Then same relative mentions another middle-aged (late 40s) friend, recently so strapped for cash that he had to borrow money from parents, nonetheless springing for FOUR TICKETS TO TAYLOR SWIFT CONCERT, at $1500 per ticket, to take his wife and kids. This strikes me as not merely odd but deeply irrational.
