Not certain, but this one might be a red herring. I was on active duty with the Marines for almost 35 years. We had to continually remind Marines to keep their knees from locking while in formation. Locking their knees would frequently lead to something like this, and this was long before the death shots. FWIW
Veteran here. Yes, there were some who did collapse because they locked their knees. It makes it easier to stand in place for longer periods of time but can pass out. You have to slightly bend the knees which is even more difficult but it will prevent you from passing out. I don't know how long he was standing there but the longest I had to stand in place was a little over 2 hours and it was rough. They do teach you this in the military to avoid passing out. However, I don't every recall someone passing out the way this person did in the video. When they go, they go down hard and quick. We'll never get an answer. If we do, it will most likely be a lie.
Locking knees does cause you to pass out. Any Boy Scout or serviceman should know this. Why the squid fainted then is a fair question. Clueless recruits don't make up Congressional honor guards. Like maybe once a week someone would pass out at attention, during practice and even in public. Could be other factors - dehydration, hunger, heat exhaustion. Standing at attention for an hour or more is tough, regardless of conditions. The thing is, though, it was usually the freshman or first year cadet who fainted. When I see a member of a professional honor guard passing out, people with lots of experience, it definitely raises questions.
