1) Israel is facing an Urban Conflict. Civilian casualties are always a part of Urban Conflict. Israel makes efforts to minimize Civilian categories (from what I heard, close to 1 to 1 which is the lowest in history)
2) Hamas is fighting a propaganda war. Their job is to repeat "Genocide" forever to alienate Israel on the world stage. Whether Israel takes effort to reduce civilian casualties or not, Hamas will follow the same script in its propaganda efforts.
2A) Further, Hamas in its own reporting does not, to my knowledge, distinguish between Civilian and military casualties. All are "civilian" for the purpose of the propaganda effort.
3) The conflict was instigated with the 10/7 attack where Hamas murdered, raped and kidnapped 1200 civilians out of the blue.
3A) In response to this argument, I've heard apologist for Hamas claim:
3A1) That Hamas was justified in 10/7 due to 1948 (I.E. Israel's very existence)
3A2) That because Israel has universal conscription, there ARE no civilians, and thus any Israeli citizen is fair game.
4) The Holocaust did not generally have Jews advocating for the destruction of Germany, or the sudden rape, murder and kidnapping of 1200 German citizens.
