There has been a strange and unusual phenomenon going in within the UK this summer. It has been unusually warm with only one period of rain in May since March (but sky graffiti daily even at nights. I keep a photo diary of it). These conditions are usually associated with low virus infections and bacterial conditions. Instead there have been numerous circulating illnesses in both the voluntary control and experimental groups.
I’ve had a summer cold, a bacterial skin infection from super field fleas, and a vomiting illness. These might be expected in warm, humid tropical conditions but not in a drought. Not in UK summer.
I would love some ideas from those more knowledgeable in epidemiology and virology.
My theory goes like this: the experimental group’s immune systems have been hijacked to only fight off Alpha. So there’s more opportunistic illnesses become stronger as no immune reaction is ameliorating them. And though the control group then becomes contaminated too, their immune systems eventually fight off whatever has affected them. (Though required antibiotics for skin thing). While the experimental group takes longer to fight them off and ends up more depleted. As such, yet another one can hit them again with ever greater grace ease.
