Lance Reddick's cause of death disputed by family attorney: 'wholly inconsistent with his lifestyle'
April 7, 2023
Actor Lance Reddick’s family attorney has released a statement disputing his cause of death. Reddick was found dead in his home on March 17. Attorney James Hornstein said Thursday that the actor’s lifetime of personal fitness seems to contradict a statement from the coroner that Reddick died of heart disease, according to a statement given to Fox News Digital. He also said Reddick’s body did not undergo an official autopsy. According to Reddick’s death certificate, which TMZ obtained and made public, his cause of death was ischemic heart disease and atherosclerotic coronary artery disease. Hours after its release, Hornstein said "the information appearing on the death certificate is wholly inconsistent with his lifestyle." "I have represented Lance Reddick for many years and continue to represent his wife Stephanie. The coroner's statement on the death certificate is not a result of an autopsy. No autopsy was performed on Lance. To my knowledge, no medical examination of Lance during his lifetime ever indicated such conditions," Hornstein added in the statement. "Lance was the most physically fit person I've ever known. He exercised daily at his home gym, including extensive cardio work, and the availability of gym facilities was a contractual requirement for his work away from home," the attorney said. "He ate as if a dietitian was monitoring his every meal." He concluded, "On behalf of Stephanie Reddick, the death certificate information is not corroborated and is inconsistent with the facts known to the family." The Baltimore-born Reddick was 60 when he died "suddenly" due to natural causes Friday morning, his publicist Mia Hansen confirmed in a statement to the Associated Press. He was perhaps best known for his leading role as straight-laced Baltimore police lieutenant Cedric Daniels on the hit HBO series "The Wire." He also starred as a loyal hotel manager Charon in the John Wick films — including the most recent release, "John Wick: Chapter 4," which is still in theaters.

An artist “died suddenly”:
A celebrated Tacoma artist — known for striking sketches and ‘Dead Feminists’ — dies at 41
April 6, 2023
Tacoma artist Chandler O’Leary [in a self-portrait, above] could “draw anything,” according to her husband, Donald Sidman. Known locally and beyond for her one-of-a-kind illustrations, watercolor sketches and letterpress work — much of which relied on Tacoma and the grandeur of the Pacific Northwest as a muse — Sidman said that one of his wife’s many gifts was making “a study of all that she could see.” O’Leary died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 2, from what Sidman described as a brief, sudden bout with severe pneumonia. Only 41, O’Leary left behind a grieving husband, a 4-year-old son, and a broader Tacoma art community struggling to come to terms with a loss no one saw coming.

Adrian O’Leary posted a tribute to his sister on Facebook:
I never dreamed I’d be writing this. I debated putting this on here because I value our privacy. However, there are friends I have no other way of contacting, and I’d rather you hear it from me. Forgive the tags, but posts tend to get lost in the algorithm. Very early this morning, my only sister, Chandler, passed away in Tacoma. She was 41. She had come down with pneumonia, run a high fever for several days, and in typical Chandler form tried to push through it. Even posted a photo of a thermometer reading 102.6 on Instagram. Friday she went to a clinic, and they sent her to the hospital in an ambulance due to severe low blood pressure. The hospital put her on oxygen. She developed sepsis. Then late Saturday afternoon, my brother-in-law called to say she was on a ventilator. At 3:30 am this morning, my phone rang and I knew it wasn’t good. She lost the battle and her body simply gave up. Less than 36 hours and gone, just like that. I’ve run the gamut of emotions. Shattered sobbing, anger at her for not seeing a doctor sooner, despair that her 4-year-old son has no mother, devastation about having to break the news to my parents and aunt. I’ve questioned whether her bout with COVID last summer damaged her lungs. Yeah, long COVID is still a thing. I’m drained, exhausted and talked out.

April 1, 2023
Hastings, NE - I don't quite know how to go about saying this. We are in such shock and sorrow right now. I had a good birthday today, but it took a bad turn. After supper, Loren was standing, talking to my brother (we both were) on the phone. Loren suddenly dropped to the floor like a rock. I called 911 right away. They came quickly and began compressions and paddles and epi. He had a femoral pulse and they were bagging him when they took him to the hospital. At the hospital, they did all that they could, but he couldn't be saved. At 63, my husband died of a massive heart attack. We are in a stupor and starting to try to work things out. Please pray for Loren's brothers John and Lynell (Lynell's wife Candy) and Loren's stepmom Necia. Pray for Jacob, Jaci, and myself, my mom and my 2 brothers and 2 sisters, our niece, nephews (and one spouse), and great-niece and nephews, brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law. Loren would have been a grandfather in August. I
