Tennis Player Dominic Thiem Forfeited His US Open Match After a Health Scare
August 30, 2023
During a second round match against Ben Shelton, Dominic Thiem [29] made fans at the US Open nervous as he appeared to suffer from some sort of health emergency. Dominic ultimately had to forfeit the match after the opening set, leading many to wonder exactly what happened to the professional athlete that led to this moment. This isn't the first time that Dominic, who is the former No. 3 player in the world, has dealt with a health scare in recent years, but his inability to finish the match was nonetheless concerning for fans watching both in the stadium and at home.
Dominic lost the opening set of his match on August 30 to Ben Shelton and then left the court briefly. He complained to his team after returning and then dropped the first game against Ben, one in which he seemed barely able to return the ball at all. He then doubled over the net and called the doctor onto the court. He appeared to be gagging as he was ultimately forced to forfeit the match. Dominic previously had to drop out of the Winston-Salem Open last week because he was suffering from gastroenteritis, which is a short-term illness that's caused by an infection of the digestive system. Given the way he was behaving on the court, it seems possible that Dominic was suffering from the same thing during this match, as well.
Dominic has not made any sort of public statement about why he withdrew from the match, but it's clear that he believed he couldn't continue. Given his recent struggles with gastroenteritis, many believe that that is responsible for the issues he was experiencing on the court. Regardless of what his exact health issues were, though, everyone is hoping that he can return to playing at a high level soon. Although Ben is undoubtedly happy to be headed to the next round, he likely didn't want to come by his victory under such sad circumstances.

Rob Ruha 'grateful to be alive' after recent heart attack
August 31, 2023
Whakatāne - Māori musician Rob Ruha has told fans he’s “grateful to be alive” after revealing he had unknowingly endured a heart attack two weeks ago. The 35 hitmaker detailed his experience in an intimate post shared to his Facebook page late on Wednesday night, writing that he had initially “brushed off” his pain before undergoing a medical procedure a week later. The pain had begun following performance practice for Koroneihana, where Ruha said he “felt a mamae [pain] I had kinda felt before... but it was never this hundy. I did the performance with my iwi that day, felt fine and thought nothing of it. Little did I know, I had just had a heart attack.” He said he experienced a less intense pain in his neck, “like food sitting there after eating too fast”. The symptoms continued for regularly every two days. “One week on from the initial attack that I had brushed off as indigestion and bad case of heartburn. I felt GREAT!” Ruha wrote “That night, my wife got the call to urgently get me to hospital – the other test was back and indicated that I had a heart attack and now have to undergo more tests to confirm.” He had originally visited Whakatāne Hospital, before being “rushed to cardiology in Tauranga, who after several more tests, confirm it was a definitely a heart attack and 1 of my main arteries was blocked.” The following Monday, Ruha underwent a stent implant procedure to return his blood flow to normal. “It is now Wednesday and I am grateful to be home with my tamariki and whānau,” Ruha wrote.
If Novak Djokovic can give up playing tennis for a few years to keep himself healthy and not go along with the madness that has infected our world, then all stars could have done the same. I have said this before but it bears repeating: I have so much respect for him.
How much longer before people begin to connect the dots? Will they ever? Or, will they be allowed to do so publicly?
