Matt Williams diagnosed with colon cancer
March 29, 2023
SAN DIEGO -- Padres third-base coach Matt Williams has been diagnosed with colon cancer and will take a leave of absence from the club beginning Friday, when he is scheduled to undergo surgery.
Williams, who is entering his second season with the team, spoke Wednesday and said he's experiencing no symptoms. He will be on hand for Opening Day on Thursday, but, understandably, wouldn't put a timeframe on his potential return.
Mike Shildt, an advisor with the team, will serve as third-base coach in Williams' absence.
Williams said the cancer was discovered as the result of routine blood work earlier this spring. He continued coaching, but recently informed the team he would step away, though he will remain in San Diego for the procedure and recovery.
"It's a strange thing, because I wouldn't have known otherwise," Williams said. "I feel as good as I've felt in 20 years, able to continue to still do my job and everything else.
"It's just a question of: It's there, and we have to go get it. So now we start that process."

'The View' Co-Host Absent After Testing Positive for COVID-19
March 30, 2023
Alyssa Farah Griffin is absent from her spot on The View for the second time in two weeks after contracting COVID again. Whoopi Goldberg revealed that Griffin would sit out the March 30 episode at the top of the live broadcast. "Hello, hello, and welcome to The View ," Goldberg said into the camera. "Unfortunately, Alyssa is not with us again because she's got COVID." She continued, cautioning the crowd and viewers that it's still a serious problem. "We keep telling people, it's not gone. It's still out there, so do pay attention, because it pops up and wants to give you kisses."
Farah Griffin isn't the first co-host on the daytime talk show to contract the virus. In November 2022, Goldberg missed several episodes after contracting COVID. She also got COVID at the top of the year in January 2022. Her diagnosis "was a shock, because I'm triple vaxxed, I haven't been anywhere, I haven't done anything," as ABC reported her saying at the time. "It's one of those things where you think, I've done everything I was supposed to do... Yeah, it doesn't stop Omicron."

Metal Drummer's Hospitalization Leads to Band Backing out of Tour

Louisville, Kentucky-based death metal hardcore crossover band Gates to Hell was forced to mack out of their current tour after drummer Jared Barron was hospitalized. The band had been touring with Maggot Stomp label mates Morbid Visionz when Barron suddenly fell ill and couldn't “go 30 minutes without vomiting.” After Barron's illness prompted the band to cancel their appearance in Atlanta before finding a replacement for their Jacksonville, Florida show, Gates to Hell informed fans in a March 23 tweet that they would not be continuing the current leg of their tour.
"So, unfortunately our drummer Jared is currently in a hospital in Jacksonville with some health complications and we will be here a few days before he can get out. With that being said we are very sad to have to announce we will no longer be able to finish out the remaining shows that we have booked with [Morbid Visions] over the next week," the band announced, adding that "health is always a top priority and right now Jared is not in any sort of condition to even leave the hospital."

This is a global genocide - wake up everybody - GOD help us to help ourselves for this is Spiritual warfare ...
Very sad. My brother is double-vaxxed and no problems, my college-aged daughter triple because of college. I wanted to help her request an exemption, but she was afraid it would cause her to lose out of class access. She refused to answer my questions about side effects, but she has looked ok. She is on the spectrum. I work in a hospital and we have been seeing cases like this. Young people with stage 4 cancer and non-stop code stroke in the ER and tele floors. So far my co-workers have only had autoimmune issues and menstrual irregularities after primary series, but I have heard of one husband and one teen who died suddenly on other units.
