In memory of those who “died suddenly,” in Canada, November 28-December 5
Manitoba pastor Leon Fontaine (who defied lockdown orders by hosting services at his church); Lily Isobel Smyth-Andrews, a 16-year-old who died playing volleyball; and 430 (!) others across Canada
CANADA
A note from our lead Canada researcher:
As high as it is—higher even than the toll in Italy, although Canada has a much smaller population—the weekly toll that we have been recording in these compilations is much lower than it ought to be, due to the terseness of obituaries from some large populations.
Specifically, we have had trouble finding data on the “sudden deaths” of Asians, East Indians and Jews throughout the country (three large minorities), and of the Filipinos in Alberta. The death notices from those communities are less detailed than those from the general population.
There is a similar void of information in the Territories—especially about the large indigenous community, whom Trudeau’s police have sought to “vaccinate” by force. It is extremely difficult to find death notices of any kind for that community, whose rate of “sudden deaths” may well be hidden.
What all this means, in short, is that the true rate of “sudden deaths” in Canada is probably much higher than the quite high rate that we’ve recorded here.

Springs Church pastor Fontaine, 59, passes away
November 21, 2022
Springs Church, Manitoba, pastor Leon Fontaine who was instrumental in growing the St. Boniface church’s congregation into one of the largest in the country, passed away Saturday according to his family. He was 59 years old, days away from his birthday on Friday. Fontaine made a name for himself with his charismatic sermons and for hosting services during the COVID-19 pandemic which broke public health orders.
“On Nov. 19 at 5 p.m., our dad passed away and went to be with Jesus,” said Eden Shimoda, in a recorded video of her and her four siblings that was shown at the end of respective services held at the church Sunday. “I know you’re probably shocked and we’re really shocked too,” said Danielle Fontaine Craig, telling the congregation that her father had been absent from the church stage for over a month and that he and his wife and fellow senior pastor Sally had decided to take “a vacation and some R and R” and that he had got himself checked out and realized that something was wrong. The last couple of days all of a sudden it just took a really sharp turn that we really didn’t expect.” His family did not disclose details about his illness or cause of death. Winnipeg Sun reached out to Springs Church on Monday but hasn’t heard back. Church officials requested privacy and declined to comment Sunday.
Last June, Springs Church was charged with two counts of failing to abide by public health orders from a graduation ceremony held in May. Springs Church received more than $32,000 in fines related to breaches of the orders during the pandemic. In 2020, Springs Church took the Manitoba government to court after holding drive-in services that were not allowed under the province’s public health orders at the time. Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench Chief Justice Glenn Joyal ruled against the church that December.

She passed much too soon October 1, 2022. One minute Lily was full speed playing volleyball at Brentwood College and the next she collapsed due to an unexplained seizure never to regain consciousness. Lily made friends everywhere she went. In Memory of Slade in support of Cinder & Jeff
November 30, 2022
Alberta - Slade was 7 years old. This is Slade’s Story from what we know (we apologize for any discrepancies, but as you know the family is in shock): Slade had pink eye a few weeks ago but had completely recovered. He started to feel sick on Thursday, which was something new. He had gone to see the doctor on Monday. They couldn’t see any obvious signs of anything other than to recommend Tylenol, Advil, rest, and to book him in for another appointment for Wednesday. Slade went home, and on Tuesday morning he was complaining about problems squeezing his hands, numbness and discomfort. Cinder and Jeff noticed his breathing was shallow as they were laying down in bed with him to comfort him. Within a few minutes he stopped breathing and Jeff, as a seasoned and trained Calgary Firefighter, performed CPR. 911 was called and arrived quickly and did all they could do. Slade was taken to the South Health Campus hospital where all first responders continued to perform life saving measures. Slade did not regain consciousness and passed away the morning of November 29th with his family at his side.
No cause of death reported.
From his father’s Gofundme:
Slade passed away suddenly after just a four-day illness and his sweet little heart just couldn't take it. We miss him so much and we just ache with the pain of losing our child.”
Pink eye most often is a benign viral infection that gets better even without medication:
Viral pink eye, the most common type, usually gets better in 1 to 2 weeks without medicine. Sometimes, it can take 3 weeks or more to heal. Remember, antibiotics don’t help viral pink eye. Bacterial pink eye usually gets better in 2 to 5 days, but it can take 2 weeks or more to go away completely. Antibiotics can speed up the healing time, but they aren’t always needed. If you have bacterial pink eye, ask your doctor if they recommend antibiotics for you.

Doug Smith, 61
November 29, 2022
Robert Douglas “Doug” Smith, age 61 of Stratford, passed away suddenly at Stratford General Hospital on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Doug has profoundly touched so many lives that he will be greatly missed by many. He was extremely proud of and dedicated to his boys and his wife and it was returned to him tenfold. He and wife met at Carleton University and married only a year later. Their first adventure was teaching in Chibougamau, Quebec. After 4 years, they decided to move back to Ontario and chose Stratford as the place to live and raise a family. Doug taught physics and science and coached badminton for the next 31 years at St Michael CDSS. It became a huge part of our lives as family was of the utmost importance to Doug and the St Mike’s community was our family. They fed his passion for teaching. People often asked why he would stay so late after school. It was because of the kids, not the prep – if they needed help with their lessons but also to talk about what was important to them and to listen. The kids and staff were more important to him than what his curriculum could teach. That never changed; former students in their late 40s still came up to him to say “Hi Mr. Smith. I’m …..” He always knew them, (even if he couldn’t remember their name!) Doug retired in 2020 but kept up his passion by supply teaching at St Mike’s. Even though it wasn’t a daily event, it made him so happy to be with the St Mike’s community. Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Kenneth Raymond Stroud, 74
November 14, 2022
Kelowna - Kenneth Raymond Stroud passed the evening of October 31, 2022, (aged 74). He is at rest after battling pancreatic cancer and kidney disease. Ken beat the odds countless times, and it seems surreal that he is gone now. He was a heavy-duty crane operator and a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 955. After retiring, Ken headed back home to Renfrew, Ontario. There he was embraced by his loving family. Ken took pleasure in the great outdoors. On a motorcycle, trike, quad, onto a scooter or on the front porch he loved the fresh air. He loved the beauty of trees and watching birds. Ken listened joyfully to classic country and spent many hours watching old westerns. Ken sported a cowboy hat and boots in his prime years. He loved his vehicles and driving around Canada.

Karl R. Kaesmodel, 61
November 28, 2022
Our much loved Karl Richard Kaesmodel, a resident of Kelowna, BC, passed away at home on November 26, 2022. Karl was 61. In Edmonton at the police college, Karl found his passion for running and fitness, he did numerous marathons and successfully completed the Penticton Ironman in 1981. Karl loved being a policeman and had many different roles within the service: he worked in traffic (he loved writing tickets on his Harley); resource officer in the schools (helped coach cross-country running); and in Parks on his bicycle and cruising the N. Saskatchewan River in the police boat, to name a few. In Edmonton, he met lifelong friends whom he treasured. Karl retired after 26 years from the Edmonton Police Service in 2006 and moved his family to Kelowna and started a second career with the City of Kelowna in 2007. Here again, he met many wonderful new friends. Anyone who knew Karl would know he loved to be active, whether it was skiing down “Paradise”, cycling around the lake, or enjoying a round of golf then finishing up with an awesome IPA! Karl embraced the Kelowna lifestyle and enjoyed many sports: tennis, waterskiing, hockey, skiing, and football. Donations can be made to BC Cancer, KGH Foundation.

Pat and his wife drove down to Kentucky in October with the intention of spending the winter there, unfortunately Pat’s time was cut short but we are taking comfort in the fact that he was where he wanted to be (and he got to take his wife to Dollywood and the Blue Ridge Mountains).

He spent his free time enjoying the outdoors, whether it be fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking or skiing, as well as riding his motorbike. He was always ready for the next adventure.

Courtenay - It is with great sadness that the family of Wessel Janssen announce his passing. He passed away peacefully following a difficult battle with cancer on November 19th, 2022, surrounded by his family. Wessel was born in Rotterdam Holland He spent his young years running through the streets of Holland, living in a houseboat on the canals, and travelling extensively. Wessel travelled through Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and India. He saw many sights, cultures, and open-air concerts, living as the only child in a bus full of travelling hippies. Eventually Wessel, his mother and little sister found Wessels dad, and they settled in Cumberland. Wessel had plenty of hobbies, some of which include computers, woodworking, working to improve the “old Cumberland home” he loved, and volunteering to help the community (he especially enjoyed the time he spent with the guys from the Black Creek Lions). Although Wessel struggled with mental health issues (as many people do), he was ALWAYS there for the people he loved and anyone who needed a hand. In Wessel’s own words “he led a good life and could not ask for much more. He travelled, saw things some people will never see, and ended up living in what he considered the “most beautiful place in the world”, he met his great love (who came with an amazing family that accepted him as one of their own), had 2 magnificent kids, and grandkids, and what more could he ask for – well, except more time.

Mark Malashewski, 70
November 17, 2022
Winnipeg - With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Mark Malashewski at home in his sleep on October 30, 2022. It was often said that when Mark missed a day of work they needed three men to complete the same amount of work he did in a day. Mark enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles in his younger years, even after he had a terrible accident riding with his girlfriend. When she jumped off the bike, he stayed on to save it when hitting a barricade. She ended up with a few scratches on her knees, while he almost died. Mark adored cats and was a proud and loving owner of many throughout his life including his current two cats, Baby and Tiny Bits.

He made many great memories at Clearwater Lake, fishing, camping, ski-dooing, quadding, visiting and helping friends and family. He was happy to have caught his first master Lake Trout at the lake this past winter with his grandson. Wayne had a large garden and took great pride in providing his family with fresh garden vegetables and his famous beet pickles. Wayne was the family BBQ’er, enjoying the quiet and the conversations with whoever joined him. Heinrich Thiessen Friesen, 68
November 18, 2022
Winnipeg - Henry was diagnosed with prostate cancer in early 2018. This was hard for him to accept, but he was so grateful when an effective treatment was found shortly thereafter. In July of 2021, Henry began to experience new back pain and by April 2022, he began seeking medical help. The pain became excruciating by July; after numerous ER visits with no success, Henry flew to Merida, Mexico to seek for help on Aug. 25, not realizing he would never come home again. After a back surgery in Mexico, infection took hold, and he came back to Winnipeg where he was admitted to Health Science Centre and received two more surgeries. Along with the severe infection, and evidence of new cancer; all treatments were ineffective. He was then transferred to Arborg Hospital and placed in palliative care on November 3. Henry passed away on November 16, 2022 at 6:17 a.m. at the age of 68. Henry loved going fishing, camping trips and BBQing steaks with family and friends. Henry was a very sociable person. And will be remembered by his jokes and contagious laugh which made him a priceless contributor at the coffee table. Everyone Henry met he considered a friend. Children and youth in general and his grandchildren in particular, were his favourite.

Judi Stiles
November 20, 2022
Saint John - The death of Judith A Stiles occurred at her residence on November 18, 2022. Graduate of Saint John High School, she went on to further her education at the University of Kings College, Dalhousie University and attained her Masters in Policy Planning and Administration from the prestigious London School of Economics. An offer from St. Joseph’s Hospital to establish a Discharge Planning and Social Work Department, drew her back to Saint John from a teaching position at St. Mary’s University in Nova Scotia. A fortuitous offer it was, as it was at St. Joe’s she met the love of her life, Dr. Judi finished her career managing the Child Protection, Adult Protection, Adoption and Child Care and Young Offenders Programs at the behest of the Government of New Brunswick. The colleagues and friends she made in the 27 years she spent with them remain in her heart and thoughts. A lover of horses and riding, the stables and barns of Northrup Quarter Horses became her happy place in retirement. “Murphy” her beloved quarter horse, if he could talk, could attest to Judi’s passion for riding. Murphy remains tight lipped about how many times he threw Judi, but admits she quickly remounted. This same determination was evident in her battle with cancer. With dignity and grace, she fought till the end.

Nicholas Ralph “Nick” Deis of Medicine Hat, AB, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 24th, 2022 at the age of 45 years. He lived his life in Medicine Hat to the fullest and it took a heart attack to take down our Nick. He loved life and always had a smile on his face. It brought him great joy to make everyone around him happy. Nick loved fast cars, driving fast cars and he loved his friends and buddies like they were his world. Everyone was always on the look out because Nick loved playing pranks on everyone...with no exceptions. Nick’s newest buddy was a black four footed furball named Tiger. He said she was the smartest cat in the world and loved her dearly. The highlight of Nick’s life, aside from the many friends he made along the way, was when he was in Scotland training to be a directional drilling coach. While in Scotland he was fortunate to play a round of golf at St. Andrew's course. Memorial gifts in Nick Deis's memory may be made to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Terry Lee Bauer passed away near Grande Cache, Alberta on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the age of 63 years. The farm was where he learned the skills that would support him all his life. Dad was very academic and excelled specifically in mathematics. He was a human calculator and could figure out almost any math problem fast in his head. We are a little disappointed that he did not pass any of this to us. We relied on him so much that we forgot to learn it ourselves. Dad worked as a construction consultant and went on to build and own Bauer Cats. Pushing dirt is a talent and he excelled at it; however maintaining good working equipment was never his specialty! Dad’s trucks were always put to the test. Legend says Dodge hired him to test their new trucks but he was fired the next day! Peter Loewen Dyck, in the presence of his lovely wife and their four beautiful children. Alex, passed away at his home in Turin at 5:18 P.M. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the age of 38 years. Peter loved spending time with his family and if anyone were to ask Peter what his favorite thing to do was, he would definitely say, "taking my family fishing!" He also recently loved to go hunting. Peter was a hardworking man and loved his job driving trucks. But this work was not meant to be his lifelong work for Peter, as the cancer took it’s toll. Peter was admitted to the hospital February 6, 2021, with what seemed like heart attack symptoms. They thought it was from the exhaustion of his night time work. The very next day he was diagnosed with Gist Cancer; a rare and uncurable stage four cancer. He was only expected to live for a few more weeks. Peter had surgery to remove a large tumor. In the coming months, Peter fought hard and it almost seemed like the cancer had left by June, but the cancer came back with a vengeance, nothing seemed to be able to stop it. The cancer had spread in his stomach, spleen, pancreas and liver. In his battle with this aggressive cancer and in all his adversity, Peter's passion became to point others to Christ.

Halifax - Bruce enjoyed playing his guitar, music, music history, and movies. He was very competitive in sports including basketball (PDHS Panthers), golf, softball, ice hockey, and played ball hockey in leagues. He was the guy you always wanted on your team and was admired for his sportsmanship. He knew his sports history and would muse and debate about what was happening in any game, the current season, or the latest golf tournament. Bruce loved writing game summaries for his ball hockey league and posted them on his league’s chat site, The Locker Room Forum (ballstarhockey.ca) for his teammates to read. Bruce enjoyed playing cards and was an avid player of 45s, poker, and most of all, cribbage. Bruce was a thoughtful, kind and loving son and brother who was cherished by his family and friends. Philip Clarence Huston, 72
November 28, 2022
Tatamagouche - Phil peacefully slipped away on the Carefree Highway surrounded by many who loved him dearly. Dad was eternally optimistic and felt most alive and at peace in the woods or near the water. He loved to write poems and often his topic of choice would be trees, birds, water, and nature in general. He loved his family, animals, fishing, hiking, reading, watching CNN and Sports desk, Gordon Lightfoot, and he was a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He became an entrepreneur running Huston’s Butcher Shop on Main Street Tatamagouche for many years. There were times when his customers would be lined up out the door to get a good cut of meat from Phil for the bbq. Before he retired visiting dad often meant visiting at “the shop” as it was his second home. We were always greeted with a big “Hi Darlin” and a smile. His butcher block still resides in Tatamagouche’s brew shop with a beer aptly named after it. He was well known and loved by many people. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

November 24, 2022
Passed away at his home (his castle) in Aylesford on November 21st, 2022. Ronnie was a fierce defender of the underdog and was known to step up in the name of fairness his whole life. Nothing made Ronnie happier than being surrounded by his family on his back deck for a BBQ and chats about world events that always went late into the night. He will forever be known as the guy who accepted everyone no matter where they came from or what their story was. Lots of cancer deaths or donate to cancer foundations. Also several baby deaths. Just lots and lots of sudden deaths in Canada. O my.
Incredible excess mortality in Canada.
One of the sadder facts about these shots is that we may never know who died before their time due to taking them. Fast forward to a future generation or so and (once the current medical monopoly model has been well and truly destroyed) we might be able to help citizens reach a ripe old age. I reckon it will take 20 years to ride this horror show out...I hope I'm wrong about the timing on that though. I would much rather not see so much death via the government-mandated corporate death-vaxx.
Astounding documentation by the Canadian team. It is a sad time for Canada, no doubt.
