Betting. Sergey Karshkov, the Russian founder of 42xBet, dies suddenly

Russian media are reporting the death of Sergey Karshkov, the founder of betting operator 1xBet and the advertising agency that owns the 9Pandas Dota 2 team. According to his friend Pavel Muntyan, the 42-year-old passed away due to a sudden and unexpected reaction allergy during an MRI procedure in Switzerland. “I can't believe it… I have a lump in my throat. It can not be!" wrote Muntyan, a producer at Russian animation studio Toonbox in a social media post. “Sergey was one of the most athletic and healthy people I knew! Healthy as a bull!” Karshkov was born in Ukraine and worked for the Russian police as a cybersecurity expert in Bryansk. In 2020, the Investigative Committee of Russia placed him on the international wanted list for creating a criminal and gambling organization. According to the official statement, Karshkov created 1xBet together with two friends and the group earned over 63 billion rubles (~$745 million at the current exchange rate) from 2014 to 2019. The group then settled in Cyprus, where they have presumably remained as of 2020.

Albawaba - Chef Ramzi Choueiri dies of a heart attack at 52. A famous Lebanese chef, known as Chef Ramzi, died on Sunday evening. The famous cook suffered a severe heart attack. Ramzi was known for his cooking show that aired on Future TV in the '90s, and the chef intentionally became a kitchen icon and inspired many after him. In 1998, he released his first cookbook and sold more than 650,000 copies. The news of the chef's death was announced on his official Instagram page, where a post was shared of the late cook, and the caption read: "We are sorry to inform you that Chef Ramzi Choueiri passed away today, Sunday 18th June 2023, in Beirut, Lebanon. We thank you all for keeping him in your prayers and thoughts."
