 1998. From 14 October 1998 to 27 January 2000, Miljavac served as Defence Minister in the government of Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa. After the parliamentary election in 2000, he entered Parliament as a member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). He then left the HDZ and joined the newly-formed Democratic Centre. Eventually he returned to the HDZ and became involved in veteran-related issues.
