Jimmy Buffett no longer headlining Summerfest, organizers say
June 28, 2023
Bad news, Parrotheads: There'll be no Margaritaville at Summerfest after all. Jimmy Buffett, who shared news that he was hospitalized before a planned show last month, will no longer be headlining the Milwaukee, Wisconsin, festival. Buffett was originally scheduled to perform at Summerfest's American Family Insurance Amphitheater on July 6. Instead, fans will "Sober Up" with new headliners AJR. Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will not be performing at Summerfest's American Family Insurance Amphitheater July 6. In May, Buffett, 76, had announced a show in Charleston, South Carolina, with just a couple weeks' notice. But that show was postponed indefinitely after Buffett was hospitalized in Boston following a trip to the Bahamas. A new date for the singer's Charleston show has yet to be scheduled. While Summerfest officials made a save-the-date announcement for the planned Buffett amphitheater show — including promotion in its brochures and on its website — tickets for the Wisconsin show had yet to go on sale. In a statement on Facebook Tuesday, Summerfest officials said Buffett’s planned appearance was canceled "due to circumstances out of our control." Buffett himself has not commented on the scrapped Summerfest show through his social media channels. Earlier this month, he shared pictures and footage of a surprise bar performance, though the "Margaritaville" singer has still not announced any major concerts. Buffett's cancellation is a major blow to Summerfest and will inevitably hurt attendance. It's also the latest case of the festival suffering a last-minute amphitheater cancellation. Shows with Megadeth in 2019 and Justin Bieber in 2022 were canceled at the last minute due to health reasons, forcing the amphitheater to go dark those nights for the first time in the festival's history.
Pop Star Bebe Rexha, 33, Is Learning To ‘Accept’ And ‘Not To Judge’ Herself As She Battles Hormone Disorder and Weight Gain
June 29, 2023
Since singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha was diagnosed with a hormone disorder known as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), she’s been struggling with her body image. But now, the 33-year-old pop star is striving to accept herself and the body changes she’s experiencing — which is inspirational to all who might be dealing with the internal struggle of body image.
The Brooklyn-born musician, who previously admitted she’s “always struggled” with her weight, has been battling PCOS, a condition which is described by the U.S Department of Health & Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health as “a common health problem caused by an imbalance of reproductive hormones.”
Refusing to let PCOS bring her down, Rexha took to Instagram this week to share a video clip of herself flaunting her curves with her song “I’m Not High, I’m In Love,” playing in the background. She captioned the post, “I know I’ve gained weight. Humans go through fluctuations. Not gonna lie it does suck and bother me when I read some comments but it comes with the territory. I’ve been learning not to judge myself and accept myself while also trying to make healthier decisions in my life,” Rexha continued. “What I have learned though is numbers don’t define you, your heart does.”

Sweet's left eye reportedly starting to have issues that might need a vitrectomy to remove fluid/floaters, scarring, and blood from it.

Gena Tew Reveals Positive Update Amid AIDS Battle
June 26, 2023
Social-media influencer Gena Tew has shared details of a major boost in the CD4 count, a type of immune cell attacked by HIV, in her blood. This comes more than one year after she went public with her AIDS diagnosis. Tennessee-based Tew, 28, has been documenting her health journey in a series of social-media posts since publicly revealing her AIDS diagnosis in March 2022. In one TikTok clip, shared in June 2022 and viewed over 14 million times, the model showed herself struggling to get up from her bed. Her weight had plummeted to 65 pounds, she said, and muscle atrophy had weakened her legs. Among the issues the model has dealt with since her diagnosis are an inability to walk unaided and blindness in one of her eyes. Tew's health has bounced back in recent months, she said, with her weight increasing to more than 100 pounds. Additionally, the CD4 cell count in her blood has been boosted through treatment. In a TikTok video shared over the weekend, Tew shared an update on her CD4 count that showed she had crossed a vital threshold. "Those of you who have been following my journey, today is the fricking day, y'all," she said in the video. "I have been waiting for my CD4 to get over 200 for the longest. Y'all, not only is it over 200, it is 308." Explaining the meaning of the CD4 count, she added: "That means that I am no longer being seen as [having] AIDS. I am being seen as [having] HIV. HIV! Yeah! Does that mean I reversed it? Yeah, a little bit, it does. And you know how? I take my medicine every day. I got to the point to where I'm undetectable, untransmittable, and I can live my life just like everybody else. I mean, of course, I'm in a chair and I'm half-blind. But still, we're working on that... Y'all, I'm so happy."
Amouranth Reveals She Has Late Stage Ovarian Failure
June 27, 2023
Popular Twitch streamer Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa shared some somber news on social media, as she revealed that she has late-stage ovarian failure, which will hinder her ability to fulfill prior commitments in the near future. Though she is the most popular female streamer on Twitch, Amouranth said she is not fond of sharing personal details. Given the circumstances of her diagnosis and the cancelations, she stated that an explanation was owed to her followers. On June 26, Amouranth posted a Twitter thread about her diagnosis and some appearances she has canceled as a result of it. Amouranth stated that she was initially diagnosed in March and that her body has been in menopause for some time as a result of the disease. Per doctor’s orders, Amouranth was forced to withdraw from her upcoming boxing debut that was set to take place in Madrid, Spain on July 1. Amouranth stated that the physical intensity of a boxing match coupled with her recent treatment would result in extreme physical injuries, such as ovarian torsions and twists, or her death were she to push forward with it. Amouranth said she hoped to delay some of the first injections as part of her treatment, but some recent medical developments forced her hand, and she had to take her first injections just days before she was set to box Mayichi, a Spanish streamer. While she lamented her withdrawal from the boxing match, Amouranth remained hopeful that her ongoing treatments will be quick and that she could make her boxing debut in 2024. On social media, the response to Amouranth’s diagnosis has been overwhelmingly supportive, with many messages wishing the Twitch streamer the best. Some of Amouranth’s fans were disappointed to learn that she would not be making the trip to Spain but appreciated the transparency and explanation behind her withdrawal.

According to a crowdfunding campaign set up to help Aikau with his medical bills, he collapsed after dinner while in Vegas for a convention. When he was taken to the hospital, it was discovered that he had an aneurysm in his aortic valve. He was rushed into emergency open heart surgery. Clyde Aikau’s contributions to the surfing community are many. He’s one of the organizers of the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational, an event he won in 1986. In 2016, he competed in it again at the age of 66 and proved that he still had what it took. His career started when he was a teen. He was Hawaii’s Juniors Division Champion, and continued competing for 51 years. He, like Eddie, was a Waimea lifeguard for a decade, performing countless successful rescues. In 1973, Clyde won the Duke Kahanamoku Classic.
I remember when John Ritter suddenly died and it was all over the news. Just crickets by mainstream media about all these sudden illnesses and deaths. So sad.
