Actor Kailas Nath, who was much-loved for his character Pillai Chettan in 'Santhwanam' has passed away. The 65-year-old, who was undergoing treatments for non-alcoholic liver cirrhosis for a couple of years, breathed his last at a private hospital in Kochi on Thursday (August 3). It was in 2021 that Kailas Nath suffered a minor heart attack on the sets of the popular show 'Santhwanam'. Later, he was diagnosed with non-alcoholic liver cirrhosis and was advised to do a liver transplant.

Nitin Chandrakant Desai, the prominent Bollywood production designer of the Oscar-nominated music sports drama Lagaan, has died. He was 57. Desai reportedly was found dead at his studio in Karat, near Mumbai. The Indian Express and other local news agencies have reported police initially are suspecting suicide. Investigations are continuing. Desai was known for his colorful work on the 2001 blockbuster Lagaan and Devdas, the BAFTA-nominated Indian drama from a year later. During his long career he also worked on another Oscar-nominated feature, 1988’s Salaam Bombay!, and on 1942: A Love Story (1993), Hum Do De Choke Sanam (1999) and Jodhaa Akbar (2008), among others. He also designed the set for Kaun Banega Crorepati? in Slumdog Millionaire and worked as a producer on several films and TV shows. He also directed Hello Jai Hind! and Ajintha, the former of which he also acted in.

Bharathi Kannamma fame actress Shruti Shanmuga Priya’s husband Arvind Shekar, passed away on August 2. The reason was said to be a heart attack. Arvind, a bodybuilder, was 30 years old. He was also a former Mr Tamil Nadu. Reports said that Arvind died after suffering a heart attack at home. His wife, Shruti Shanmuga Priya, is a popular actress in the television industry. The two have been married for a little over a year. The couple had recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Even though Arvind was soon rushed to the hospital after suffering a heart attack, he could not be resuscitated. His untimely demise has taken everyone by shock. Arvind was also a fitness coach and was crowned Mr. Tamil Nadu last year. Right after their marriage, the couple jetted off on a trip to Paris. Recently, they celebrated one year of this trip. Arvind captioned the post and he wrote, "One year in Paris. Die with good memories, not with unfulfilled dreams."

Alappuzha - A young Kathakali artiste died on stage during a performance at a temple at Cherthala in Alappuzha district. Raghunath Mahipal, 25, was performing the dance drama at the Maruthorvattom Dhanwantari Temple on Sunday night when he suddenly felt uneasy and collapsed. He was rushed to a hospital nearby, though to no avail. The temple authorities said that he died due to cardiac arrest.

Mysore/Mysuru - Dr. K. Byrappa (69), Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Adichunchanagiri University in Mandya district and a resident of Jodi Bevinamara Road in Vijayanagar 3rd Stage, Mysuru, passed away following a massive heart attack at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru this morning. Dr. Byrappa, who was to participate in the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Convocation at Belagavi tomorrow, was scheduled to attend a meeting in this regard at Belagavi today. He left Mysuru in a car at about 3 am and reached KIA to board a flight to Belagavi. At the airport lounge, Dr. Byrappa reportedly suffered a massive heart attack, collapsed on the spot and breathed his last around 6 am.

Kochi - Ann Maria Joy (17) - a Idukki native from Thannayar - succumbed to her condition while under treatment following cardiac arrest she suffered two months ago. The end came at a private hospital in Kottayam. Ann is daughter of Joy and Shyni from Nattuakalpara. She collapsed due heart failure while attending Sunday mass with her mother at St. Thomas Forona Church. Ann was shifted from a private hospital in Kattapana and was being treated at Amrita Hospital in Kochi where an expert team of doctors attended her. Minister Roshi Augustine had intervened to facilitate her quick transportation from Kattapana and was initially transferred to Caritas in July. The funeral will be held Sunday 2 pm at St Thomas Church in Thannayar.

The deceased, identified as Bhima Shankar, a native of Kalaburagi, was studying at the government high school in Thumkur. On Thursday, he participated in the relay race and won second place. However, he collapsed and died before he could receive the prize.

Armapur - The deceased was identified as Shashwat Kumar (24), son of Pramod Chaudhary of Changeri Mirzapur village under Barahat police station area. According to the information received, Shashwat Kumar had gone to Sotichak village under his maternal grandmother Shambhuganj police station area. On Saturday morning, he was returning home on his bike. As soon as he reached Baja Morh while moving from Bharko village, suddenly the bike went out of control and he fell into a roadside tree and died on the spot. The bike was also completely damaged. An ambulance also reached there on the information of the villagers, while the family members of the deceased also reached Baja Mor after getting information about the incident.

Karur - Senthil Kumar (45) is a native of Anna Nagar in Manmangalam, Karur. He is a labourer and is married and has a wife named Ramya. Senthil kumar, who was under the influence of alcohol on the day of the incident, fainted near his house. Seeing this, his relatives rescued him and rushed him to Karur government hospital for treatment. The doctors who examined Senthilkumar there said he was already dead. His body was later sent to the post-mortem laboratory. Vangal police sub-inspector Manoharan has registered a case and is investigating the matter.

In this case, he came to buy liquor at the government liquor shop behind old Diamond Talkies this afternoon. It is said that Murugan had a convulsion when he came to buy madhu. He also complained of convulsions and fell down vomiting blood while holding an iron pipe that had been set up to go to the queue. The TASMAC shop staff immediately informed the 108 ambulance. When they came and saw it, they said they were dead and left.

Dharmapuri - Tension prevailed at the Dharmapuri district govermnent medical college and hospital on Thursday after a 23-year-old man admitted for an appendix surgery died without responding to treatment. The patient's kin staged a protest at the hospital alleging that the death was due to doctors' negligence. The deceased, P Veerakaran, 23, of Shivadi, was admitted to the hospital on July 31 and underwent surgery on August 1. His father said, "My son had recovered after the surgery and was even talking to us." He added that around 3 am on Thursday, he suddenly developed fits and become unconscious within a few minutes. He alerted the doctors who declared him dead. His kin demanded that the autopsy should be done by three doctors, including a doctor selected by the family, and that the post-mortem should be videographed.

Nardo, Italy – A young man of Indian nationality, recently turned 26, Nehra Amit, originally from the state of Rajasthan, was found lifeless this morning inside the At the Aia farmhouse in Nardò, in the Carignano Grande district, in the near Strada Brusca, a road which – starting from the cemetery – leads towards a vast area of countryside and, descending again, towards the coast road. According to what has been verified at the moment by the carabinieri of the Nardò station, the poor foreign boy was found dead by some present in a swimming pool. At the moment it is not entirely clear what happened, but it is probable that the young man may have been struck by a sudden illness, or in any case fell, while he was cleaning the area using a special robot. When they noticed the 26-year-old unconscious in the water, which was rather shallow, in the structure, the requests for help immediately started. The 26-year-old Indian hadn't been in Italy for a long time. It seems that he had arrived just a month ago, probably looking for a job, and that he was on probation at the farmhouse, so much so that he did not have a contract.

‘She Left Us So Suddenly’: 38-Year-Old Mum Dies Days After Giving Birth to Second Child

She had just given birth to her second child three days earlier but died before her two young children could get to know who their mum was. According to Shin Min Daily, the woman, Toh Xin Ling, 38, fell unconscious while at home last Thursday (Aug 3). Sadly, she never woke up. When interviewed by reporters during the wake, her husband, surnamed Ang, told Shin Min that his wife had just given birth to their daughter on July 31 amid much excitement and joy within the family. She was discharged on Wednesday (Aug 2) but unexpectedly collapsed at home the next day. Ang, 35, shared that he had received the news from his father-in-law while driving back from the hospital with their newborn daughter. He hurried home within five minutes and checked on Toh, but felt no pulse. Paramedics who arrived also attempted to resuscitate Toh before sending her to the hospital. According to her death certificate, Toh’s cause of death is indicated as “valvular heart disease”, Shin Min Daily News reported. Ang, who’s self-employed, told Shin Min that Toh had a congenital heart condition known as bicuspid aortic valve. Doctors had indicated that a pregnancy would come with certain risks for Toh and they recommended that the couple not have children or to have an abortion if it were to endanger her life. However, Toh successfully gave birth to their elder daughter two years ago, which brought them joy as Toh loved children. Ang added that as his wife came from a large family, she’d hoped for her own family to be just as big and lively. “She left us so suddenly, we’re not mentally prepared,” said Ang.

Sumatra - A passenger from Lubuk Linggau, South Sumatra (South Sumatra) died on a bus while it was being cared for in the Bakauheni Port area, South Lampung. Bakauheni Port Area Police Chief AKP Ridho Rafika revealed that one of the bus passengers had been found dead in the Bakauheni Port area. "On Saturday, August 5, 2023, at around 07.00 WIB, in the PO SAN Nopol BD 7166 AN Bus located in the parking area of Pier III, a deceased person was found," he said. At around 07.00 WIB the SAN Bus arrived at Bakauheni Port, when the bus was queuing to board the ship at Pier III, witnesses on behalf of Lusiana's mother saw the victim in a deceased condition. "After that, the victim was taken to Bob Bazar Kalianda Hospital using an ASDP Ambulance for examination. After examination by health workers, the passenger was declared dead and no violent elements were found on the victim's body," he said.

Ipoh - A man, who was driving a Toyota Camry, died of a heart attack, resulting in his car crashing into the wall of a temple in Jalan Kampung Lambak near Tanjung Malim today. Muallim District police chief Supt Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said members of the public alerted them to the incident at 8.40 am. He said the victim, Lok Ming Choy, 55, of Taman Kampar, Ipoh, was confirmed to have died of a heart attack after the post-mortem examination was completed. “Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, who was travelling from Kampung Lambak towards Tanjung Malim Town, lost control of his vehicle and skidded onto the right side of the road before hitting the temple wall,” he said in a statement today, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - BERNAMA

A 39-year-old Russian woman died in Malaysia earlier this month after years of subsisting entirely on a raw vegan diet, according to Russian media reports. Zhanna Samsonova, who went by Zhanna D’Art online, worked variously as a vegetarian chef, yoga teacher, and masseuse in South East Asia, and shared her lifestyle with several thousand Instagram followers. She’d been following an all-raw vegan diet for at least a decade, according to one Instagram post. A newspaper published in Kazan, the Russian city where Samsonova’s mother lives, was the first to report her July 21 death. Her mother told the Vechernyaya Kazan that her daughter died of a “cholera-like infection” after several days in an intensive care unit. She added that she believed Samsonova had succumbed to exhaustion and the stress placed on her body by an all-vegan diet. An official cause of death has not been confirmed.

Canterbury - A family trip to see snow at Mt Hutt in Canterbury has ended in tragedy after a father crashed his car and two of his children died. Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash in Rakaia Terrace Rd, Hororata, at 2.46 pm yesterday. The driver of the car, Ghomer Dulay, who lost his children in the crash, spoke to The New Zealand Herald on Sunday morning. He said he was taking them to see snow for the first time at Mt Hutt. The father has lived in New Zealand since 2015, but his three children aged 22, 19, and 17 arrived in the country in May this year from the Philippines. Two people died and three others were taken to Christchurch Hospital with a range of injuries. Police then informed him on Saturday night after arriving at the hospital that two children - Khatricia Dulay, 19, and Ian Dulay, 17, had died. His oldest child was critically injured, as was his partner.
