Tom Jones and CSNY do "Long Time Gone"; Pentatonix does "Hallelujah"; Bob Dylan, a choir of angels at his side, does "Like a Rolling Stone"; Billy Preston does "My Sweet Lord"
They can kill musicians, and drive many of them mad, but they can't kill the music
Let this post honor Tom Jones—who, at 83, just performed at Greenwich, and brilliantly, despite his having had to cancel some shows a few months ago, for reasons of (what else?) ill health.
Last night I read a piece about his Greenwich concert, including a video of three numbers, including Dylan’s “Not Dark Yet.” Now I can’t find that piece; but, below, as a sort of bonus track, I’ve added the studio recording, from two years ago.
I remember watching Tom Jones on tv as a kid... my friend’s mom would just about throw her panties at tv screen! 🙈😁
Great to see Eric Clapton strumming on My Sweet Lord before the jab damn near took his hands.
