Marine vet, beloved Warrington K-9 Officer Stephen Plum Jr. dies at 38 after life of service
May 19, 2022
Bucks Co., PA - Warrington K-9 Officer Stephen Plum Jr. was a rarity among the emergency services community for not only being a police officer, but also an EMT and a firefighter in his time as a first responder. Service was in his blood as the 8-year veteran of the department also served in the U.S. Marines, deploying to Iraq.
On Monday, the 38-year-old, highly decorated officer and father of five died in a sudden medical event, shocking and leaving the community he's served for all these years grieving.
"It's really tough on my department," said Chief Daniel Friel. “He was a really good guy," he added.
Plum had been a K-9 officer since 2018, and was partnered with K-9 Murphy, a Dutch shepherd used for narcotics investigations. Plum, who frequently let his K-9 partner take the spotlight, was often and lovingly referred to as "Murphy's human."
Before working in Warrington, Plum was a police officer for SEPTA and Rockledge Borough in Montgomery County. He also was a volunteer firefighter with Abington Fire Co., where his father, retired Hatboro Officer Stephen Plum Sr., is the president.
Plum is survived by his wife Nancy, and their five children, Andrew, Aiden, Wyatt, Emmett and Francesca. Warrington police said he enjoyed riding ATVs, hunting, camping, and being with his family.

Special to The Seattle Times

Aylward died unexpectedly at his Capitol Hill home on May 16, of natural but as-yet undetermined causes. He was 75, and according to Mary Fields, his artist wife of 36 years, he had been feeling unwell for a while.

Young Boy Died With Evidence of Heart Inflammation After COVID-19 Vaccination: CDC
May 20, 2022
A young boy died after getting Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine and evidence was found of the boy suffering from heart inflammation, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) researchers revealed on May 19.
The male child experienced fever 12 days after getting the dose, which was his first. A day later, he experienced abdominal pain and vomiting. He died that day.
“This patient had a rapid clinical course. From the time they started experiencing their abdominal pain day 13 after dose one until the time they were brought into the [emergency department] and subsequently died was on the order of a couple of hours,” Dr. Tom Shimabukuro, a CDC vaccine analyst, said during a virtual meeting.
“Histopathological evidence of myocarditis was present on autopsy, and that was resolved to be the cause of death,” he added.
Two teenage boys were previously determined to have died shortly after getting the Pfizer vaccine.
The date and location of the newly reported death was not clear, besides happening between the fall of 2021 and April 24, 2022. The boy who died was between 5 and 11 years old.

Bernard Wright, musician and oft-sampled artist, dies at 58

Martin Kauble, 59
May 22, 2022
Longview, WA, native Martin Eugene Kauble, a piano teacher who tutored hundreds of local students over four decades and who loved muscle cars and fine wines, died suddenly at his home on the afternoon of May 11, 2022. He was 59.
Martin began teaching piano locally in 1984. Many of his students became successful teachers and performers themselves, and several of his students became young artists for the Southwest Washington Symphony. His death is a huge loss to the local music community. Few things got him as riled up as the time young people spend on video games, sports activities and social media factors he felt have weakened interest in piano lessons.
As much as he revered classical music - he owned what certainly is among the largest private collections of music scores in the region - he was no long-hair. He loved most forms of music, excepting rap and modem atonalism.
Above all things, Martin loved and craved friendship. He could be touchy and easily take offense, but he loved big. He had friends throughout the community from all age groups and social strata, and he enjoyed sharing camaraderie and his collection of fine wines.

Power hitter Bryan Caruso, a Tilton native, died suddenly at age 42
May 21, 2022
Bryan Caruso was a bear of a man who once smashed home runs to far-away places during his high school and college careers.
When it came to hitting, Eric Duquette, Caruso’s former business partner and coach at the Concord Sports Center, called his dear friend “a beast.”
When it came to mentoring, Jayden Day, whom Caruso coached through his youth baseball days, said this coach, more than any other, made him the high school player he is today, at Concord Christian.
Both remain in mourning after the shocking death of Caruso on May 16. He was 42, married, with a 4-year-old son. His father, Fred Caruso, unsure of the exact cause of death on Friday, said Bryan died after suffering internal bleeding, which he traced to a similar episode six years ago.
