BBC News presenter tells fans he's battling brain tumour after horrific crash
August 9, 2023
A BBC broadcaster is undergoing brain surgery to remove a tumour that was discovered following a bike crash in June. BBC Scotland political editor Glenn Campbell has been off air since the bike accident in June left him with 10 broken ribs. In a message to his colleagues in the BBC Scotland politics team, he said he does not believe the tumour had caused his accident – but it is possible the fall "helped reveal the tumour earlier than might otherwise have been the case". The broadcaster insisted he is as "optimistic as it is possible to be" ahead of having surgery on Thursday (10th August), adding the operation is the "only way to find out exactly what type and grade the tumour is and to decide on further treatment".

August 5, 2023
Michael Flatley has shared an update on his battle with cancer, explaining that he is feeling positive. The Lord of the Dance is battling an "aggressive" form of cancer. 65-year-old Flatley received the diagnosis last January after a fan noticed a worrying mark on his face during an appearance on MTV. He has already beaten cancer once in the 2000s and has vowed that he will defeat the disease a second time. "It was certainly a punch of the solar plexus when I got the diagnosis," he told The Irish Examiner, "It’s a long hard road. I’m not going to lie. I’ve already made up my mind: I’m on the other side of that wall. I will not be defeated. Somehow or other I will beat this. I’ve beaten cancer before, I’ll beat it again. One of the ways I do that is I thank God every day for what I already have in my life. When God rings the bell, I’ll know it’s time to go. But until that time I’m going to keep punching.”

It's always difficult hearing about the musicians getting caught up in the pharma machine. And I don't mean Bieber and Celine - I mean conductors, soloists, serious people. Reason being, they do good work which benefits society, unlike the paper pushers, drug pushers and bureaucrats in the West. Time will tell where art goes from here. It will likely survive in some form as long as it's not brain-dead "AI art," worthless in the extreme.
