In completely unrelated news this side of the Atlantic, the UK government is paying farmers to leave or retire from farming, as published on gov.uk this month.

It is grim out there and encompasses a heck of a great deal more than Free Speech or Elon Musk.

It's sad seeing what Snopes has become. I used to love reading that site back in the early 2000's when it was all about folklore and urban legends. Now it is just another state-approved "fact checker" (aka propagandists).

I think all of this has been going on for decades if not centuries. When the reset and 4IR was discussed most heavily in 2020 I thought - hasn't this been the road taken for all my life? I do think it's been escalated and the notion of transhumanism seemed to reside in the distant future.

But surely paying off farmers not to plant is old news, like old, old news.

The answer has been touted for some time, small local pesticide free farms. But no one wants to do it. You see the problem is obedience to authority, and the mass domestication of willing people.

For years I attempted to rebuild our local farming. Within a short time it had gone from 25,000 in (not exactly the breadbasket state of CT) to 4,000 with no succession in sight (average age 55+). Hits and misses. People just say, why bother? "I can go to the super market and get strawberries in winter."

Children think vegetables come in cellophane. Some head way on that score, but no real rubber to the road. This problem is like Ukraine - a war that didn't need to happen and one that could be stopped within days is allowed to roll on.

I don't think famine will move the needle, if in fact it happens, they'll blame the "unvaccinated" or some other scapegoat. Sorry to sound jaded on this but just look around.

Well, "ALL of this" has surely NOT "been going on for decades." Only federal subsidies per se are "old, old news," but these new ones must be reconsidered in the context of all the rest that's happening only now.

I think the facts are farmers have curtailed (subsidized) planting and harvesting on the bequest of the government for almost as long as I can remember (I'm in my 70s). My point is the trajectory hasn't changed for many decades. But more importantly, while the US produces what we call "food" the soil is depleted through massive fossil-based fertilizers and pesticides and created huge waterway dead zones. The food is processed for shipping (preserves) which adds toxins. It's high caloric, but low nutrition. What's more the whole process from harvest to delivery is very fragile. There's no redundancy in the system; local farmers are mostly gone in the same way Central America lost much of its indigenous farming. It needs to be replaced, but there's virtually no movement to do it.

Here's one of many articles on what the government does to reduce farm outputs: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/why-does-the-govt-pay-farmers.

Great to "hear" from you David. While I may have a slight disagreement with MCM here, I generally find him to be very perceptive.

This is probably the most important story now after the clot shots. We'll all be affected by this and should prepare (prep) as much as possible. I just read the Disaster Ready Home by Creek Stewart, which was very helpful.

Ya, I think you’re right. The newest way to divert the thoughts of the regular guy in the street. Keep them off what they’re really up to. I can’t think of a single benign reason why Gates wants all that farmland. The moment I heard that he was the largest owner of farmland I was so creeped out! And with the at last count, sixteen food production plants being burned out, well it doesn’t take rocket science to know that there skullduggery in the wind.
