Veteran Bollywood films director Esmayeel Shroff passed away following a brief illness in Mumbai late on Wednesday, a family friend said. He was 62. Esmayeel was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Esmayeel Shroff had offered several hits including Ahista Ahista, Bulandi, Thodi Si Bewafai, Surya passed away today. Esmayeel was the only director to do four films with late veteran actor Raaj Kumar.

Kundapur: 13-year-old girl dies of cardiac arrest, eyes donated

A 13-year-old girl died of cardiac arrest on Thursday, October 27 at Tallooru. The girl is identified as Anushri and is the daughter of Arun Kumar Shetty and Bharathi. While father Arun Kumar Shetty works as the deputy director of Akshara Dasoha scheme in Kundapur, mother Bharathi works as a teacher in Hakladi High School. Anushri collapsed all of a sudden and lost consciousness when she got up to see if someone had called out to her. She was immediately rushed to a hospital. An autopsy was also conducted on Anushri at the Manipal hospital. However, details of the report are awaited. Anushri's eyes were donated and her last rites were conducted at Bharathi's mother's house on Thursday night.

While Rishab Shetty's Kannada film Kantara is already embroiled in a controversy over whether the rituals and deities depicted in the film are part of Hindu culture or not, a piece of tragic news has come out of Mandya district in Karnataka. A man reportedly died while watching the film in theatres. The name of the deceased was Rajasekhara and he was watching Kantara at Venkateswara Theater in Nagamangala on Monday, October 24. He had gone to the morning show with his friends but started feeling chest pain during the climax of the movie. He suffered a heart attack while walking out of the theatre, collapsed and breathed his last near the theatre. 45-year-old Rajasekhar was a native of Kunikenahalli village in Thuruvekere. He was working in a private college in Mysore. His family members have told news outlets that he was perfectly fine when he walked into the theatre to watch Kantara. A case has been registered at Nagamangala Police Station.

Army Captain killed, four others injured after defender crashes into tree in Welikanda

Sri Lanka - A captain of the Special Forces of Sri Lanka Army was killed and four others were injured when an army vehicle crashed in Welikanda this morning. Police said the vehicle lost control and wheeled off the road before it collided with a tree. The captain was injured and died on admission to the Welikanda hospital. Four officers, including the driver, were injured and admitted to Polonnaruwa Hospital. The deceased captain, a 28-year-old, was identified as a resident of Matale. The Welikanda Police is conducting further investigations.

Death near Queenstown: Police seeking information

Police are renewing calls for information, as they struggle to find out where a foreign man who died near Queenstown, New Zealand, was staying. Police responded to a sudden death incident on Saturday, October 22, in Sawpit Gully where Wai Ming Lai (51), of Hong Kong, died on a walking track. His death remains unexplained and is was possibly due to medical causes. It is not being treated as suspicious.

Pioneering Sega Developer Rieko Kodama Has Died

Rieko Kodama, one of the most important developers in the history of both Sega and the wider role-playing genre, has died at the age of 59. As IGN report, she actually passed away back in May, but her death was not announced publicly by the company at the time. Her contributions to Sega’s catalogue of classic titles and series was immense. Beginning with the company in 1984, she would work on everything from design to pixel art, and spent the her early career on series like Alex Kidd and Fantasy Zone. Kodama may be best remembered, though, for her pioneering work as a prominent woman in games development, for which she has been labelled “The First Lady of RPGs” (and indeed was awarded the Pioneer Award at GDC 2018), and leaves behind a legacy of characters and games that were designed for everyone, not just traditionally male audiences.

Another sudden illness threw into panic about 100 people who were flying in the past few hours. The video of the heart attack that suddenly struck a young pilot of an airplane in Indonesia is making the rounds of the web. All personnel on the plane entered the cabin to rescue the pilot. In the video you can see the pilot on the ground motionless showing no signs of life surrounded by rescuers. Tears and prayers from passengers. The video was shot by a lady who is clutching a rosary in her hand and praying desperately. An article on the website "El Informador" reports that, despite the rescue, the young pilot died due to sudden illness. The aircraft managed to make an emergency landing thanks to the immediate intervention of the pilot assistant. Below is the video posted online by the passenger who prays and frames the young lifeless pilot and his rescuers.

Alor Gajah - A couple and their infant son were killed when the car they were travelling in crashed into a stationary lorry at KM216 on the north-bound side of the North-South Highway here today. Alor Gajah district police chief Supt Arshad Abu identified the dead as Muhammad Nazirul Syafiq Azmi, his wife Zubaidah Abd Rajak, both 28, and their only child, one-year-old Muhammad Rizqi, and the lorry driver as Mohamad Asri Abdul Razak, 43. "Preliminary investigations at the scene show that Mohamad Asri had parked the lorry on the right-most lane and was placing cones before doing repair works on the divider when the car (Honda Jazz) driven by Muhammad Nazirul Syafiq crashed into the back of the lorry. The three victims died on the spot of serious head injuries while the lorry driver has been arrested to help in investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said. The couple, who were nurses, were on their way from Johor Bahru to Port Dickson for a holiday. Alor Gajah Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Muhamad Ezanee Hamat said they received an emergency call at 11.02 am and dispatched 21 personnel from Alor Gajah, Ayer Keroh and Tampin to the scene. "The lorry driver did not suffer any injury. The three bodies were sent to Hospital Alor Gajah for a post-mortem," he said in a statement.

A beloved tradie on The Block who died earlier this month aged just 42 had got married six months earlier. Jon-Jeremy Bradey, also known as Jon Jon, died on October 14 in Melbourne. The ‘pool king’ appeared on several series of the hit show and was regarded as “one of the greatest heroes in the industry”. He was married to his wife, Candice Howman, and had three children, Anileese, Kobe and Amelia. Industry pal Reece Daniltchenko told the Herald Sun that Mr Bradey was an “industry icon”. “Jon Jon was a devoted husband, father and friend, anything could be achieved when you had him in charge, which I had the privilege of witnessing first-hand,” he said. His cause of death has not been revealed.

In sorrowful news for the hotel industry – particularly in South Australia – Ward Matthews, co-director of Matthews Hospitality, died suddenly earlier this month. Matthews was one of three siblings heading up one of South Australia’s largest pub groups, which includes such lauded venues as Feathers Hotel, Maylands Hotel and Mount Gambier Hotel. Ward was part of the third generation of the Matthews family to run the hotel business, founded by his grandparents Seymour and Doris Matthews. A former Norlane family is struggling to come to terms with the sudden death of 44-year-old mum Diane Stratton. Ms Stratton died at home from a sudden medical condition, leaving behind her husband Simon and their children Zoe, 24, Phoebe, 19, Jacob, 4, and Ellie, 3. Ms Stratton has been remembered as a loving mum and a caring person with the most “infectious personality”. Family friends Christine Bowles and Sue Clarke set up a crowd-funding page to support the family as Mr Stratton navigates life as a single parent without his wife. Ms Bowles said that Ms Stratton, who died on September 24, was always up for a chat and would sing while she worked as a cleaner.

Hairdresser's tragic text to boss at Melbourne salon as her brother dies of a heart attack

A hairdresser has revealed the devastating texts she received from a young employee as she watched her 16-year-old brother suffer a fatal heart attack. Prue Taylor, who owns the Lady and the Hair Salon in Melton, west Melbourne, told Daily Mail Australia she was wondering why her apprentice Chelsea Goggin, 18, hadn't turned up to work by 9 am on Friday, 'which was totally out of character'. Then she saw a frantic string of texts from Chelsea, with the first one being sent 10 minutes before her shift was due to start. 'Call me asap,' the first message said. This was immediately followed by: 'My brothers heart has stopped beating and is not breathing'. 'I had to call 000,' the next one read, before the final text stated: 'Mums not here yet'. Ms Taylor still has the texts on her phone and says every time she reads them her eyes 'fill with tears'.
Chelsea said Nathan was fine on Thursday night but on Friday morning at about 8 am he complained about a pain that 'was everywhere in his back'. 'I turned around to get him a water, didn't even leave the room and he collapsed,' Chelsea told Ms Taylor. After she called Triple 0 the ambulance arrived quickly and paramedics spent two and a half for two hours trying to revive him at the family's west Melbourne home in Melton.

When Jaclyn Grady last saw her dad Robert Grady, 61, he was working in his backyard of his Black Mountain home and playing with his grandchildren. A few days later, on October 18, Mr Grady died suddenly. The popular butcher, horse trainer and chicken breeder was born in Nambour on November 4, 1960, and spent his life in the Cooroy region. Many residents posted online about how much they would miss him. “Great man taken way before his time,” one commenter said. “Will miss our cheeky and always smiling butcher.”

Tribute have flown for a beloved Gold Coast strip club security boss, with a GoFundMe campaign organised on behalf of his family raising more than $25,000. Richie Ahsam, who was locally acclaimed for his work at the infamous Surfer’s Paradise strip club, Hollywood Showgirls, died on Monday afternoon after telling friends he felt “sick as” and admitting himself to hospital, the Gold Coast Bulletin reports. While he was discharged, he died shortly after. In texts between Mr Ahsam and ‘Nuz’ Ngatai (who sings with the Koi Boys), the security boss wrote: “On my way to hospital bro. Sick as,” when asked for his whereabouts. In response, Mr Ngatai wrote: “Aw noo. No good bro. Get well gee”. The owner of Hollywood Showgirls, Craig Duffy described him as a “really funny character, a loveable rogue”. Mr Ahsam had worked at the venue shortly after its opening in 2003.

'We can't bring Sebby back': Family mourns four-year-old who died suddenly in hospital

The parents of Sebby Chua, the four-year-old New Zealand boy who tragically died with a throat infection, are on a "painful" journey to the Philippines with their son's ashes. The family had happy memories in the airport with Sebby, from when they moved to New Zealand for Abegail Chua's job as a nurse. The moments all flashed back on Thursday, as the Chuas started their journey to their family in the Philippines. The family first took an unwell Sebby to Kenepuru Community Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a virus, but went to Wellington Regional Hospital's emergency department a few days later when his condition got worse. Nine hours after turning up to the ED, Sebby died. Sebby died at the end of September. There is no official cause of death, but 1News reported that a preliminary coroner's report suggested complications from a throat infection. The parents were told Sebby was "fine" just days before he died in Wellington Regional Hospital. They now wonder whether anything could have gone differently: "Maybe he'd still be alive?" Abegail Chua wondered.

Jan Rabson 1954 to 2022
It is with deep sorrow that we share the news that Jan Rabson passed away suddenly due to a massive heart attack on Oct 13th. Son of the late Sonia and Alex Rabson, Jan was born in East Meadow, New York, on June 14, 1954.
To describe Jan’s life and legacy is an insurmountable task. He was bigger than life with a laugh that came from the deepest part of his being and became infectious to all hearing it. He was a creative, out-of-the-box thinker and had a brilliant sense of humour. He kept a playful spirit throughout his 68 years of life and a childlike wonderment about virtually everything. He was one of a kind!
His greatest passion was his immediate family as well as his extended family. He was a mensch in the truest sense of the word. Nothing mattered more to him than his devotion to his wife, Cindy and two sons, Adler and Hayden.
Leaving New York in his early 20s, Jan ventured to Los Angeles to pursue his career dream of acting. His dream became a reality. In a career that spanned over four decades, Jan’s face and especially his versatile voice graced literally hundreds of movies, sitcoms, cartoons and video games. Among his treasured accomplishments were working on many animated films for Pixar, Disney, Dream Works, Illumination, Universal, Sony Entertainment and many more spanning three decades. Two of the quirkiest roles of his career were being the voice of “Leisure Suit Larry” as well as the voice of Tetsuo Shima in the 1989 dubbed version of “Akira.” He was a nerd’s superstar!
Around 1990, he was invited to join the Might Carson Art Players. According to head writer Andrew Nichols, “Johnny didn’t trust many people to perform in his sketches, but we knew that Jan had the comedy chops required to appear live on stage with a legend and hold his own.”
Writer Ken Levine (“M*A*S*H”, “Cheers”, “Frazier”, “Becker”) kvetched, “When Jan acted in one of my scripts, I once said to him ‘the problem with you is you make everything work. I have no idea if it’s actually any good’ Jan Rabson was that naturally funny.”
Jan and his family left Los Angeles in 2002 for a more tranquil life on the shores of his beloved Salt Spring Island in Canada. He loved his island life and sharing in a community of people who had also chosen an unbeaten path. He loved the beauty of living in British Columbia. He truly stopped and smelled the roses daily.
In 2007 Jan, Cindy, Adler and Hayden proudly became Canadian citizens. The family also maintained their U.S. citizenship.
Jan is survived by his wife, Cindy Akers Rabson, his sons, Adler Keane Rabson and Hayden Jace Rabson and his brother, Froman Rabson.
