Ivana Trump, ex-wife of former President Trump, dies at age 73
July 14, 2022
Ivana Trump, the ex-wife of former President Donald Trump, has died at age 73, the family told ABC News.
The former president said she died at her home in New York City.
Ivana Trump was Donald Trump's first wife. They had three children together: Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric Trump.
"Our mother was an incredible woman -- a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend," the Trump family said in a statement.
"Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country. She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination," the family said. "She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren."
As Eric Trump walked out of his mother's apartment building Thursday afternoon, he told reporters, "It's been a very sad day."
Manhattan paramedics, responding to a call for cardiac arrest, found a 73-year-old woman in the Upper East Side apartment where Ivana Trump lived just after 12:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the FDNY. She was pronounced dead at the scene, the NYPD said.
Ivana Trump was found unconscious and unresponsive at the bottom of a set of stairs in her apartment, according to police sources. The police are investigating whether she fell and, if so, whether the fall contributed in any way to her death, the sources said. A medical examiner will determine her cause of death, police said.

Many mysterious drownings:
Uptick in tourist snorkeling drownings in Hawaii revealed to have unexpected cause
July 12, 2022
Drowning is far and away the leading cause of death for tourists in Hawaii.
The state's Department of Health data shows that between 2009 and 2018, over 45% of tourist deaths on the islands came from drowning. (The second most frequent cause of death was motor vehicle accidents, at around 10%.) The data shows that of 206 snorkeling-related deaths over that decade, 189 were non-residents.
Many of those deaths occur while snorkeling, with the number of fatalities increasing sharply over recent years. At Maui's idyllic Puu Kekaa, pressure has recently been put on authorities to increase the presence of life guards after the beach was described to SFGATE by authorities as “the No. 1 drowning capital in Hawaii.”
Last month, a California man was found dead in the water while snorkeling near Maui's Kaanapali Beach.
But a mystery around the specific cause of death in these snorkeling fatalities — wherein the victim is often found to have not struggled or shown any distress signals before succumbing to the water — has now been revealed.

A county jail inmate “died suddenly”:
St. Louis County jail inmate dies unexpectedly Saturday
July 17, 2022
St. Louis County, Mo. — A St. Louis County Jail inmate died Saturday after being found on the floor of his cell during a medical check. According to St. Louis County spokesman Doug Moore, 59-year-old Donald Matthews was booked into the jail shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday on charges of first-degree stalking and a protection order violation. At 8:30 Saturday morning, Matthews ate breakfast in his cell and told jail officials he was fine during a routine check.
Ten minutes after the check, Moore said, jail staff came by Matthews' cell as part of a check on some inmates because Matthews had refused a drug screening when he was booked Thursday night. Upon arrival at Matthews' cell, staff found Matthews on the floor of his cell. Moore said Matthews spoke to jail officers and was helped back into bed, going in and out of consciousness. Moore said at 8:45 a.m., an emergency call for medical assistance was made to all jail radios, and at 8:47 a.m. 911 was called.
EMS arrived at the jail at 8:53 a.m., and at 9:20 a.m. the ambulance departed the jail with Matthews, heading for a local hospital, Moore said. Moore said the ambulance arrived at the hospital six minutes later and Matthews was pronounced dead at 9:44 a.m. Matthews' exact cause of death has not been released.

Dominic Green signed out of work as he always did, exactly at 4:30 p.m.
“Good afternoon everyone, my shift has ended,” the 28-year-old emailed from his desk in the living room of his Los Angeles apartment on a winter Wednesday afternoon.
A remote contract worker, Dominic had never met any of his colleagues. A supervisor would later tell his father that she couldn’t pick him out in a photo. “We really don’t know people by anything except the work that they do,” he remembered her saying.
As the COVID-19 pandemic entered its third year, Dominic and his peers expected as much out of life. In 2020, Dominic’s classes went remote. His June 2021 graduation ceremony was held as a drive-through. And all of his job interviews were conducted by video.
Dominic, who was single and lived alone, had started his position as an epidemiologist in September, joining the 41% of white-collar workers who were fully remote, spending their days at home in jobs that were more disconnected and isolating than ever.
At the beginning and end of each shift, Dominic sent his bosses a mandatory email clocking in and out.
But the next day, a Thursday, Dominic didn’t send his 8 a.m. email. He missed the 4:30 p.m. sign-out too. Friday also came and went with no sign of Dominic.
Dominic’s parents, Joseph and Jeannine Green, who lived in Michigan, didn’t hear from him over the weekend, but that was not unexpected; they were used to waiting for texts from their busy son. But by Monday, which was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, they grew worried.
Joseph checked their family cellular plan and saw Dominic’s phone had been dark for five days. Jeannine checked their joint bank account and saw it too showed no activity.
By the time Dominic’s body was discovered in his apartment Monday night, he was unrecognizable and had to be identified by the few fingerprints still visible on his hands.

Jesse “Michael” Betschart, 55
July 16, 2022
McMinnville, Tenn. - Mountain Creek was a little quieter on Friday. Jesse “Michael” Betschart, 55, a Warren County resident and Yakima, WA native was born to Jesse and Dema Sue on Aug. 13, 1966, and passed suddenly on July 15 following a cardiac event. He was an artist of many mediums: stone, wood, music, and laughter. Michael was a giant, from his height to his personality and on to his creative spark. An artist through and through, it would be rare to have seen him without one of his many creations nearby. If he wasn’t busy scratching away at one of his carvings or droning a rhythm on his didgeridoo, he would surely have a story to make you smile. A professor in the school of “Monkey see, not monkey do,” he truly lived life his own way, making many friends along life’s road.

Bobby Anspach, 34
July 17, 2022
Perrysburg, OH - On Tuesday, July 5, around 9:15 pm, Bobby Anspach, age 34, left the world suddenly. Bobby was born in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Maumee Valley and St. John's Jesuit, before matriculating to Boston College for his B.A. and to CCA and RISD for his MFA in sculpture. He often liked to crouch on his heels, whether while talking with friends and family, smoking a cigarette, or eating cereal with the bowl perched on his knees....
Around his mid-twenties, Bobby began to commit himself to art. He went to CCA, then to RISD, where he got his MFA in sculpture. It was also there that he produced "Place for Continuous Eye Contact," the first in a series of installations that he continued to work on (in New York City and Beacon, New York) till the end of his life. The works were intended to help bring about world peace by offering the viewer an experience similar to what Bobby had discovered on meditation retreats. His installations are composed of LED lights, glass lenses, colorful pom-poms, mirrors, music, and other materials; the works soften the boundaries between self and other. It's hard to overstate how beautiful and unique these works of art are....
