We were floored hearing an interview on the weekly show, I think hosted by Brook Gladstone or one of her guest interviewers, called "On Living.) The topic was euthanasia for the elderly who are lonely. It was touted as the perfect solution to elders who were shut away with no living relatives or friends. No alternatives to this solution were discussed, like perhaps having elderly interact with animals or children who need relationships, too. At the end of the interview my daughter pointed out that the show transitioned with very, very over- the top, happy music. We were both sickened. It was no satire, I can promise you. The interviewee had even written a book on this topic, if I remember correctly.
We all need to take responsibility for lonely elders. It doesn't matter who's parents or aunts and uncles they are, they deserve our love, respect and time. When I lived in a town (I now live in the middle of nowhere an hour drive from a populated area), I took my therapy dog into seniors homes to visit the seniors with my dog. I could tell that these visits were the highlight of their week and was told by the staff that they received few other visits. One was a lady who was blind and deaf, yet she kept herself busy by weaving during the day. She would get so excited and cry happy tears when we visited. I got as much out of those visits as the seniors did and my dog loved the attention. She also knew these people needed her. Brings tears to my eyes as that sweet girl is now long gone. Anyway, if you ever are looking for something to do to serve your fellow human beings, get certified to go visit people in a nursing or seniors home. You will not regret it.
I also recall there being many public buses north of San Francisco for a time, maybe in 2021 or 2022, which had advertisement on the side of the bus, saying: "Children get strokes too!" Another ad or was it a newspaper article was announcing how proud the pediatric world in the US was for having schools, playing fields, playgrounds and other public places installed with defibrillators for children. I wish so badly I had taken a photo of those ads, articles. Not satire. Not at all. Just out there mocking us. That is what I believe.
Yes one of the people listed as a doctor (I think it's doctor) is a stand up comedian. Still not funny that this is slipped in as an ad between children's videos ffs.

My mom was on hospice from March of last year until she passed on Thanksgiving evening. Prior to hospice, her Medicare and private insurers would only pay her doctors and health care providers a small fraction of their asking price. Once hospice got involved, the asking price was paid in full by her private insurers and Medicare. And the bills were hefty. Seems to me that's where both government and private corporations' incentive is, even here in the United States. To see to it we end up 6 ft under ASAP!!

It seems derivative of "Children of Men" - a much different kind of movie from 2006, very much worth watching. Throughout the film you see billboards and TV commercials for a drug "Quietus", only to realize later that it's a suicide pill that the government is freely handing out to people:
