In memory of those who “died suddenly” in Canada, January 9-January 16, 2023

CANADA
A note from our lead Canada researcher:
As high as it is—higher even than the toll in Italy, although Canada has a much smaller population—the weekly toll that we have been recording in these compilations is much lower than it ought to be, due to the terseness of obituaries from some large populations.
Specifically, we have had trouble finding data on the “sudden deaths” of Asians, East Indians and Jews throughout the country (three large minorities), and of the Filipinos in Alberta. The death notices from those communities are less detailed than those from the general population.
There is a similar void of information in the Territories—especially about the large indigenous community, whom Trudeau’s police have sought to “vaccinate” by force. It is extremely difficult to find death notices of any kind for that community, whose rate of “sudden deaths” may well be hidden.
What all this means, in short, is that the true rate of “sudden deaths” in Canada is probably much higher than the quite high rate that we’ve recorded here.

He was an integral cog in our rock ‘n’ roll machine and we rocked the world together.” BTO, a remained a top rock act throughout the 1970s, with Randy Bachman leaving the group in 1979 and returning, off and on, until his retirement in 2004.

DWTS Finalist Mourns Sudden loss: ‘It Is Not Fair’
January 15, 2023
“Dancing With the Stars” season 30 finalist Amanda Kloots is mourning the sudden loss of a family member whom she will miss “tremendously” — her mother-in-law Lesley Cordero. On the official Instagram account for Lesley’s art, Nick Cordero’s siblings, a brother named Matt and a sister also named Amanda, shared the news that Lesley died after a short battle with liver cancer. “As so many of you know, our mom’s ability to make friends wherever she went resulted in many incredibly wide reaching friendships. So much so, that her connections reach across multiple countries. Because of these friendships, how loved she was by so many, and how unbelievably fast this all happened, we have felt overwhelmed around how and when to share this news with you all. Upon receiving her diagnosis last month, our mom’s approach was very pragmatic. She took everyday as it came with organization and consideration for her family first (which is no surprise).“

It is with heavy hearts that her family announces the passing of Patricia Jennifer Samson (nee Pocock). After a heroically fought battle with an incurable cancer, Patsy passed away peacefully on December 31, 2022, with her loving husband of 47 years by her side. Patsy loved cottaging. Every year, before moving from Toronto to Lake Simcoe in 2020, Patsy would spend hours researching and vetting the most beautiful spots in Ontario. Once she found the perfect spot, she and her husband would spend their summers sipping chardonnay (and Canadians) on the dock, watching their children, and later their grandchildren, swim, and enjoy sunsets together.
