CANADA
A note from our lead Canada researcher:
As high as it is—higher even than the toll in Italy, although Canada has a much smaller population—the weekly toll that we have been recording in these compilations is much lower than it ought to be, due to the terseness of obituaries from some of Canada’s highly multicultural populations. The death notices from those communities are less detailed than those from the general population.
There is a similar void of information in our northern regions. It is extremely difficult to find death notices of any kind for those communities, whose rate of “sudden deaths” may well be hidden. What all this means, in short, is that the true rate of “sudden deaths” in Canada is probably much higher–perhaps five times higher–than the quite high rate that we’ve recorded here.
Ontario Appeal Court Overturns Previous Ruling in Favour of Mother Who Doesn’t Want Her Children Vaccinated for COVID-19
February 12, 2023
Ontario’s top court has overturned a decision made by a superior court last year that ruled in favour of a mother who didn’t want her two children to receive the COVID-19 vaccines due to concerns over potential side effects. The mother was contesting a motion brought forward by her ex-husband on Jan. 25, 2022, that asked for a court order that both children—aged 10 and 12 at the time—get injected with the vaccines followed by “all recommended” booster shots. The children had said they did not want to be vaccinated. The ruling by the Court of Appeal on Feb. 3 means that the decision of Superior Court Justice Alex Pazaratz last February is now set aside, and that the father is granted the “sole decision-making authority” with respect to the two children’s vaccination against the virus.

February 9, 2023
Mississauga - Beverley passed away on Feb 7, 2023 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. In the middle of her university years Bev got the opportunity to work for the Telegram joining Frank Drea’s Action Line team. She put university on hold saying you don’t pass up a chance like that. After the Tely closed down suddenly in 1971 Bev returned to Ottawa to work in the news room of the CTV affiliate CJOH. There she enjoyed the excitement and the characters that made it one of the most watched evening news broadcast in Easter Ontario. One of her most exciting experiences was being part of the news team that accompanied PM Pierre Trudeau to Washington to meet then President Nixon in the White House. Bev also worked in production at Bushnell Communications (owners of CJOH) and could entertain everyone with inside stories about such notables as the Galloping Gourmet, The Amazing Kreskin and Willie and Floyd. Bev would devote herself full time to her children until they were all well entrenched in school, and after moving back to Toronto in 1987 she set off on a career in computer equipment sales eventually spear heading a top notch inside sales team that managed multimillion dollar programs with the likes of Ontario Hydro and Ontario Government. In the topsy tervy dotcom days Bev claimed to have worked for five different companies in five years due to buyouts but never moved her desk. Despite her many work achievements her proudest accomplishment was raising three beautiful and talented children. Their achievements warmed her heart, her three granddaughters have brought her abounding joy, to Beverley family was everything. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

That story about the mother's judgment being overturned has got me really heated... What parallel universe are we living in?
If I was that mother in Ontario I’d be risking an Amber Alert right about now.
Like...WTAF?
I can’t read the article without signing in. Assuming there’s some kind of “explanation” for the ruling being overturned? Horrendous.
