My 20 year old actor son had to give up his apt in nyc in aug 2020 due to mandates. Hes been living in my basement since then. He cant even audition unless hes vaxxed. Hes severely depressed and sometimes suicidal. Im steering him into being a plumber or locksmith amd doing .local theatre. His entire career was destroyed .
I have been involved with and have been writing on my SubStack from almost the beginning of this insanity. I am retired and have a lot of time to do the kinds of things that have brought my knowledge base on this subject to a point where is it pretty good (I think). Please tell him the following: You did the right thing. He has his entire life ahead of him. NOTHING is worth potentially sacrificing your life for. The future will need him. The world will need him. Most of if not all of the folks who conformed will have problems or die in the future. And in spite of what is popularly believed at this point, the real pandemic is about to begin. I am writing something about this right now that I will publish in about a week. This will be a pandemic that will hospitalize and kill the "vaccinated" in astounding numbers as the unvaccinated watch in horror. So he chose to live and live to fight another day. thankyou for your comment. Unfortunately it took 4 years to find a decent non vermin infested rent stabilized apt which he had to give up. We personally spent over 250K CASH to fund Adler and Meisner Conservatory om addition to all his living expenses. I have no more money to fund him. In order to even GET an apt you need first and security as well as one month broker fee. He cant come up with that anytime soon. I am actually trying to get him to get a trade ( plumbing, food cart, locksmith) that can support him in NYC if he returns. But that looks like a dream now. Additionally, we found out AFTER he graduated and tried to find an agent: Unless you get a personal referral into one of the top or medium level agencies, you cannot even AUDITION for them to represent you. The conservatories REFUSE to do this for their students! Its a SCAM. SO unless someone reading this is willing to personally refer my son to an agency he wont be able to even audition for work. Sadly. Both conservatories independently discussed the fact my son reminded them of Seymour Hoffman. An actors actor. A director and an actor. Its so sad. Hes so incredibly gifted. Many, many actors (and crew!) no one knows about, working-class day-players, co-stars, background actors, actors in commercials, 'models' in regular ads (different from fashion) and theater actors in local productions did not get to work unless they got the jab. Crew, too, as in hair, make-up, lighting dept, drivers, etc. The unions were not helpful. The mandates are criminal. Where there is risk there must be choice. And true informed consent~ so people can make sound choices (esp when presented with all the BS)! Not all, but most productions still require the shots + booster for actors and crew.
As for SAG (Screen Actors Guild), they kicked the can down the road and "let" all the productions "call the shots" -literally. So most productions mandated the shots and boosters. And most still do. Thousands and thousands of performers have written letters, protested, petitioned, to no avail. The SAG president just recently (Fall 2022), said the mandates are discriminatory- to enormous public blowback. To answer your question, SAG did not seem as zealously 'pro-shot' as the teachers' unions. But it sure did not try to stop the tide~ and allows production companies to decide. Most productions, not all, still require all the shots, including "boosters."
It is ludicrous and discriminatory as everyone has now admitted the shots do not stop infection or transmission. SAG should have protected its members’ right to medical choice.
Those who got fired should definitely initiate lawsuits. If the government can give 800+ billion (of tax payer money)to Ukraine, then these people should be compensated for this very unfair treatment. This jab has crippled and killed so many. I am not sure how you can legally compel someone to get an EUA vaccine—shot approved for experimental use—that even Wolensky and company admit doesn’t stop transmission. Several studies actually show “negative efficacy” meaning the vaccinated actually have an increased chance of contracting Covid. Great policy!
When my union was crafting new language to our collective bargaining agreement with my employer, it was around the same time that a group of employees from Houston Methodist initiated a lawsuit against the hospital for mandating the shots. The EUA issue was raised in the first round of that lawsuit as well as Nuremberg code, and the judge completely disregarded them and ruled against the employees very quickly. The attorney (who had a total hard on for mandates) representing our union pointed to that ruling to claim that mandates were "legal". Never mind that the suit against the hospital is still being appealed and fought, and never mind it was alleged that the judge in this case was a crony pal with the CEO of Methodist. I have written Fran Drescher, SAG president numerous times on the issue. Not only are the vaxxxs mandated by the studios, there is absolutely no allowance for religious or medical exemptions. I was told it was ACTRA that pushed the shots on actors and all the supporting unions followed along. But it could very well be production, because thats where the money comes from.
ACTRA is the Canadian actors' union? (It's also the American Cowboy Team Roping Assoc., doubt they'd do that;)! I do not know about ACTRA in Canada, but SAG-AFTRA in the US did not appear to 'push the shots' as crazily as some other unions (MCM mentioned the Teachers' union). But SAG-AFTRA did not support its members to stop the studios, production companies and sets from pushing, enforcing, and coercing the shots. In other words, "no shot, no job." Only in the past month (Fall 2022) has the president of SAG said the mandates are discriminatory, and it was not well received.
American Federation of Musicians shamefully and zealously pro vax. First time I've seen Unions involved in voting members to the curb stripped of pay and health care benefits. So much for "solidarity".

I can tell you a little bit. From what I saw IATSE, the stagehands union, is being zealously unhelpful. I don't know what I can say and can't say, or should say or shouldn't say, but I know of one local at least that made it so that if a venue required masking then the union also required it -- as part of the dress code. I haven't really tried to find out more about the stance on vaccines but I really should. And here I was about to give up on paying stamps since it's been so long... Hm, maybe not. Now I want to know. I'll drop a comment or something if I find out more. Cheers
This is my limited understanding as well for stagehands, drivers, etc. There are "zones" on sets, and the closer workers get to the on-camera principal actors (ie, hair&make up, wardrobe, anyone crew near/in front of the camera, all called Zone A), the stricter things got especially with masking, etc. Productions might have varying levels of strictness, but it really is up to them, the employers, not the unions who were unhelpful in lobbying for their constituents.
FYI/UPDATE: The shot mandates for actors and crew on film/tv/commercial sets just ended YESTERDAY, 5/11/23. And there appears to be slippery verbiage which could mean certain productions might still enforce it, but that is TBD. OY VEY!!!

All the IATSE members I knew lined right up for shots...one thing is that a lot of people - MOST people - ran for the shots long before there were any mandates. They believed the shots were going to end covid and that they were 95% safe and effective. Remember how people were practically falling over themselves to get the shots right after they became available? So when mandates were later imposed it was upon groups of employees who were already jabbed, overwhelmingly compliant - and scared - and they believed the only way to "get back to normal" was to make sure everyone got injected. The intelligent critical thinkers who held out at risk of being fired were correct but taking a stand at that time was like trying to stand up against a tidal wave.
Yes, they were very afraid. One carpenter was of the mindset that all us antivaxxers should be forced to get it. This summer he actually listened to what I had to say and is now more respectful. I am lucky the key i work for did not press the issue of the jab and I was left alone, and I feel sorry for all those that lined up.

I am a regular American worker in Dallas about 400 people on this site, I was following this covid insanity the media was pushing and things didn't add up, shot doesn't prevent transmission or protection for yourself, already was convinced to wait it out and see how everyone receiving the shots fared out, and heard about all the side effects through the grapevine and people with horrible side effects, only two of about 15 people in our lab did not get the shots. Managers were trying to influence everyone to get the shot, there was alot of arguing about the shots safety, glad I did not get the shot, thankfully our company was not mandating the shot. I always tell people it's like were living in a bad dream!
I want those if you who rejected the vaccination to know YOU DID THE RIGHT THING! I commend you for standing your ground, and sorry it cost you financially. I am a 74 year old women who was in good health but 2 months after getting Covid vac. I developed 2 forms of cancer. (It's been a horrible experience and too much to talk about here) But I just want you to know you made the right decision and your sacrifice could have saved your life. I wish I had never taken it. I am not cancer free and will probably die from my cancer. I'm just glad I am older and have had a good life. I am a Christian, and I pray daily for God's healing. Additionally, we found out AFTER he graduated and tried to find an agent: Unless you get a personal referral into one of the top or medium level agencies, you cannot even AUDITION for them to represent you. The conservatories REFUSE to do this for their students! Its a SCAM. SO unless someone reading this is willing to personally refer my son to an agency he wont be able to even audition for work. Many, many actors (and crew!) no one knows about, working-class day-players, co-stars, background actors, actors in commercials, 'models' in regular ads (different from fashion) and theater actors in local productions did not get to work unless they got the jab. Crew, too, as in hair, make-up, lighting dept, drivers, etc. The unions were not helpful. The mandates are criminal. Where there is risk there must be choice. And true informed consent~ so people can make sound choices (esp when presented with all the BS)! Not all, but most productions still require the shots + booster for actors and crew.

As for SAG (Screen Actors Guild), they kicked the can down the road and "let" all the productions "call the shots" -literally. So most productions mandated the shots and boosters. And most still do. Thousands and thousands of performers have written letters, protested, petitioned, to no avail. The SAG president just recently (Fall 2022), said the mandates are discriminatory- to enormous public blowback. To answer your question, SAG did not seem as zealously 'pro-shot' as the teachers' unions. But it sure did not try to stop the tide~ and allows production companies to decide. Most productions, not all, still require all the shots, including "boosters."
It is ludicrous and discriminatory as everyone has now admitted the shots do not stop infection or transmission. SAG should have protected its members’ right to medical choice.
Those who got fired should definitely initiate lawsuits. If the government can give 800+ billion (of tax payer money)to Ukraine, then these people should be compensated for this very unfair treatment. This jab has crippled and killed so many. I am not sure how you can legally compel someone to get an EUA vaccine—shot approved for experimental use—that even Wolensky and company admit doesn’t stop transmission. Several studies actually show “negative efficacy” meaning the vaccinated actually have an increased chance of contracting Covid. Great policy!
When my union was crafting new language to our collective bargaining agreement with my employer, it was around the same time that a group of employees from Houston Methodist initiated a lawsuit against the hospital for mandating the shots. The EUA issue was raised in the first round of that lawsuit as well as Nuremberg code, and the judge completely disregarded them and ruled against the employees very quickly. The attorney (who had a total hard on for mandates) representing our union pointed to that ruling to claim that mandates were "legal". Never mind that the suit against the hospital is still being appealed and fought, and never mind it was alleged that the judge in this case was a crony pal with the CEO of Methodist. I was told it was ACTRA that pushed the shots on actors and all the supporting unions followed along. But it could very well be production, because thats where the money comes from.
ACTRA is the Canadian actors' union? (It's also the American Cowboy Team Roping Assoc., doubt they'd do that;)! I do not know about ACTRA in Canada, but SAG-AFTRA in the US did not appear to 'push the shots' as crazily as some other unions (MCM mentioned the Teachers' union). But SAG-AFTRA did not support its members to stop the studios, production companies and sets from pushing, enforcing, and coercing the shots. In other words, "no shot, no job." Only in the past month (Fall 2022) has the president of SAG said the mandates are discriminatory, and it was not well received.
American Federation of Musicians shamefully and zealously pro vax. First time I've seen Unions involved in voting members to the curb stripped of pay and health care benefits. So much for "solidarity".

I can tell you a little bit. From what I saw IATSE, the stagehands union, is being zealously unhelpful. I don't know what I can say and can't say, or should say or shouldn't say, but I know of one local at least that made it so that if a venue required masking then the union also required it -- as part of the dress code. I haven't really tried to find out more about the stance on vaccines but I really should. And here I was about to give up on paying stamps since it's been so long... Hm, maybe not. In the case of stagehands I am aware of, they were subject to rules of the venues or rules of the employers occupying those venues.
This is my limited understanding as well for stagehands, drivers, etc. There are "zones" on sets, and the closer workers get to the on-camera principal actors (ie, hair&make up, wardrobe, anyone crew near/in front of the camera, all called Zone A), the stricter things got especially with masking, etc. Productions might have varying levels of strictness, but it really is up to them, the employers, not the unions who were unhelpful in lobbying for their constituents.

You are absolutely correct that the unions did not help at all. They rolled over for the big money people. I am the only one that I know of in my local IATSE union that has not had any shots. Pretty sad, and I always thought artists went against the grain.
By and large, actors and musicians, these days, don't go against the grain, if it means opposing a globalist agenda, because their production is meant for the world market ( commerce! ). They're generally on the side of ultimately surrendering autonomy to transnational corporate power ( such as big tech, or big pharma's in this case ), because they rightly sense that's where their interests lie [ except when they tragically don't — in a jack-in-the-box, err, clot-in-the-shot sort of way! ]. And, if they can virtue-signal while selling out, all the better.

All the IATSE members I knew lined right up for shots...one thing is that a lot of people - MOST people - ran for the shots long before there were any mandates. They believed the shots were going to end covid and that they were 95% safe and effective. Remember how people were practically falling over themselves to get the shots right after they became available? So when mandates were later imposed it was upon groups of employees who were already jabbed, overwhelmingly compliant - and scared - and they believed the only way to "get back to normal" was to make sure everyone got injected. The intelligent critical thinkers who held out at risk of being fired were correct but taking a stand at that time was like trying to stand up against a tidal wave.
Yes, they were very afraid. One carpenter was of the mindset that all us antivaxxers should be forced to get it. This summer he actually listened to what I had to say and is now more respectful. I am lucky the key i work for did not press the issue of the jab and I was left alone, and I feel sorry for all those that lined up.

I am a regular American worker in Dallas about 400 people on this site, I was following this covid insanity the media was pushing and things didn't add up, shot doesn't prevent transmission or protection for yourself, already was convinced to wait it out and see how everyone receiving the shots fared out, and heard about all the side effects through the grapevine and people with horrible side effects, only two of about 15 people in our lab did not get the shots. Managers were trying to influence everyone to get the shot, there was alot of arguing about the shots safety, glad I did not get the shot, thankfully our company was not mandating the shot. I always tell people it's like were living in a bad dream!
