General Hospital actor John J. York is opening up about his health battles. After announcing earlier this month that he would be taking a step back from his role as Mac Scorpio on the long-running ABC soap opera, York took to social media Wednesday to reveal that he was recently diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome and Smoldering Multiple Myeloma, blood and bone marrow disorders. "I said I was going to give you an update on the reason I'm taking a little hiatus from General Hospital and here it is. So last December of '22, I was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndromes, or MDS, and multiple smoldering myeloma - two blood and bone marrow disorder," York revealed in a video message. According to the National Cancer Institute, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are "a group of cancers in which immature blood cells in the bone marrow do not mature or become healthy blood cells." Multiple smoldering myeloma is a precancerous condition that alters certain proteins in blood and/or increases plasma cells in bone marrow, but it does not cause symptoms of [myeloma] disease.
Jon Moxley Reveals He Has Been Diagnosed With Potentially Crippling Health Condition
September 15, 2023
Jon Moxley [37] is one of the biggest name stars in the wrestling world; however, his ongoing career longevity has now been called into question following an interview with Bleav In Pro Wrestling, where he revealed he had been diagnosed with arthritis. The AEW star would note that he was actually told he has the same level of arthritis as a man in his 70s and struggles to even move before noon, adding that if he had to wrestle in the morning, he would opt to retire. “The doctor last year told me that I have the arthritis of a 70-year-old man. And that was quite humbling; that was a year or two ago. So, by now, it’s like a 72-year-old man. I don’t move very well in the mornings but thank god shows are at night because by then, I’m pretty loosened up. You know, because if wrestling shows took place in the morning, like Saturday morning Superstars, if we started doing like those early territory style studio TV tapings on like Sunday Mornings. I would retire; I’d be done. Lot of times, I can’t even move before noon.”
“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan Undergoes Emergency Surgery Following Sudden Hospitalization
September 9, 2023
In worrying news, it has been confirmed by “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan’s wife via Facebook that her 69-year-old husband was hospitalized on Friday and had to undergo emergency surgery on Saturday morning. No further information was shared regarding the sad event, but prayers were welcomed. “Jim was taken to the hospital and admitted yesterday evening. He had emergency surgery this morning and everything went well. We will reschedule tomorrow in Utica, MI, for a later time. We welcome your prayers and we will continue to provide updates. Thank you, Debra.” Unfortunately, the former WWE and WCW star has had multiple health emergencies over the years, dating back to being diagnosed with kidney cancer in 1998. Happily, he overcame that; however, in 2018, he was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat requiring surgery. Then, later in the same year, he underwent two further operations for what was described as a severe infection. Additionally, as of 2021, he has again been battling cancer, and while initially thought to have been successfully treated, he would later disclose that it had returned.
Terry Bradshaw struggles to make it through postgame highlights
September 7, 2023
Between his playing and broadcasting careers, Terry Bradshaw has consistently been involved in the NFL since he was drafted first overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1970. It’s safe to say that Sunday was not his best day. Bradshaw. who turned 75 on Sept. 2, was working his way through postgame highlights on Fox’s postgame show, The OT. It did not go well. As Bradshaw wrapped up the highlights of the Washington Commanders win over the Arizona Cardinals and transitioned into the Jacksonville Jaguars win over the Indianapolis Colts, he struggled to identify the names of the teams and players. As the Jaguars versus Colts highlights were wrapping up, it got to a point where even Bradshaw couldn’t help but acknowledge the issues. “I know, I got it. I’m so proud of myself, he said. “Now where did that come…those highlights were all over the place. Where did that come from? Sorry about that, sports fans.”
Bradshaw then paused briefly before jumping right back into the highlights. Four more games were on the docket: the Cleveland Browns win over the Cincinnati Bengals, then the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeat of the Minnesota Vikings, the Baltimore Ravens win over the Houston Texans and finally, the New Orleans Saints victory over the Tennessee Titans. It didn’t get a lot better. At the end, Bradshaw again said, “I’m kinda proud of myself. That’s hard. I screwed it up a little bit. But it’s the first show.”

Duckworth, Underwood, García, Kelly receive Covid-19 vaccine, encourage communities of color to receive the vaccine when it is available
December 21, 2022
After receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine over the weekend, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and U.S. Representatives Lauren Underwood (D-IL-14), Jesús “Chuy” García (D-IL-04) and Robin Kelly (D-IL-02) urged communities of color to receive the vaccine when it is available to them. The members also released a video discussing the importance of trusting the science and getting vaccinated. “With full confidence in the science and at the direction of the Attending Physician of the Capitol for continuity of government operations requirements, I received my first dose of the Pfizer vaccination over the weekend,” Duckworth said. “I urge everyone in Illinois to get a COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to them, especially communities of color that have been dying at disproportionate rates from this virus and have understandable hesitations when it comes to trusting the safety of this vaccine and our medical system. I’ll continue working alongside my colleagues to increase awareness of this safe, effective vaccine so that we can protect our fellow Americans and end this deadly pandemic.”

MotorTrend Host Steve Magnante in Serious Condition After Brain Infection
September 14, 2023
Details are scarce, but we've learned that Hot Rod editor emeritus and MotorTrend host Steve Magnante is suffering from a severe brain infection, according to a YouTube video posted by Rick Debruhl, Steve's broadcast partner at Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. In the update, Debruhl states that Steve is not in a place where he can respond to calls or receive flowers or cards, and that his family has asked for privacy during this difficult time. Magnante has long been a fan-favorite with his deep subject knowledge of vintage cars. His ability to recall the most minute detail on demand is only rivaled by his affable demeanor and polite comportment even under the most pressing broadcast scenarios. Those who know Steve personally appreciate the fact that he is exactly the same in person as he is on your television screen, and he approaches the hot-rodding hobby with a childlike enthusiasm that many spend a lifetime trying to recapture. At this juncture, all we can do is wait for the outcome and hope for the best. An infection of the brain is considered a very serious illness and even in the best cases the course of treatment can take several weeks or months.
I'm glad I thought I was a horse and avoided the jabs. I would have taken "horse dewormer" if I actually needed it which I didn't.
You may have heard this already but Stetson Bennett, new QB for the LA Rams has been put on IR for a non-football injury. Coach Sean McVay wouldn't say what is wrong, just that it's "bigger than football."
Do we dare ask the question?
Billy Miller, 43, star of The Young and the Restless soap opera, died Friday, Sept. 15. No cause mentioned. He would have been 44 today (Sept. 17).
