Bengaluru - Sandalwood actor and TV serial Director Nitin Gopi died of heart attack on Friday. He was 39. Nitin is the son of noted flautist Gopi and was residing in an apartment at Ittamadu. According to family sources, Nitin complained of chest pain and was being rushed to a hospital, but didn’t survive enroute. As a child actor Nitin had shot to fame by sharing screen space with veteran actor Vishnuvardhan, in a runaway hit film ‘Hello Daddy’. The song ‘Shaalege Edina Raja…’ where Nitin danced along with Vishnuvardhan was a chartbuster. Nitin had also acted with Vishnuvardhan in ‘Nishyabdha’, followed by other films like ‘Chirabandhavya’, ‘Keralida Kesari’ and ‘Muththinantha Hendati’ as a child actor. Later, Nitin took to direction and had donned the cap for the daily soaps produced under the reputed banners like- Shruti Naidu Productions and Balaji Telefilms. He had also called the shots for some of the episodes of ‘Hara Hara Mahadev’ that was filmed in Mumbai. Nitin was a bachelor and was staying along with his parents.

Malayalam actor Harish Pengan, who was suffering from liver ailments, passed away at a private hospital here on Tuesday, film industry sources said. The 49-year-old actor was admitted to the hospital early this month following stomach pain and after certain medical tests, it was diagnosed that his condition was serious. The doctors had suggested a liver transplant and Pengan’s twin sister agreed to be the donor but as they did not have Rs three million for it, the actor’s friends started to raise funds. However, Pengan’s condition deteriorated and he passed away on 3.25 p.m.

Bahraich - A newlywed couple was found dead at their home in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday - a day after their marriage. According to a report by the Hindustan Times, 24-year-old Pratap Yadav married 22-year-old Pushpa Yadav on Tuesday. The newlyweds returned to their home in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich on Wednesday after the overnight wedding celebrations. Pratap and Pushpa, after performing some post-wedding rituals, went to sleep in their room and were found dead the next morning. A team of forensic experts were also called to examine the room to ascertain the reason behind their death, the report said. Their autopsy report suggests they died of heart attack, the report said quoting Prashant Verma, Superintendent of Police, Balrampur. The couple had no medical history, officials said. They said there were no signs of forced entry into the room or injury marks on their bodies. Inspector in-charge of Kaiserganj police station, Rajnath Singh, said the autopsy findings saying that the couple died of heart attack at the same time has raised some apprehensions.

A 16-year-old boy in Telangana died of a heart attack on his birthday and his family cut the cake with his body to honour him. The incident took place in the Asifabad district of Telangana on Friday. Friends, family and neighbours had gathered to celebrate 16-year-old CH Sachin’s birthday at his house in Babapur village in Asifabad Mandal. Sachin’s family planned a grand celebration and bought a cake. His photos were printed in flexi form and hung around the house. Sachin suddenly collapsed in the midst of the celebrations. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. The doctors said Sachin died due to a heart attack. The grieving family afterwards cut the cake with Sachin’s body in his honour.

Irudhunagar - It was a narrow escape for 62 passengers after the driver of a government bus succumbed to a heart attack behind the wheel near Sethurajapuram in Aruppukottai on Friday. As the deceased, Murugesaraja (54), began to lose control of the vehicle, bus conductor Tirupathi (39) rushed to the driver's cabin and steered the vehicle to safety. Around 1.10 pm on Friday, Murugesaraja drove the Tiruchy-bound bus out from Tiruchendur bus stand. After driving for around 140 km, the driver fainted and lost control of the vehicle on Thoothukudi-Madurai NH around 3.40 pm. Immediately, Tirupathi took control of the steering and applied brakes. "When I stopped the bus, one nurse, who was among the passengers, checked Murugesaraja's pulse rate and said it was dropping. We provided him with first aid, but he showed no improvement," Tirupathi told TNIE. He was rushed to the hospital nearby, however, the doctors declared him brought dead. Recalling that the driver had expressed mild irritation in his chest after breakfast, the conductor said, however, Murugesaraja expressed no uneasiness during the afternoon and had chatted with him as usual during the journey. The passengers were assigned to two other buses, and the driver's body was sent to a government hospital for postmortem. Murugesaraja had joined the job over a decade ago, and is survived by his wife and two children.

They then went to Tantrayankuppam beach, a part of Tamil Nadu next to Puducherry, and took a bath. Sivanathan's son Manvith (12) suddenly developed shortness of breath and fainted. Shocked by this, the family rescued him and rushed him to Puducherry government hospital for treatment. The doctors who examined him there said that Manvithin was already dead.

Mysore/Mysuru - A cab driver, who had brought tourists to Chamundi Hill, has died of massive heart attack at Chamundi Hill parking lot yesterday afternoon. The deceased cab driver has been identified as Tejas Kumar (27) of Bengaluru. Tejas, who had brought two tourists in his cab (KA-02-AD-8299), took them to Srikanteshwara Temple in Nanjangud and later brought them to Chamundi Hill. After getting the passengers alight near Chamundeshwari Temple, Tejas took the cab and parked it at the multi-level parking lot atop the Hill. Meanwhile, the tourists, after having the darshan of the Goddess, called Tejas on his mobile phone. But some other person received the call and told them that Tejas had suffered a massive attack and had passed away. Krishnaraja (KR) Police, who rushed to the spot, found the body of Tejas next to his car. It is suspected that Tejas, after parking his car, was sitting next to it when he suffered a massive heart attack and died. KR Police, who have registered a case, have shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary.

He was immediately rescued by the occupants of the house and rushed to Arakkonam government hospital. Doctors who examined him there said Satish Kumar was already dead.

Durairaj (75), a retired railway employee, hails from Periya Kalakattur village near Thiruvalangadu in Tiruvallur district. He had gone to Perambur railway hospital in Chennai and got down at Thiruvalangadu railway station at around 11.30 pm to return home. He later suffered a heart attack while sitting on the platform to rest for a while and died tragically. A team led by Arakkonam Railway Police Sub-Inspector Anandan rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to the Arakkonam Government Hospital for post-mortem.

A 47-year-old Singaporean man passed away in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, after suffering a heart attack while participating in a mountain bike event on the morning of Jun. 3. Zulkifli Bin Rosli, who lived in Woodlands, was found lying on the streets near a water factory in the southern town of Tampin at around 9:25 am on Saturday, the district police chief, Anuwal Ab Wahab, told Shin Min Daily News in a statement. Zulkifli was rushed to a hospital in Tampin, where he subsequently passed away. Autopsy results later revealed that he suffered a heart attack, and the case was classified as a sudden death.

Kemaman District Police Chief Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said Nur Azirah Mohd Rahim, 37, from Kampung Paya Berenjut, who died at the scene about 6.07 pm. A preliminary police examination found no criminal elements were detected on the body. The victim's brother, Mohd Zaidi Mohd Rahim, said at the time of the incident, the victim was standing up as he watched the child practice the crossing and suddenly she fell and was unconscious. A man has died at a popular motel in Queensland. The man, aged in his 20s, was reported to be in distress at the Maryborough motel about 9.30 am on Saturday morning. The young man was in a critical condition when paramedics arrived at the Carrier Arms Hotel-Motel. He died at the scene. A crime scene was then declared at the Alice St accommodation. Police will prepare a report for the Coroner. The death is not believed to be suspicious, a spokesperson for Queensland Police said.
