I've long been an early adopter of alternatives to Google's suite of apps. Like using Duck Duck Go search engine, and others. I use several different browsers, each for dedicated purposes. ProtonMail, VPN, and soon their calendar app too. And the list goes on. Can't remember the last time I used Google Search. Two Browsers I recommend, are Firefox & Brave. There are others, depending on what platforms you use most. Also, I've been an early adopter of alternatives to social media apps too. BTW, Fakebook is as bad as Google!
duck is just as bad. doing research, Brave search gives 5 results, Google 35. Bing might give 7 but they are spread over 10 pages with multiple double posts. I have been advized to use proton, but all and everything I am subscribed to is from a google account and I never had trouble so far (touching wood). Some ranking bias will always show up with any broad search term or trending news.. the search engines learn from each other & pull endless data from users so we never get to a physical library balance that excludes any popularity ranking where CIA crimes follows cakes but the compound searches and older items will show up in the first few pages along w seldom seen sources operating in truly independent spaces.
