I watched the 1973 film “Soylent Green” a couple of days ago. It’s incredible how much predictive programming is in that film. It’s like a Club of Rome wet dream for everything that’s happening now. Masks and climate change and food scarcity figure prominently. Yes, I’ve seen it many times before. But it just seemed more poignant in light of everything that’s occurring now.
I think we saw that one at the drive in. But I did see Animal House the weekend it came out. They weren’t going to let me in because it was rated R, so my older sister lied and told them that our parents had died and she was my guardian.
Every dystopian, futuristic movie from the 70s and 80s always scared me - and they formed my beliefs, thank God I watched them, so I would always be skeptical of government. Although I'm beyond skeptical after covid, and in the realm of fury and hatred.
Almost all these sci-fi dystopian films have elements of this predictive programming. Read This Perfect Day by Ira Levin (author of Rosemary's Baby and Stepford Wives). The characters need monthly shots in order to have "freedom" in the society, and there are multiple checkpoints where they must scan their arms in order to move around the city.

I think when talking about the 'left' we are talking mainly about white, middle class people who live relatively privileged lives and count on the government taking care of their real interests. Have you considered that had the Egyptians and Jordanians in Gaza stayed on their side of the border, not murdered and kidnapped thousands of unarmed civilians, and not fired thousands of rockets at civilians in Israel, that the Israelis wouldn’t have had any reason to start an offensive against them. It would have been just another day. They chose the day, they just didn’t plan for the hornets nest they were coming to come alive!

Freelearner below I think gives you many examples in US history. The Israel attack on the USS Liberty was well documented in a full length documentary interviewing survivors of that attack. Look it up on Youtube. Israel also has what is called the Hannibal Directive, which altho was presumably retracted a few years ago, in fact operationally was not. That directive called for the killing of israeli hostages so they could not be used in negotiations. In face released Israeli hostages have stated those killed were killed by the IDF on purpose! I don't know what else you want to know but you can certainly do the same reading as I do which is not the MSM which is nothing but a study in propaganda techniques.

I think this is a narrow minded perception that many share with you. It lacks context that includes a 75 yr brutal and illegal Occupation that has been assaulting Palestinians for years killing 1000's and maiming many others. The destruction of all infrastructure and the ability of the Palestinians to have their own economy, which they did have, is genocidal in its own right.

One thing I have questioned is what was the devastation actually done in Israel. WE have never seen pictures of what damage actually happened. What we do hear form hostages released is how well Hamas treated the Israeli hostages. I have read 3 different reports from Israeli women released or whose home was entered but not destroyed or the women/children harmed. Quite different than the brutality by Israelis meted out on the Palestinians.

I think this is an important theory and quite possibly true. They likely never conceived of meeting with large numbers of civilians and no IDF. They went into it expecting to kill and/or be killed vis-a-vis soldiers, but were met with civilians. In many cases they acted absolutely inhumanely and psychopathically, but in other cases took prisoners with minimal violence because no one had planned for this. I don't really have any idea what truly happened there but I do believe that in the absence of IDF it was unplanned mayhem.
I don’t think that the IDF was completely absent. Maybe in man power but not in aircraft and helicopters. I think the second were in the air over the Hamas fighters and their captives/victims fairly quickly.
I initially thought that it was deliberate on the part of Netanyahu, kind of stand down orders so that Hamas could do the damage.
I think that it’s a bit more subtle than that now and of course you can’t stand down every officer in the IDF tasked with protecting locals, some of them are just not going to let that happen even if the order is there.

I also think that it is time that the West stopped putting women in their forces. It is very unfair on those women and it is not good for your forces. We are a dymorphic species and men are stronger, faster and larger than women (overall, you might find an odd exception)
We have no clear information on what happened. Hamas clearly broke thru that prison wall. The surprise of that resulted in many Palestinians entering Israel and were part of the rampage. I suspect they, not Hamas did most of the civilian injury given the reports of well treatment by Hamas from the released hostages. WE also have not seen any photos of damage so have no idea how extensive it was. One thing we do know is they were not bombed in their sleep with entire families murdered. Another thing we do not know is whether that many people were actually killed. One thing we do know is that about 50% of them were actually mlitary which in Israel also includes women. One report read claimed only 700 deaths 50% of them military. Civilian deaths only included about a dozen children. Not dismissing any deaths but do find the proportionality quite different and the fighting forces operating quite different in their morality. Did you read the interview with an Israeli woman whose house was broken into by Hamas where she described the care by Hamas to NOT injure her or her children? Then there were at least 2 interview with released hostages that reported the good treatment they received by Hamas. It is quite clear which side has any morality and the one with bombs is not it.

Look it up on Youtube. Israel also has what is called the Hannibal Directive, which altho was presumably retracted a few years ago, in fact operationally was not. That directive called for the killing of israeli hostages so they could not be used in negotiations. In face released Israeli hostages have stated those killed were killed by the IDF on purpose! It lacks context that includes a 75 yr brutal and illegal Occupation that has been assaulting Palestinians for years killing 1000's and maiming many others. I think this is an important theory and quite possibly true. They likely never conceived of meeting with large numbers of civilians and no IDF. They went into it expecting to kill and/or be killed vis-a-vis soldiers, but were met with civilians. In many cases they acted absolutely inhumanely and psychopathically, but in other cases took prisoners with minimal violence because no one had planned for this. I don't really have any idea what truly happened there but I do believe that in the absence of IDF it was unplanned mayhem.

I think that it’s a bit more subtle than that now and of course you can’t stand down every officer in the IDF tasked with protecting locals, some of them are just not going to let that happen even if the order is there.

We have no clear information on what happened. Hamas clearly broke thru that prison wall. The surprise of that resulted in many Palestinians entering Israel and were part of the rampage. I suspect they, not Hamas did most of the civilian injury given the reports of well treatment by Hamas from the released hostages. WE also have not seen any photos of damage so have no idea how extensive it was. One thing we do know is they were not bombed in their sleep with entire families murdered. Another thing we do not know is whether that many people were actually killed. One thing we do know is that about 50% of them were actually mlitary which in Israel also includes women. One report read claimed only 700 deaths 50% of them military. Civilian deaths only included about a dozen children. Not dismissing any deaths but do find the proportionality quite different and the fighting forces operating quite different in their morality. Did you read the interview with an Israeli woman whose house was broken into by Hamas where she described the care by Hamas to NOT injure her or her children? Then there were at least 2 interview with released hostages that reported the good treatment they received by Hamas. It is quite clear which side has any morality and the one with bombs is not it.

I don't know if informed consent happened in this anecdotal Tunisian arm of Pfizer's clinical trial but our young friend was completely traumatized by the time she got hold of my son.
