Kelly, wife of former soccer player Rubinho, in serious condition
December 2022
My name is Rubens Cardoso, better known as Rubinho, a former football player who made history at Internacional, Gremio, Santos among others, winning the titles of the Copa Libertadores da América, Copa do Brasil, FIFA Club World Cup in 2006 and Recopa. Exactly on my wife Kelly's birthday, the week we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary, she suffered a sudden illness. In desperation, I ran to the nearest hospital. They diagnosed severe brain bleeding and had to immediately take her to surgery because if it took a little longer she wouldn't survive. It was a brain aneurysm that ruptured, a situation so serious that if I hadn't taken her to that hospital and arrived at that time, she would not have survived. Now I REALLY need her help, as this hospital is a private hospital and due to the seriousness of the case, there was no way to transfer her to another hospital. My dear wife Kelly is still intubated, in an induced coma and admitted to the ICU. Her situation is very delicate. The values for the surgery to stop the bleeding and for all the treatment and ICU fees at this hospital have already exceeded 270,000 reais and we are in need of ALL possible HELP to pay the costs of this treatment. I thank everyone who can collaborate.

Former football player Andrade suffers sudden illness during Flamengo event
December 31, 2022
The former player and coach of Flamengo, Andrade, suffered a sudden illness during a festive game, last Thursday (29), and was hospitalized. Despite the scare, he used social media on Friday (30) to say he was fine. "I came to communicate and reassure you about my state of health, friends. Yesterday I felt unwell at a fraternization in Gávea. Perhaps because of the excitement of the Star Game the day before. Or even, a small premonition of our King Pelé's rest. Well cared for right there by the Medical Department", says the note. Andrade even participated in the commemorative game promoted by former teammate and friend Zico at Maracanã on the eve of the incident. On Thursday, in the morning, he was on the field again, but for the Flamengo masters party. Around 1:30 pm, he felt bad, was treated by the club's doctors, but was then taken to Hospital Pró Cardíaco, in Botafogo. "Faced with this sudden illness, my partner Edna and I decided to advance the routine exams at the end of the year (the famous check-up). I passed the exams, thank God! I thank you all for your concern and affection: I'm fine and surrounded by a lot of love around here", he concludes. The note did not say, however, whether the player was discharged from the hospital and has already returned home.

Panic in the air: a woman collapsed in mid-flight to Neuquén
December 24, 2022
Desperation, fear and a lot of worry. This is how the passengers who left Buenos Aires for Neuquén this Saturday at noon transited a JetSmart flight. It is that a woman seriously decompensated while they were flying and there was no way to revive her, so the plane had to return and land in an emergency.
The situation occurred on Flight WJ3446, which departed minutes after 12 from Aeroparque. According to a witness, they had been flying for half an hour when the woman fainted and collapsed, despite the attempts of the flight attendants to revive her. "They began to shout 'doctor on board please' and the stewardesses in two seconds cleared the surrounding seats and threw her on the aisle. She had no pulse," said Jeremías Madrazo, in dialogue with LMNeuquén. "Immediately while being served, a flight attendant ran back, picked up a phone and called the pilot," he continued. In this way, the plane made an untimely turn to return to Buenos Aires, where it arrived in fifteen minutes. "The plane made a sharp turn in descent, but without being abrupt. My ears hurt a lot, I think it was due to the emergency descent. Many people were shocked, vomited, and were in a panic," explained the man from Neuquén, who highlighted the work carried out by the airline staff to provide assistance to the woman in her 70s, who was traveling with her husband. When the plane touched down in Buenos Aires, the medical personnel immediately went up and lowered the woman, who was still not reacting, on a stretcher.

Woman collapses in clinic gym: Doctor saves her life

Get on the bike, warm up for ten minutes, then continue with the other equipment in the room. A 70-year-old woman from near Dachau has been staying fit in the Amper-Vital for many years. However, during an exercise session a few weeks ago, the woman developed an extreme headache after about seven minutes. “There is no term for it at all. The pain was so brutal, so devastating that everything else was suddenly gone," recalls the 70-year-old, who does not want to be named. At this point in time, the long-standing Amper Vital member had no idea that the cause of the pain was a cerebral hemorrhage. "I got off the bike and onto a bench to catch my breath," she recalls. A trainer notices the woman directly and informs Dr. Wolfgang Ködel, Head of Amper-Vital and Chief Physician for Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine at the Amper-Klinikum. The doctor immediately recognizes the seriousness of the situation. “In such a case, quick action is vital. Every minute really counts," explains Dr. Ködel. He places the patient on the floor and starts the emergency care. Meanwhile, the trainer informs the hospital's emergency team. The patient is taken to a CT scanner via the emergency room. The journey to the hospital is short and the diagnosis is made within minutes: the woman is suffering from a perforated aneurysm, a life-threatening cerebral hemorrhage. At this point, the patient has already lost consciousness. "We rushed her to the operating room right away," said Dr. bait. "Prof. Thomas Westermaier, our chief physician in neurosurgery, stopped the cerebral hemorrhage using the so-called clipping method," he continues. "Due to the quick reaction and the short distances in our clinic, permanent damage was fortunately prevented." After the emergency operation, the patient recovered quickly and did not feel any deficits or limitations. But it was only gradually that she realized her happiness. "I always tell my husband now: I had a whole football team of guardian angels. And the captain of the team is called Dr. Ködel."
