Christina Applegate Shares Look at Her Walking Sticks Ahead of First Public Event Since MS Diagnosis
October 27, 2022
Christina Applegate is preparing to reenter public life. The 50-year-old actress took to Twitter on Thursday to share a photo of the walking sticks she's planning to use at her first public event since her multiple sclerosis diagnosis last year. "I have a very important ceremony coming up. This will be my first time out since diagnosed with MS," Applegate wrote alongside a pic of five walking sticks. "Walking sticks are now part of my new normal." Applegate first went public with her MS diagnosis -- which, per Mayo Clinic, is "a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord" -- in August 2021.
Kathy Griffin Says 'News Isn't Great' About Voice After Cancer Surgery
October 28, 2022
Kathy Griffin has revealed she's continuing to regain her original voice, after her vocal cords were damaged during surgery following her lung cancer diagnosis. The comedian, 61, announced that she was diagnosed with the disease in August 2021, before then revealing in November that she was cancer-free. Over the past several months, she has expressed fears that her voice may never go back to what it was, after it was altered to a higher pitch than usual as a result of her treatment. In a TikTok post shared on Wednesday, Griffin revealed that those concerns remained following a visit to a laryngeal surgeon. "The news isn't great about my voice," she said in the video, which can be viewed at the top of this article. "I may have kind of maxed out about how much my vocal apparatus can recover from the damage that was done during the lung cancer surgery. But we're gonna try another injection in my left vocal cord first, which is now paralyzed. And then the decision will be, next time do I get the full arytenoid surgery and then a permanent, what they call an implant to my vocal cord. Not the fun place to get an implant." Mulling that her current voice may represent a new normal in her life, Griffin added: "How do I get people to just deal with this being my new voice?"
Car Seat Headrest pull all upcoming live dates through ill health
October 19, 2022
Car Seat Headrest have scrapped an upcoming headline tour, plus a scheduled festival appearance, as frontman Will Toledo battles a post-COVID condition. The band, whose latest album Making A Door Less Open was released in 2020, were due to embark on a West Coast tour from October 20 as well as perform at When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas. However, in a statement released via social media, Toledo said ongoing health issues have rendered him unable to perform. "After another month of struggling to regain my health, I am currently forced to face the fact that my body lacks the basic levels of functionality necessary to leave the house most days, let alone embark on a tour," he wrote. "As a result, we are unfortunately forced to pull out of the When We Were Young festival dates, and cancel our upcoming California tour." Last month Car Seat Headrest pulled out of Frantic City Fest in Atlantic City with the same issue. Toledo has explained previously that he is suffering from histamine intolerance, a "post-COVID condition which involves heavy nausea, fatigue, dizziness, and a buzzing nervous system."

October 30, 2022
Tyler Reddick had to pull out of Sunday afternoon’s NASCAR race in Martinsville after suffering an apparent head injury. [No further reference to that “injury.”] During the race, Reddick pulled himself out of the race and then was checked by NASCAR’s infield medical staff to see what was wrong, and dropped out of the race as a result.
Richard Childress Racing released this statement after Reddick left the race.
“Tyler Reddick wasn’t feeling well during today’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway, prompting him to get out of the car early,” the statement said. “He was evaluated and released from the infield care center, where he passed his neurological evaluation.”
RCR also said that Reddick (seen above during an Oct. 15 practice) will be reevaluated later in the week. Reddick could be heard on his radio saying that he had never felt that way before.

Legendary pro wrestling commentator Jim Ross is still dealing with the aftermath of skin cancer, but he's hoping for progress over the coming days and weeks. Back in December, however, Ross officially announced that he's cancer free. He returned to "Dynamite" but also added that he'd have to continue treatment to heal his wound, a process that's continued to this day. On his latest podcast, Ross stated that he's "making some progress" but believes the treatments to heal his wound will continue for "about a year."

River play gets out of control; boy almost dies
October 19, 2022
A family that was enjoying a moment of relaxation in a river experienced moments of anguish when one of its members blacked out, presumably after bronchial aspiration. The events allegedly took place in a river in the department of Caquetá in the municipality of Florencia in Colombia. A video circulating on social networks shows the moment when a family of five members are in the river, where two of them are playing. The adult man dunks a young man at least twice in the midst of laughter. Subsequently the family prepares for what apparently is taking a picture, since they line up. But the young man's eyes blank out and he faints. At first, the family believed that the young man, identified as Juan, was playing. One of the women even slaps him on the face, but they quickly realize that he does not react and they pull him to get him out of the water and give him first aid.

Mark, thank you for documenting.
John Fetterman, the Pa democratic candidate for the US Senate had a full on stroke in May, but his symptoms now mirror those of Bruce Willis. I wonder how many others have become similarly afflicted with aphasia.
