Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s speech last week has shown that "our free press" is a state-backed association of programmed assassins

The "liberal media"—and especially the New York Times—has now reached a new low in quasi-fascist propaganda, recalling the heyday of Dr. Goebbels and J. Edgar Hoover

There were 2000 people in the room where Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. spoke last Wednesday, and an unknown number in another room they opened to accommodate the overflow. (That information comes from Gavin de Becker, head of campaign security.) That so many had showed up, from all across the country (and beyond), was a thrill for all of us; yet nowhere near as thrilling as the speech itself—a long impromptu masterpiece of oratory so illuminating, wise, humane, and, in its own way, radical (about which more below), with moments of sharp humor (some at his own expense), that it had nearly everybody there in quite a joyous mood.

This is not to say that I agreed with everything he said, or that others necessarily did either. Indeed, what made the speech so bracing, and refreshing, was, in part, that it was not a simple slab of “red meat” for a livid multitude of ditto-heads, its every point contrived to get the whole room braying in unanimous assent—as every politician does, or tries to do. This speech, in other words, was one the likes of which you’d never hear from Donald Trump, or AOC, Elizabeth Warren, Ted Cruz, Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, Hillary or either Obama, or (of course) “Joe Biden,” or any other of the Big Names in America’s degraded “politics.” A speech at once respectful of its audience, and tolerant of disagreement, Bobby’s thoughtful and inspiring declaration harked back to the best speeches* by his uncle and his father; and it was, in part, this quality (apparent even to those youngsters with no memory of the Sixties) that so heartened nearly everybody in the room.

So why do I keep writing “nearly”? Who, in that packed ballroom at the Boston Park Plaza, was not happy after Bobby’s speech? Facing him, amid the many hundreds seated, was a phalanx—some might say “firing squad”—of over 80 “journalists,” some 25 of them with cameras, still or video. Although I wasn’t near their section of the balcony, and therefore couldn’t see them scowling at the end, or hear them screaming expletives into their cell phones, I am as sure as sure can be that they were not a happy bunch amid the cheers of everybody else around them, since they were there in search of anything that they could pluck from Bobby’s speech for sliming purposes; and they were able to get nothing of the kind.

What they were looking for, of course, was some excerptible attack on COVID “vaccination,” or just on vaccination overall; but they were thwarted by the subtle circumspection with which Bobby treated that explosive subject, among others. Not once in his near-two-hour speech did he say “vaccination” or “vaccine”—a feint that surely nettled all the “journalists” in the room, though only VICE betrayed their disappointment: “Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Announced His Presidential Bid With a Speech Missing Anti-Vaccine Activism,” groused the headline of Anna Merlan’s piece on Bobby’s “lengthy, meandering announcement.” Intent on slamming him despite that reticence (and even though he’s not “anti-vaccine,” however much “our free press” says he is), Merlan used the word “anti-vaccine” 13 times, and “vaccine” another five, at one point imagining that everybody there was just as hungry for that word as she was. He spoke about the “chronic disease epidemic,” thereby “generating a smattering of excited, quickly diminishing applause when his audience realized he was not, in fact, about to talk about vaccines.” (So they would have kept on clapping if he did “talk about vaccines?” Wouldn’t that have made it hard to hear him?)

Crudely biased though she was, like all her peers (she turns the gaslight up by jeering CHD’s “nonsensical class action lawsuit against President Biden and Anthony Fauci for ‘censorship’”), at least Merlan did not put words in Bobby’s mouth, as other “journalists” did. The first one I saw, a few hours after Bobby’s speech, was Beth Germano of WBZ-TV, Boston’s CBS affiliate:

How thoroughly did Beth Germano misinform her viewers? Let us count the ways: “Well, he certainly had a lot to say, addressing the crowd for nearly two hours.” She got that right, but nothing else, beginning her fantasia with what we might call a horse-shit sandwich:

Well, he certainly had a lot to say, addressing the crowd for nearly two hours, ranging from what he believes is government collusion with pharmaceutical companies, the vaccine mandate, even questioning the war in Ukraine.

Thus Germano told her viewers that the candidate had spoken out against “the vaccine mandate,” even though he hadn’t—a lie that she slipped in between two blinding flashes of authoritarian gaslight: (1) that “government collusion with pharmaceutical companies” is a paranoid hallucination in which Crazy Bobby inexplicably “believes”; and (2) that “questioning the war in Ukraine” may be the most deranged of all his lunatic positions, despite the existential risk posed by that fogbound war between two huge atomic powers, and the lucidity with which he warned of it in the last part of his speech (his clear case evidently sailing over Beth Germano’s head).

Having thus “reported” an imaginary riff about “the vaccine mandate,” Germano doubled down by calling Kennedy “an anti-vaccine candidate”—and, moreover, one whose “skepticism may put him more in line with Donald Trump than with President Biden.” While Trump may be a “vaccine skeptic” on whatever planet Beth Germano was reporting from, on this one Trump has been as zealous a proponent of the jabs as his (fake) adversary Dr. Fauci, from his boastful rollout of Operation Warp Speed to his (literally) sickening post-presidential schtick about how safe the “vaccines” are, so that his followers should keep on getting them (for which a lot of them have booed him).

While bearing no relation to what we might call the facts, Germano’s line equating Kennedy with Trump did serve the overriding propaganda purpose of her stander-upper, which was (of course) to slander Bobby as a menace, an extremist from “the fringe,” so as to keep the audience from wanting to hear anything he said. (Thus Germano claimed that that immense packed ballroom held “a crowd of some 500.”) Impressive as it was, since everything she said was false, Germano’s piece was all too typical of “our free press,” which, as most Americans now know, is one gigantic fount of gaslight and Big Lies.

SHANNON BOND, BYLINE: Hey, Ailsa.

CHANG: So, OK. A lot of people, of course, know the Kennedy name, but can you remind us who exactly is Robert F. Kennedy Jr.?

BOND: Sure. He's the nephew of President John F. Kennedy and son of Bobby Kennedy. And Robert Kennedy Jr. is a lawyer, who is originally probably best known as an environmental activist. But as you said, he's not only become a central figure in the anti-vaccination movement, but he's also promoted other conspiracy theories, like the baseless idea that 5G telecom networks are being used to control people's behavior.

CHANG: Wow. OK. How did Kennedy wind up as a leader in the anti-vax movement, though?

BOND: Well, he said he is not opposed to vaccines. He frames his criticisms as being about safety. You know, and in his speech today, he didn't address vaccines directly, but he did raise concerns about chronic illnesses, autism, quote, "poisoning our children." And these are all references to these debunked and false and misleading claims that he has promoted for years that undermine trust in vaccines.

During - most recently, during the COVID pandemic, he opposed vaccine mandates and other public health measures. He promoted unproven treatments such as ivermectin. You know, and that did result in some of his social media accounts being taken down for spreading false health claims. He says that's censorship. But the pandemic also did a lot to raise his profile. And so we're in this sort of strange place now where Kennedy is this figure with this iconic Democratic name, but he's also now being embraced by many on the political right who have adopt [sic] anti-vax views.

Of all that day’s attempted takedowns, the most unhinged came from the New York Times’ Trip Gabriel, who (to put it mildly) needs an editor (and maybe a prescription):

Though his campaign is unlikely to pose a serious threat to Mr. Biden, the strength of emotions expressed by his supporters on Wednesday pointed to a group that is angry and distrustful of traditional Democrats when it comes to vaccines [sic]. Any link between childhood vaccines and autism has been widely rebuked [sic] by peer-reviewed scientific studies. Covid vaccines, which have been administered to millions of Americans, are safe and effective, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Nonetheless, misinformation about vaccines swirls online. . . .

So dense and tightly woven is this tapestry of lies that disentangling them would take a longish essay; so let me focus only on this paragraph, to show how low the New York Times—along with all the rest of “our free press”—has finally sunk:

Here Gabriel, like all his peers, ignores the range of issues raised by Bobby’s speech; but he goes much farther, by implying that the candidate’s real purpose is to spread subversive lies. What is “the cause”—the only cause—to which his presidential run is meant “to bring attention”? “That cause,” Gabriel asserts, “is vaccine skepticism”—the same “crusade that in the past led him to falsely link childhood vaccines to autism.” It is to “spread” such unbelief that Bobby has been working devilishly hard these past few years—a project thwarted by the corporate guardians of “social media” (or their federal superiors): “Both Facebook and Instagram took down accounts of a group he runs for spreading medical misinformation.”•

That dangling construction gives the game away. Did Gabriel mean that Facebook/Instagram blocked those accounts because they had been “spreading medical misinformation”? Or did he mean exactly what the sentence says about the candidate: that Children’s Health Defense is “a group he runs for spreading medical misinformation”? After all, that “crusade” once “led him to falsely link childhood vaccines to autism”—implying that he knew it to be “false”—and then, “at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, … to undermine public trust in vaccines,” presumably so that more people would be “vaccine-hesitant,” and (according to the propaganda logic) die of COVID.

How did this happen? How could Gabriel concoct, and his editor(s) approve, so virulent a slander, casting Bobby’s fight for vaccine safety, to better people’s lives throughout the world, as a malign “crusade” to sow distrust of all life-saving shots, and thereby put those countless lives—especially children’s lives—at risk? The answer is that Gabriel, his editor(s) and, evidently, all their colleagues at the Times believe devoutly in the propaganda it’s been venting steadily for years: “Any link between childhood vaccines and autism has been widely rebuked [sic] by peer-reviewed scientific studies,” writes Gabriel, linking to a prior hit-piece by the Times’ Sheryl Gay Stolberg, whose source for that canard is four slapdash pieces funded by Big Pharma, and whose uniform conclusion has been blown to bits by hundreds of more careful studies, all (of course) completely blacked out by the Times. Gabriel goes on: “Covid vaccines, which have been administered to millions of Americans, are safe and effective, according to the Centers for Disease Control,” he writes with an authoritarian credulity that he may one day bitterly regret, should he face justice for his having done precisely what he claims that Bobby’s done—put countless lives at risk by spreading lies.

Thus he and others at the Times have slandered Bobby so perversely and ferociously not just to placate certain mighty advertisers, and/or because the CIA demanded it. While such high powers have surely influenced the paper’s coverage of the candidate (and not just him), the hateful zeal with which the staff attacks this Kennedy betrays their own fanatical belief that what they write is true, and something that the whole world needs to know, or else this lying monster will exploit his family’s golden name to seize the White House.

This shocking slander by the New York Times, and variously echoed by the rest of “our free press,” is not just an outrageous pack of lies, but—worse yet—also an uncanny throwback to the darkest propaganda drives of yesteryear; but let me preface my elaboration on that point by noting how consistently the Times has always led the “journalistic” pack in trumpeting state propaganda, while never doubting the official line until too late (if ever). Thus it was (to note just a few examples) with the campaign against “the Hun” before and during World War I, and the brief, explosive Red Scare afterward, and the denial of Stalin’s terror-famine in Ukraine, and the “news” that Poland was attacking Nazi Germany (the Times also suppressing the extermination of the Jews), and with the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and all throughout the epoch of (what we still call, mistakenly) “McCarthyism,” and with the Gulf of Tonkin incident, and 9/11—and, it is now apt to note, the murders of John Kennedy, and Malcom X, and Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King, and all the other killings ordered from on high—of Patrice Lumumba, Dag Hammarskjöld, Fred Hampton, Thomas Merton, Allard Lowenstein, Paul Wellstone and so many more—but misreported, by the Times et al., as the work of random “misfits,” or accidental, or otherwise “acceptable.”

That deadly sequence of Big Lies has variously served to put us where we are today, in graver danger than we’ve ever known, because the vital remnant of American democracy has given way to a vast merger of the state—or, rather, states—with the world’s biggest banks and corporations; and from the managers of that new global order there emerged the biggest, most ingenious and effective propaganda drive in human history: a drive spearheaded by the rollout of “the virus,” and proceeding to the democidal “vaccination” drive, along with the related terrors over “white supremacy” (the George Floyd moment), “domestic terrorism” (“January 6”), “Ukraine,” “transphobia,” and—all along—“climate change” (the likeliest pretext for Lockdown 2.0) and “mass shootings.” Though there are grains of truth in some of those concerns, altogether they have been deployed to move the peoples of the world to kill themselves en masse, and give up all their rights and liberties, in order to “stay safe,” while those on high take over absolutely, for all time.

And that’s what Bobby talked about in Boston, where he launched his campaign not (as the “reporters” said) because it was his family’s home town (although he spoke of that), but for its revolutionary resonance—April 19 marking the 248th anniversary of the day the Revolutionary War began. (Paul Revere made his legendary ride the night before.) As Bobby pointedly explained, the conflict had in fact begun two years before, with the Boston Tea Party, an act of sabotage impelled by the imperial tax on tea, imposed so that the British East India Company—whose shareholders included the king, his ministers and most of the British aristocracy—could undersell New England’s merchants, and thereby profit the elite in London: “So that rebellion was in part against empire; but the spear-tip of that rebellion was a fury that the colonists had against the corrupt merger of state and corporate power.”

That line was the first to garner loud applause; because everybody in the room saw clearly, though he didn’t use the word, that Bobby had just dedicated his campaign to the defeat of fascism as it looms throughout the world today, imposed by governments in tight alliance with cartels—a fascist system not like Italy’s or Germany’s, or imperial Japan’s, but one far larger and more powerful than those ephemeral precursors. Here is a new global order, foretold by George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, with its cold blend of left- and right-totalitarian systems—a fascism “with Chinese characteristics,” a fascism in “woke” drag, a fascism that projectively accuses anyone who doubts or questions or opposes it as “fascist,” and—not least—a fascism exterminating millions upon millions not by force, but by inducing them to kill themselves, along with their own children, with toxins developed, inescapably promoted, sweepingly mandated and efficiently administered by the very agencies established to protect the people’s health, in league with corporations, state and city governments, schools and universities worldwide.

It was to call us all to join in his campaign against this fascist threat that Bobby spoke so powerfully last week, clearly pledging to resume the efforts of his uncle, and his father, to realize at last the promise of American democracy, by including all Americans as citizens, and to create “peace and prosperity” for all. His evocation of those martyred forebears was no mere nostalgic trick, for their efforts are more relevant, and crucial, than they’ve ever been since both men were cut down. JFK’s civil rights speech on 6/11/63, and the breadth of Robert Kennedy’s appeal in 1968—he was the last Democrat to be supported equally by poor blacks and working-class whites, both turning out en masse to greet the train that bore his body home—itself repudiates the racist tribalism of “woke” dogma, and, specifically, the neo-segregationism urged by Critical Race Theory. (Tacitly he scored the devastation of black-owned businesses by the riots following the murder of George Floyd.)

The Kennedys’ belief in economic growth, and therefore jobs for all (and not just in America), enabling full and comfortable lives for all who work, offers an invaluable alternative to the neo-feudal mass-starvation program called “the Great Reset,” and, relatedly, the eugenicist policies of Bill Gates and the Rockefellers, as well as a gradual reversal of the de-industrialization of America. In reaffirming his environmentalist commitment, speaking of the urgent need to keep our water, air and food all free of toxic chemicals—in every neighborhood—he recalled his forebears’ optimistic view that such things can be done, as Bobby helped do with the Hudson River (and that part of his speech included not a single word on climate change). And, finally, JFK’s firm commitment to nuclear disarmament, and stratagems to bring the Cold War to an end—efforts that had deadly consequences for himself—are more germane than ever, now that the US, under “Joe Biden,” is clearly inching toward an open war with Russia, despite the nuclear arsenals of both—a suicidal course that must be reconsidered through a proper public conversation now, since it’s been dictated, from the start (in the US-backed coup in 2014), by (as Bobby put it memorably) “neocons with ‘woke’ bobble-heads.”

These are just a few of the key issues Bobby raised so cogently last week—none of which “our free press” accurately paraphrased, or, often, even mentioned; for—again—their only purpose, clearly, was to move the audience against him, by casting him as a malicious “anti-vaxxer,” spreading lies as dangerous as “the coronavirus,” “climate change” and/or “transphobia.” That propaganda drive was doubly self-defeating. First of all, since few Americans (one out of five) now watch or read the corporate press, and even fewer trust it any more, that “journalistic” effort surely failed to shutter minds that weren’t already closed, while only bolstering the view of many others out there that it isn’t Bobby Kennedy who’s spreading catastrophic lies, but “our free press.”

And while they’ve surely failed to kill mass interest in his “message” (as they call it), so have they proved, by so mendaciously and viciously attacking him, that he’s entirely right about the nature of the beast, however artfully he worded his attack. For months—for years—“our free press” has slammed Bobby with the hatefulness, dishonesty and fierce authoritarian resentment that recalls the “journalism” typical of fascist systems, or fascistic movements, at their worst. Of all those prior strokes of character assassination, Trip Gabriel’s “report” may be the culmination; and so it is appropriate to note that his portrayal of Bobby Kennedy as a subversive liar, whose one and only aim is undermining public faith in the authorities, with drastic consequences for the people’s health, recalls exactly the demonic image of “the Jew” in Nazi propaganda, and (to bring the fascist model home) the no-less-demonic image of “the Communist” in the innumerable screeds and/or speeches of J. Edgar Hoover, Westbrook Pegler, Joe McCarthy, John Rankin, James Eastland, Richard Nixon, George Sokolsky, J. Parnell Thomas and countless other all-American demagogues and hacks who flourished for a long time after World War 2 (and in whose movement the young JFK and Bobby Kennedy were also active). Of course, that same demonic image of the ever-lying Enemy was no less commonplace throughout the terror-propaganda saturating Greece, Guatemala, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Indonesia, Chile, El Salvador and the many other countries “saved from Communism” by the CIA over the years; and yet that image of the ever-lying fiend was also commonplace throughout the rabid screeds penned under Stalin, against those targeted for obloquy, and death, ostensibly to save “the Revolution” (as satirized by Orwell in his passages on “Goldstein”).

Those attacks on Bobby are especially unfair in light of his remarkable restraint, as he refuses ever to attack in kind—a rare departure from the gross example set by Trump and all the Democrats so crudely lashing back at him, while also heaping slime on his supporters. From those reports on last week’s speech you’d never know that Bobby had observed a higher standard than the likes of (say) MTG and AOC, by expressing his love for those family members who had turned against him, along with his respect for their opinions; by taking no shots at the target-rich “Joe Biden,” while faulting Trump for nothing but the lockdown (which he condemned forthrightly as a national and constitutional disaster); and by taking an exalted view of the conflict in Ukraine, without shrilling about Putin or the Nazis in Kiev, but focusing entirely on the cost, in lives and treasure, of that war for the Ukrainian people and, potentially, the rest of us. Now that our rifts have been expertly deepened and exacerbated to the point of civil war, by those same federal agencies that crushed the promise of the Sixties, it is now a matter of our national survival that we overcome those differences; and this Kennedy—whose campaign motto is “Heal the Divide”—may help us do precisely that, just as his uncle, on June 10, 1963, urged Americans to reconsider the Cold War, think in a new way about the Russian people, and thereby do our bit to save the world.

How can we make this happen, with a “free press” intent on making those divisions even worse, and demonizing anyone who dares to speak the truths that they are paid, and handsomely, to hide, or misreport? One thing we can do is call them out unflinchingly for what they are, so that still more of us will finally see what liars they are, and how abjectly they have served our overlords at our expense. I hope that my examples of their coverage of that epoch-making speech will help to wake more people up to that dishonesty, while moving others to seek out that speech and watch it for themselves:

Joy Behar Scoffs at Marianne Williamson, RFK Jr. 2024 Presidential Runs: “That Clown Car Belongs on The Republican Side”

As we inch closer to the 2024 presidential race, The View is already making their predictions — and opinions — widely known. Amidst the news that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is running for president, the panel had plenty to say, including Joy Behar , who is fed up with the current “clown car” of nominees on the left.

But before she said her piece, Alyssa Farah Griffin expressed her own exasperation with the right, telling her co-hosts, “I am so frustrated with Republicans running so far right and out of touch with actual living, breathing republican voters that it makes it impossible to support them.”

Griffin lamented her party’s shift to the extreme, noting the overarching support for the LGBTQ+ community across the country and comparing it to some Republican legislation, including Florida’s Don’t Say Gay bill.

“You’re losing voters like me,” she said. “You’re also losing young voters.”

Behar chimed in to tell her co-host, “What you’re saying is that Republicans are losers, and I agree with that.”

Griffin laughed, then raised her finger at Behar and said, “ Nooo ,” as Behar continued, “What I would like to say about RFK is that he’s looney tunes, this guy.”

After mentioning Kennedy’s widely-condemned comments about Anne Frank and vaccine mandates, Behar continued, “He’s disqualified, as far as I’m concerned.”

“I think the clown car, including these right-wingers — not the right-wingers. The clown car consisting of RFK, even Marianne Williamson. She’s a nice person, but she’s not real material for president, in my opinion,” she continued. “That clown car belongs on the Republican side, because they’re good at that.

“The Democrats are actually trying to make things better for Americans in this country,” Behar told the panel. “They can try, and try, and try on the right to discredit the left, but the left is going to win because Americans are not stupid, and they see that Democrats are actually helping you.”

Referring to Democrats, she added, “They don’t want to hurt you,” before claiming, “Republicans in this country want to hurt you.”

Farah Griffin on RFK, Jr.:

“I have a theory that people just saw ‘Kennedy’ and they’re like, ‘Maybe he’s one of the Kennedys we liked from back in the day,'” Farah Griffin said. “But he’s actually been encouraged to run by Steve Bannon and Roger Stone. [That claim is false] He’s like a regular of Tucker Carlson’s program, where he spouts anti-vax conspiracies and pro-Russia propaganda. So this is not a serious individual.
